A very very good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am Kinkini Ghosh and I am Moumita Sit and we
are your host for this morning on behalf of AAF, and we extend a very warm and a hearty
welcome to each one of you all here. First most we would like to thank you all for taking the time
out from your heavy schedules and marking this spectacular morning with your glorious presence.
We are about to begin with this program.

Welcome to the 3rd Eastern India Avian Convention (EIAC 2019). The first EIAC was organised by
AAF in 20…. with the only vision and mission i.e. conservation through aviculture and wellbeing of
the birds. EIAC is the brainchild of our beloved Rana da and has taken its 3rd step with the
guidance of Ujjal da, Koushik da, Sanjib da, Ayan da, JD da, Snehasish da, Kinkini and every single
member of AAF.

We would now take the opportunity to welcome our guests of honour.

1. Mr. Sushil Tankaria:

2. Mr. Nandakishore Reddy: The bird man of Hyderabad. He is the founder of Raaga aviaries.
RAAGA AVIARIES now houses over 100 pairs of conures. One among the handful of aviculturists in
India, he is doing his bit in conserving exotic birds. He is also a consultant for the parrot world
section at the Nehru Zoological Park.

3. Mr. Sadiq Bhaimia: An engineer by qualification, dedicated his whole life towards Aviculture.
His area of expertise includes “Avian health and Medicine”, which is one of the least discussed
topics in Indian Aviculture.

4. Mr. Subrata Chakraborty: He is the living legend in the avian sector. His place is a virtual
paradise for bird lovers with melodious whistling and chitter-chatter of exotic birds ranging from
Cockatoos to Eclectus parrots to Amazon parrots. He is also the author of the book “Pakhiwalar
Diary”.

All of us present here, have those feathery friends, we love and care for. But very few of us are
aware of the rules of bird keeping. Anyway no worries ladies and gentlemen!! Because our first
speaker will put light on the “Commercial aviculture and its legal aspects”.

So, our first speaker is Dr. Debashis Banerjee, professional and professor of postgraduate dentistry
endodontist, is also a member of India's Dentistry Council. Dr. Banerjee is the founder and owner
of Sunshine birdworld, where he takes responsibility for a formidable collection for breeding.
Today SUNSHINE BIRDWORLD is home to an astounding collection of various birds ranging from
tiny Finches to majestic Macaws, Australian Parakeet, a wide variety of conures, many quakers
mutations, several subspecies of eclectus parrots, African grey parrots, pionus, cockatoos and also
a vast collection of Lories and Lorikeets, toucans and starlings.
We would now request Dr. Banerjee to take over the dais and share his knowledge with the
audience.

Ladies and gentleman, I want you all to give a huge round of applause for Dr. Debashis Banerjee.

Unfortunately aviculture is not free from diseases and accidental mishaps.

Our next speaker Dr. Parikshit Kakoti is from Gwahati, Assam and is a renowned veterinarian. Dr.
Kakoti is a research scholar in the Department of Parasitology in College of Veterinary science. Dr.
Kakoti is also a senior programme officer at veterinary department of WWF-India. Dr. Kakoti’s
contribution in various health camps to prevent the spreading of diseases amongst the livestock
population is beyond admiration. Away from the wildlife duties, he practices successful breeding
of Australian parakeets including Rosellas and grass parakeets in his personal setup. In his talk, he
intends to expose all his knowledge and experience about the “Preventive medical care and First
aid in Aviculture”. It is a great opportunity for all the hobbyists and aviculturists to deepen their
knowledge of the medical treatment in aviary.

We would now take the opportunity to invite Dr. Kakoti to come on stage.

So, Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Dr. Parikshit Kakoti.

Our next speaker is Mr. Sreenivasa Murthy, owner of Nature’s jewels. Mr. Murthy is a parakeet
enthusiast with special liking towards grass parakeets and full range of Australian birds. He used
to spend most of his time going to local breeders and birds’ shows and showed so much interest in
birds especially parakeets. He started to breed Grass parakeet, Turquoisine parakeet, Bourke’s
parrot, scarlet chested parrot, Elegant Parrot, Polyteils and various finches. His most treasured
achievements are successful colony breeding of Grey parrots, Sun conures and finches. Away from
the birds, Mr. Murthy is efficient in computer hardware engineering and also deals in bio-medical
equipment. You will undoubtedly be fascinated by the interesting presentation by Sreenivasa
Murthy on “Care and breeding of grass parakeets and finches”.

Put your hands together for Mr. Sreenivasa Murthy.

So far we have learned about legal aspect of bird keeping, caring and breeding protocols of several
species of birds as well as treatment of birds. But all of us present here also share a strong
emotional attachment with our beloved pet birds. And so does our next speaker Dr. Anindita
