OPERATION

General

The FV-0410 is a general purpose high resolution Internal Monochrome camera with integral IR illuminator for use as
part of the CabinVu 123 video security system.

28VDC supplied from the Non-essential bus is switched by the FV-1050 via the unit connector. A PSU PCB regulates
the incoming 28VDC to 12VDC for the camera and the 6 LED IR illuminator.

The Video output from the camera unit can be Balanced or Unbalanced as determined by the customer option.

TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION

1 Introduction

1.1 This document specifies how to test the FV0410 MonoChrome aerospace camera & IR Illuminator.
1.2 The FV410 unit will be tested at two separate stages of its build.

The following equipment is required:

• 28V D.C. bench supply.
• 6pin MIL-C connector Test cable
• Digital Multimeter
• Suitable CCD camera and Monitor
• Oscilloscope, better than 50MHz with a good video trigger.

2 Initial test on camera

2.1 Before the base camera module can be used it must be tested as a stand alone unit to ensure serviceability.
2.2 Connect the camera to a monitor using the wires from the 4-pin header, where Blue is the video and the black is
the ground/screen. Also connect up to a 12Vdc power supply using the red (+12V) wire and the black (ground)
wire from the four way header and switch to ON. If in doubt consult the info sheet that accompanies the camera.
This sheet is also in the product file’s build instruction section.
2.3 Check the resolution of the camera – this test should be carried out using a mono monitor. It shall be at least 350
TV lines per picture height in the centre of the screen.
2.4 Starting at a nominal 12V dc, gradually decrease the voltage until camera ceases to operate, note the reading,
bring back up to the initial 12V dc. Reject the camera if it fails to function above 11Vdc
2.5 Once all the tests have been completed and everything is satisfactory, then camera should be assembled into
the 410 unit in accordance with the build spec AS0284

3 Final Testing.

3.1 Once the camera has been fitted to the camera housing in accordance with the build spec AS0284, it must be
functionally tested.
3.2 Connect the FV-410 to the Test Monitor. (with unbalanced 75R termination)
3.3 Switch on the power-supply and measure the drawn current. This should be 75mA ± 5 mA. Should the FV410
draw more than 100mA) switch the power-supply OFF IMMEDIATELY!!
3.4 Check on the monitor to see if an image is displayed. Check for sharp focus at infinity.
3.5 Depending on customer requirement, lock camera lens after focus “set up” using a Black RTV Silastic.
3.6 Move the camera from light to dark and notice the changes on the monitor. Should the camera adjust
automatically to the change in light intensity, then the unit is functioning correctly.
3.7 Switch off the room lights.
3.8 Using a suitable viewing device, such as a CCD camera, it will be possible to count the number of LED’s by
observing the front of the illuminator. There should be six IR illuminators.
3.9 Measure the total current using a multimeter.
3.10 Check each LED is of similar brightness

PERFORM FINAL CONFIDENCE TEST WITH COMPLETE CABINVU 123 SYSTEM (FV-1050, FV-
0835, FV-0580/0581 with the FV-0410) ALL CONNECTED

FAULT ISOLATION

“There is no video coming from the FV410 unit ”

• Check the current drawn from the 28V dc supply, it should be no greater than 75mA. IF no current is being
drawn then suspect the PCB-410IA
• Otherwise suspect the Camera. (Part No: CAM-KPC-EX20BH-NTSC)

“ IR ILLUMINATOR is not working or not bright enough”

• Check the number of LEDs. There should be 6 IR illuminators with similar brightness otherwise Suspect
the PCB IRLBB.

CLEANING

The FV-0410 should be cleaned externally using cleaning solvents or solutions normally used by the airline company.
Care should be taken when cleaning so as not to allow the cleaning solution to contaminate the pin contacts of any
connectors.
Do not allow dirt to be ingested into the unit.

At frequent intervals the camera Lens and the LEDs should be cleaned using a lint free cloth.

N.B. Do not use Petrol, Trichloethelene or other unacceptable solvents.
