“Registered”:
“The doors of the Registration Offices in
Maryland were thrown wide open to the
women of the State Tuesday last , and the
invitation to enter was generally accepted,
indicating the desire of the fair ones, and
some not so fair, to qualify for the discharge
of their duty to the state and the nation… In
Harford the same spirit prevailed. In Bel Air
the ladies especially were early at the
services of the awaiting Registrars.”

“The 19th Amendment was ratified after its
national adoption in Connecticut and
Vermont, but in 10 states it was never
ratified: Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina
(sic), South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama,
Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, and
Delaware.”
N.B. According to the National Park
Service, Maryland voted to ratify the 19th
Amendment but it was not certified until
February 25th, 1958.
