Handling Asymetrical Load

No Procedure
1 Check that all crane systems are already inspected and in proper condition
2 Check the travel route to ensure sufficient clearance during lifting
Check the destination area for adequate clearance as well as for adequate support strength to support
3
the load once it is placed down
4 Determine and identify load's center of gravity
5 Attach slings to the load above the center of gravity (C.O.G)
6 Equalize the loading on multiple leg slings and maintain balance load
Slowly lift the load until it just begin to rise off the ground . Stop to see if load will rise evenly or it
7
will tilt
a. If the load tilts, lower immediatly and reposition rigging components to prevent load from listing
Repeat the test tilt, if problems occurs stop the tilt and reexamine the lift plan recomendation for
b.
rigging pipe spool as well as the location of center of gravity (C.O.G)
8 After the load balanced, warn everyone in area of impending lift
9 Proceed by lifting slowly and moving the spool slowly abd moving towards destination
Lower the load slowly, make sure that the lines up correctly with any blocks/supports that might be
10
needed
11 Detach the rigging and secure the equipments
