II. PURPOSE.
The testimony is offered for the following purpose:

1. To prove that the complainant, JUAN S. DELA CRUZ, seek medical attention as
a result of the injuries he sustained.

2. To prove the fact of injury sustained by the complainant, JUAN S. DELA CRUZ
and that such injury was caused by a blow in the head.

3. That after examining the victim, she recommended for a healing and rest
period of three (3) days.

4. All other related matters, facts and circumstances relevant and material to
this case.

PRELIMINARY QUESTIONS

Q: Please state your name and profession for the benefit of the court.

A: My name is Dr. Mimee E. Marcos, a medical and forensic doctor.

Q: Kindly state your educational background leading to your profession as of this date.

A: I obtained by Bachelor of Science in Biology Degree from the University of the


Philippines Diliman in the year 1990. Thereafter, I went to medical school in the
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine, graduated in 1994 and passed the
medical board exams in 1996. I further continued my studies and obtained a Master’s
Degree in Criminal Justice with specialization in Forensic Medicine from Princeton
University in 2000.

Q: What is your current profession?

A: I am currently working in West Metro Medical Center, Zamboanga City.

Q: How long have you been practicing your profession as a medical doctor?

A: For more than 20 years now starting the year I passed the medical board examinations.

Q: What do you do as a private medical practitioner?

A: I conduct external and internal physical examinations of individuals.

Q: When did you start practicing your profession as a medical practitioner conducting with
these types of examinations?

A: From 1995 up to present.

Q: Is this your first time to testify in court?


A: No, this is not my first time.

Q: To the best of your knowledge how many times have you testified as an expert witness?
A: I have made 90 testimonies as an expert witness as of this date.

Q: Having been stated these information about your years of experience as a medical doctor
can you say with absolute certainty that you are qualified to testify as an expert witness to
attest the cause of the injuries sustained by Juan S. Dela Cruz?

A: Yes, I am.

DIRECT EXAMINATION PROPER

Q: Where were you on December 1, 2018 at around 2:00pm?

A: I was at the West Metro Medical Center

Q: Were you tasked to perform an examination on the victim Juan S. Dela Cruz?

A: Yes. I was tasked to examine the injuries of Juan S Dela Cruz.

Q: Can you describe the body of the victim upon seeing it?

A: Contusion at the right side back temple with a swelling on the face.

Q: Can you please discuss the examination you conducted on the body.
A: I conducted a physical examination on the body to determine the cause of the injury.

Q: What were your findings?

A: My findings are as follows:

- A small contusion, raised, swollen area from a bump or a bruise.


- Small, superficial (shallow) cut in the scalp.
- Localized swelling and redness on the face cause by brief encounter or exposure with
a hot material.
Contusions happen when a blow or repeated impacts crush and break these tiny
blood vessels, causing some blood to leak out below the skin’s surface. Bruises may
appear immediately after an injury or take up to 24 hours to show. Often, an initial
contusion will look black, blue, or purple, but it may change color over the course of
the healing process. For the first few days, the injury may be sore, especially to the
touch.

Q: Based on your findings, what in your best knowledge is the cause of the injuries of the
victim?

A: The victim sustained the injuries due to a heavy blow/impacts/punch.

Q: Do you affirm that you prepared, issued, and signed this medical certificate? (LEADING!
NO BASIS! LOL)

A: Yes.
Q: Do you confirm that the contents of this is true and correct and are you willing to sign
this as your conformity to all that has been stated in this document?

A: Yes.
