MISS YEO STUDIO - PHEBE YEO TEACHING POLICY (SINGAPORE)

WELCOME TO MISS YEO STUDIO!

Objectives:
I am passionate about music and people and want to further my education in order
to make a bigger difference in people’s lives. I have learned that music has the
ability to break language barrier and music has the ability to communicate. Secondly,
music changes people’s lives. My goal in life is to impact people and make a
difference in their life, especially through music. Therefore, it gives me the
satisfaction when I am able to impart the knowledge of music to the younger
generation and hopefully it would change their lives as it changes mine.

MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES:
Throughout the students’ lesson time, the instructor will make recommendations on
literature, repertoire, equipment and supplies. As a rule, the instructor will procure
and distribute literature, repertoire, etc. as long as the parents/ student agrees to
reimburse the costs of the materials (receipts will be provided for all items)

Tuition charges do not cover the cost of music or books. Music may be purchased
through the instructor (retail cost payable upon receipt of item) and you have to
reimburse the instructor. If preferred, the instructor can direct you to the
appropriate store/online ordering source. Students are required to bring a notebook
to each lesson.

EXPECTATION OF STUDENTS:
・ Mutual acceptable expectations will be outlined at the beginning of the
semester. Practice and theory assignments will be recorded in notebook and
reviewed at subsequent lesson. Practice planners are created to assist the
student’s practice.
・ Consistent failure to honor the practice commitment results in a frustrating
and unproductive situation for all involved. Therefore the instructor
reserved the right to dismiss any student, without refund, if effort is
inadequate over a period of several weeks.
・ Students will have to practice at least 30 minutes- 1 hour a day, 5 days
a week. Consistent practice makes us better, which makes the experience
more fun.
・ Students are required to keep a practice journal
・ Students will complete any and all assignments given in the previous lesson,
before the next lesson

EXPECTATIONS OF PARENTS:
・ Lesson plans are scheduled for an entire month period. Parents understand
that they share in the commitment to the lesson plan.
・ Parents will ensure that the lesson area is free of distractions and non-
lesson activities. The focus of our lesson should be on the music.
・ Parents will positively encourage the students in the completion of their daily
practice time. Please do take notice of the student’s homework. This will
ensure satisfactory progression of the student, and an important involvement
in the student’s musical study.
・ Parents will encourage the student to practice while the parents are home.
This will ensure that time is spent on the material that has been assigned
・ Parents/ Students will reimburse the teacher for materials purchased for and
left with the student. This will allow for continued and timely procurement of
new materials for the student as they progress throughout time.

EXPECTATION OF THE TEACHER:

The instructor will strive to provide musical instruction of the highest quality to the
student by engineering a method specifically suited to their needs and aspirations. I
will consistently search and educate myself for new ways to challenge, enrich, and
