Learning journal
Throughout my stay in ID 11, I learned many things. It taught me the basics of rendering.
And, most especially, it taught me the basics on how to perceive things. This includes
perspective and color theory. It also taught me proper composition meaning that there should
be balance between all design elements. At first I thought I wasn’t learning due to always
having grades such as 2 2.5, and etc. It made me think that are my works just for the average
level. I wondered whether my works were all half-baked or “pwede na”. Then, I realized that I
should practice more. And so, I did. Doing so, I learned more in and out of class. Sometimes I
reviewed other classes’ topics earlier so that I’d just practice my line strokes when I attend
class. I was happy with what I was doing. Then, I got into an accident which fractured my left-
hand which is my Dominant drawing hand. Though I was ambidextrous the precision and
accuracy of strokes of my left hand couldn’t be achieved with my right hand. I still practiced
even though my hand is in pain. After a month of rest, I then realized that my hand strokes
changed so I practiced more and more. Actually I never thought I will improve just with what
I’m doing but then suddenly when I made the Mixed media plate, I found myself amazed with
what I’ve done. It’s the most satisfying work I’ve done so far. This encouraged me to more and
practice better. And so at the end of the sem….even though pending plates piled up due to my
hand being fractured. Ihave done some and successfully passed the.

One of my strengths is that I am eager to learn. I am determined to learn more.

However, I sometimes find myself insecure of others. Their works are so great but mine…is
just..for the average level? Insecurity is my weakness but I am thankful that I have my best
friend who always gives me lifting words. My favorite medium so far is pen and Ink, and
markers. But however, I don’t find myself good enough with these mediums so I tend to
practice more in using them and also with other mediums.

I once entered self-taught, incorrect in perceiving things, and no color basis. Now, I
leave with lots of knowledge and wanting to learn more.
