HEALTH EDUCATION PLAN

Objectives:

1. To understand the benefits of breastfeeding for both the mother and child.
2. To promote, protect and maintain the health of the matter during pregnancy.
3. To educate mothers on the risk of not adhering to proper hygiene and sanitation practices.
4. To ensure adequate energy and nutrients intake to present under and over nutrition.
5. To maintain stable body position.
6. To provide care for rapid restoration of mother’s health.

General Health Teachings Specific Health Teachings

1.1 Instruct the client to avoid soap in nipples


1.2 Wear a firm supportive bra with wide strap
1.3 Encourage woman to visit their dentist regularly for routine
examination and cleaning]
1.4 Brush teeth well with flossing
1.5 Limit foods rich in sugar . Eat sweet snacks that dissolve easily
like chocolate
1. Personal hygiene
1.6 Snack on nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables
1.7 Protect woman from potential infection and promotes
comfort by dissipating heat produced by increased
metabolism
1.8 Daily tub baths on the early part of pregnancy but be
cautious on the later part of pregnancy
1.9 Preferably two showers daily

2.1 Should be loose fitting, comfortable and non-constricting
2.2 Tight jeans or pantyhose that may constrict venous
circulation should be worn only for short periods
2.3 Wear moderate to low-heeled shoes
2. Clothing 2.4 Wear all cotton underwear
2.5 Do not use panty liners
2.6 Avoid perfumed soaps, lotion, perineal sprays, and harsh
laundry detergents to help and prevent irritation and
potential infection

3.1 1st trimester- Monthly


3. Prenatal visit 2nd trimester- Every two weeks of the month
3rd trimester- Every week of the month

4.1 Encourage the woman to take


TT1- at first contract with woman 14-45 years or first PNC
visit
4. Tetanus toxoid TT2- at least 4 weeks, after TT1
TT3- at least 6 months, after TT2
TT4- at least 1 year, after TT3
TT5- at least 1 year, after TT4

5.1 Prenatal exercise


 Abdominal Muscle Contraction
 Pelvic rocking
5. Exercise  Kegel exercise
 Squatting
 Tailor sitting

5.2 Postpartum exercise

 Abdominal breathing
 Chin to chin
 Arm raising
 Abdominal crunches
 Perineal contraction

6.1 Baby’s head and back of neck should be supported


6.2 The baby’s lower lip is curled outward
6.3 Abdomen to abdomen contact
6.4 No visible of areola
6.5 Cradle hold position
6. Breast feeding
6.6 Cross cradle hold
6.7 Side lying position
6.8 Saddle position
6.9 Inclined position
