What is a Peer Facilitator?
A peer facilitator is an emotionally
mature student leader who
recognizes and intervenes in
problems identified at school.
A peer facilitator helps others work
through their problems by offering
emotional support as well as guidance
regarding different situations.
Use their life experiences to help
relate to others facing similar
circumstances.
As they help others, peer facilitators
also frequently see an increase in
their own self-confidence and ability
to handle conflict.

called peer counselors.

Peer Facilitators are trained and supervised to

listening and understanding
friendship and support

Students often seek help from other
students with whom they can relate with
whenever they experience some
frustration, worry or concern.
OBJECTIVES
1. To provide the opportunity to establish
meaningful and caring relationships with their
peers.
2. To train in helping skills such as: listening,
empathy, communications and problem-
solving.
3. To provide the opportunity to participate in
positive school activities initiated by the
Guidance Services Center.
4. To develop and enhance leadership, self-
esteem and inter-personal skills.
5. To extend the guidance services of the
school through the use of Peer Facilitators.
