First ASWA high school softball rankings feature 4 defending class champions at No.

1
Four defending class champions are No. 1 in the first Alabama Sports Writers Association softball
rankings.

Class 7A Fairhope, Class 5A Springville, Class 2A G.W. Long and Class 1A Brantley all won titles in 2018
and open the season at No. 1.

Other No. 1 teams are Class 6A Northview, Class 4A Alabama Christian, Class 3A Pisgah and AISA
Autauga Academy.

Fairhope downed Spain Park, ranked No. 2 in Class 7A to start the season, for its first softball title in
school history.

Northview earned its first No. 1 ranking in school history, besting the previous high of No. 2 to start
the 2011 season while Springville has captured the past four Class 5A titles.

Class 3A top-ranked Pisgah leads the AHSAA with nine championships while Class 4A top-ranked
Alabama Christian is second with eight titles.

Class 2A G.W. Long won its first title last season and Brantley has won four of the past five Class 1A

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018 is really enough of a progressive for today’s Democratic Party. Early polls
show Sanders and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., are largely seen as the most progressive
candidates in the race. In one University of New Hampshire survey released on the last day of
February, Sanders was considered the most progressive among 44 percent of respondents. Warren
was the choice of 10 percent. O’Rourke was way back and the choice of just 2
