Verbs ending in P / K / S or the sound of an S / CH / SH / F / X / H


pronounce the ED as “T”
e.g. drop – dropped
ask – asked
bake _ baked
dress _ dressed
dance (“dans”) _ danced
watch _ watched
brush _ brushed
laugh (“larf”) _ laughed
fix _ fixed

2.- The sound “D”

Voiced sound L/M/V/N/R/B/G/W/Y/Z


and vowel sounds (dipthongs)
pronounce the ED as “D”
e.g. fill _ filled
skim _ skimmed
arrive _ arrived
burn _ burned *can be regular or irregular
answer _ answered
describe _ described
belong _ belonged
damage _ damaged
allow _ allowed
carry _ carried
close (“cloze” _ closed
agree _ agreed

3.- The sound “ID”


Verbs ending in D / T pronounce the ED as “ID”
e.g. attend _ attended
