Today,the lesson covers some greetings according
to time and general etiquette expressions.
At the end of the lesson, students should be able
to:
1. use and response to the greeting according to
time
2. use and response to the etiquette expression

zǎo ān
早 安
Good morning
zǎoshang hǎo
早 上 好
wǔ ān
午安
Good afternoon
xiàwǔ hǎo
下午 好
Greeting according to time
Phrase Meaning
Good evening
wǎnshang hǎo
Note: We greet people by saying wǎnshang
晩 上 好 hǎo(晩上好)when we meet them in the
evening or at night.
Good night
wǎn ān
Note: We say wǎn ān(晩安) when we
晩 安 want to take leave after meeting them at
night.

Situation: At the beginning of the lesson
xuésheng men Zhāng lǎoshī wǎnshang hǎo
学生 们 : 张 老师, 晩上 好。
Students Good evening, Miss Zhang.
Zhāng lǎoshī dàjiā wǎnshang hǎo
张 老师 : 大家 晩上 好。
Miss Zhang Good evening, everyone.

没关系。

The use of 请(qǐng)
请 qǐng has many meanings in
Mandarin. It means please, to
ask (someone to do something) ,
to invite, and is sometimes used
with other Chinese words to form
expressions.
When a friend comes to your house, you might use
the following expressions to welcome him.
qǐng jìnlái
请 进来 Please come in
qǐng zuò
请 坐 Please have a seat
qǐng hēchá
请 喝茶 Please have some tea
