Activity 2 (reflection)

1. Why is it important to resolve a conflict?


Conflict resolution is a vital skill that learners need to learn. There are
positive outcomes in resolving a conflict properly. First, it establishes a
positive manners. Student will develop a good attitude in handling
conflicts. Second, it builds a relationship. It can foster an open
environment. Another benefit of conflict resolution is that it enhances the
commitment between conflict relationships. Also, it leads to goal
achievement. Lastly, conflict resolution can also lead to new insights.

2. How does it benefit you?

It allows me to move beyond my own emotions and opinions to


make decisions in a certain situation. It enables me to work well with other
people. It creates a healthy and collaborative environment that will foster
a good relationship. This enables me to consider others’ perspectives and
practice being open minded and flexible.

3. What conflict do you notice that you are more likely to be in? Why is this?
To my mind, I am more likely to be in group conflicts. Group conflicts
involves clashing of ideas. The most common problems for this conflict are
an absence of leadership and coordination, an inability to communicate
effectively, and trouble maintaining equal participation. This is why some
people misunderstand each other. It can cause tension between the
people involved. The most common causes of conflict within groups are
faulty communication, attribution errors, mistrust, grudges and personal
clashes.

4. What can you do to lessen the possibility for conflict?


Here are some conflict resolution methods that I can suggest:
 Brainstorm to find solutions or compromises.
 Insist on criticism being given appropriately and constructively.
 Listen with an open mind.
 Don’t disagree immediately.
 Do not engage in blaming. Deal with each conflict.
 Confront the issue as a problem to be solved.
 Share the problem.
 Take responsibility for your actions.
 Work as a group.
