A new phase of life is now beginning for you. You will be studying at Esslingen University
of Applied Sciences either in a bachelor’s program for the next three or four years, in an
international student exchange program for half a year, or in an international master’s
program for 18 months. We wish you every success with your studies and hope that you
feel at home here in Esslingen.
Alongside your studies, there are a great many activities that are intended to make
studying easier, to help you attain additional qualifications, and to help you maintain a
balance between studies and recreation. We have compiled these activities in a “USB-
Stick”.
Take the time to inform yourself about these opportunities. In the following pages, we
have listed a few links that will take you to the relevant areas of our university website.
You can access this USB-Stick again and again - not only to find out more but also to
save the information that is relevant to your studies.
Access to the portal is via your personal log-in code. In the portal, there is information
about your lecture timetables (LSF), teaching platform, university administration, your
student union representative at AStA, important dates and much more.

Problems?
The Student Advice Centre gives you:
• Information (e.g. courses of study, financing your studies, studying with a child),
advice (personal matters, orientation, exam anxiety, crises in motivation and coping)
and coaching (time management, study techniques, dealing with stress)
• Mentoring (students from higher semesters help you find your way at the beginning of
your studies)
• Competence courses (free seminars on study techniques, public speaking, Excel,
applications, etc.)
• Online Advice (from students for students: a forum for sharing information and

Alumni support new students
In the Association of Friends of Esslingen University of Applied Sciences (VDF) and in
other fraternities / sororities, former students have come together with the aim of
helping students both financially and in non-financial ways.

After finishing your studies, you can register as an alumnus / alumna and thus always
remain in contact with your fellow students and with the university. You are also given
information about life-long learning and other possibilities that are important for your
career.
Eating and accommodation, student loans (BAföG), child care and advice
The Stuttgart Student Union supports you during your studies with its diverse services
and can also help with legal, social and personal problems. To this end, the Student
Union offers a range of advisory services, rooms and apartments in 31 accommodation
complexes as well as a variety of meals and drinks in 17 restaurants and cafeterias.
Moreover, the Student Union has seven child care centres and can process your BAföG
applications.

Number before the point: refers to the building number
Numbers after the point: refer to the room number, whereby the first number gives the
floor within the building. If the first number has a minus sign, this means that the room
is in the basement.
