This course provides students with thefundamental knowledge and skills to use Windows PowerShell for administeringand
automating administration of Windows servers. This course provides studentsthe skills to identify and build the command they
require to perform a specifictask. In addition, students learn how to build scripts to accomplish advancedtasks such as automating
repetitive tasks and generating reports. This courseprovides prerequisite skills supporting a broad range of Microsoft products,
includingWindows Server, Windows Client, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePointServer, Microsoft SQL Server,
System Center, and more. In keeping with thatgoal, this course will not focus on any one of those products, although
WindowsServer, which is the common platform for all of those products, will serve asthe example for the techniques this course
teaches.

Use PSProviders and PSDrives to work with other forms of storage.

Query system information by using WMI and CIM.

Work with variables, arrays, and hash tables.

Write basic scripts in Windows PowerShell.

Write advanced scripts in Windows PowerShell.

Administer remote computers.

Use background jobs and scheduled jobs.

Use advanced Windows PowerShell techniques.

Who Can Benefit


This course is intended for IT Professionals whoare already experienced in general Windows Server and Windows
Clientadministration, and who want to learn more about using Windows PowerShell foradministration. No prior experience with
any version of Windows PowerShell, orany scripting language, is assumed. This course is also suitable for ITProfessionals
already experienced in server administration, including ExchangeServer, SharePoint Server, SQL Server, System Center, and
others.

Prerequisites

Previous Windows Server and Windows Client management knowledge and hands-on experience

Experience installing and configuring Windows Server into existing enterprise environments, or as standalone installations

Knowledge and experience of network adapter configuration, basic Active Directory user administration, and basic disk

configuration

Knowledge and hands-on experience specifically with Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 would be beneficial
