piece of paper.
4. Instruct the students to retrieve one pair of scissors and one glue stick
from the available buckets located in front of them and then sit down
at the desks.

5. Next, they are to cut out the bucket filler and bucket dipper vocabulary
list and place them in front of them on the desk.
The students are to organise their vocabulary word list in front of
them, into positives and negatives. The educator can use the
following prompts to scaffold discussion:
o Is saying kind words to others a good or bad thing?
o Is hitting or pushing others a good or bad thing?
o Where do you think this one goes?
Once finished instruct the students to put their scissors back in the bucket.

6. Once the students have sorted out their Kindness words, instruct the
students to glue the words onto their Bucket Filler Activity page
provided by the educator (ensure the students names are on each
page).

7. To evaluate the students understanding of the activity they are

partaking in, they are to explain verbally to the educator “I can fill
someone’s bucket by…”. However, if the students do not understand
the question, it may be rephrased to “How can you be kind to
someone else?”

8. If time permits, the students may colour in the illustrations on their

10:20am page.

As recess takes place at 10:30am if some students have not completed the
activity they will do so after recess.

Lesson Closure:
At the closure of the table top activity, invite the students to share their
thoughts and feelings on the positive and negatives of School Kindness in
relation to their activity sheet. Questioning
The educator must scaffold answers and invite questioning from all students
participating in the table top activity.
The closure of the lesson is completed when the students are completing the
activity as the classroom is very play based.

Assessment:
The students are observed during their play and this is recorded in two ways:
1. The students are recorded in a simple rubric with the headings Checklist
“Objective One and Two”.
2. Anecdotal notes to assist the educator in identifying whether the Anecdotal Notes
adjectives are met.
Assessment focuses on the students’ enjoyment of the learning process
rather than a product as the activity is mostly child led as they are the ones
choosing the appropriate behaviours which in turn makes the activity open
ended.
