Asthma is a type of disease that makes breathing difficult.

It is hard to breathe because it affect


the airways of the lungs. Asthmatic patients can experience wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, or
tightness and pain in the chest during asthma attacks. Asthma is triggered by allergens, fumes, smoke,
pollution, or over fatigue. When suffering from asthma, the airways that carry oxygen to the lungs
narrows because there is inflammation of the air passages. According to the World Health Organization,
asthma currently makes 300 million people suffer and is expected to reach 400 million by 2025.

There are two types of medicine used in treating asthma; long term control medicine and quick
relief. Long term control medicines are taken daily in order to maintain and normalize airways. Examples
of this medicines are Singulair, Flovent, Advair, Pulmicort, Symbicort and QVAR. Quick-relief medications
are used or made to give fast relief for tight airways. Examples of this type of medication are Albuterol,
Levalbuterol, Metaproterenol, and Terbutaline.

But these medicines may cause these side effects such as anxiety, tremor, restlessness, and, headache.

Asthma is one of the common problems encountered by the school clinic. According to the
records of the school clinic, about 40% of the student population of Ann Arbor Montessori-Biñan suffers
