geometry.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving
geometric figures on the rectangular coordinate plane with
perseverance and accuracy.
C. Learner’s Competencies/ Derives the distance formula.
CODE M10GE-IIg-1.
Specific Objective for the day.
Cognitive: Determine the distance formula.
Psychomotor: Apply the distance formula to find the distance between any two points.

presenting the the questions that follow:
new lesson

B. Establishing a Group Activity 1

purpose to the Let’s Exercise
lesson Use the situation below to answer the questions that follow.
Jose lives 5 km away from the plaza . Every Saturday, he meets Emilio and Diego for a
morning exercise. In going to the plaza, Emilio has to travel 6 km to the west while Diego has to
travel 8 km to the south. The location of their houses and the plaza are illustrated on the coordinate
plane.
1. How far is Emilio’s house from Diego’s house? Explain
2. Suppose the city Hall is 4km north of Jose’s house. How far is it from the plaza? Form
Emilio’s house? Explain your answer.
3. How far is the gasoline station from Jose’s house if it is 4km south of Emilio’s house?
4. What are the coordinates of the points corresponding to the houses of Emilio, Jose, and
Diego? How about the coordinates of the point corresponding to the plaza?
5. If the City Hall is 4km north of Jose’s house, what are the coordinates of the point
corresponding to it?How about the coordinates of the point corresponding to the gasoline
station if it is 4km south of Emilio’s house?
6. How are you going to use the coordinates of the points in determining the distance
between Emilio’s house and the City Hall? Jose’s house and the gasoline station? The
distance of the houses of Jose, Emilio, and Diego from each other? Explain your answer.
D. Discussing Video Presentation and Powerpoint Presentation
new concepts and In their respective groups, Ask each group to derive the distance formula. Let each group present
practicing new their work to the class.

practicing new
skills #2
F. Developing Group Game
Mastery (Board Game)
The class will be given a pair of points and find the distance between the two points. Each
question has a corresponding points. The group having highest total number of points will be
declared the winner.

G. Finding The teacher will ask this question to the student, “Will you cite situations or instances where you
practical can apply concept of distance formula?”
application of
concepts and
skills in daily
living
H. Making What is a distance formula?
Generalization
and Abstraction What is the standard form of a distance formula? –
about the lesson. How do you solve problems involving distance between two points?

By group, Ask them to make a distance formula song with the tune of any song using popular
song.

I. Evaluate A. Find the distance between each of the following pair of points.
Learning 1. M(3,5) & N(3,7)
2. D(0,2) & G(-4,2)
3. R(-6,0) & S(-7,0)
4. U(8,-2) & V(5,-6)
5. W(7,0) & X(9,-1)
B. Solve the problem below using the distance formula: 1. The teaching building of a school is
mapped on a coordinate grid with the origin being at library. Math’s building is located at the point
(1, 5) and History’s building is located at (4, 9). How far is it from Math’s building to History’s
building?

J. Additional Assignment:
activities for
Application or
Remediation

1. Using the map of Victoria in the Grid, find the distance between the barangay you live in
and Victoria National High School.
2. On your journal notebook, write your learning experience while solving the problem.
