UC Questions

Q1: ​Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem

solving, original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you

express your creative side

I express my creative side with innovative thinking and artistically, I also express my

creative side on the basketball court. I express my creative side artistically because I like to draw

and it create what I’m thinking and just make random pictures I have ideas about like drawing a

supreme logo but broken and random lines that i have ideas about. In my art class we have visual

diaries that are due every week and I like to show my creativity with stickers, drawing,

newspaper, tin foil, cotton swabs, or anything that I’m thinking of. In the visual diary you can

put anything you want and it can be any way you like it to be, It’s basically your own ideas and

your the creator. I also show my creative side by thinking outside of the box like if we have a

project in class I sometimes think outside of the box and ask myself if i should go with my idea

or not. I also think outside of the box during test because you never know if the question is trying

to trick you or not. I also like to show my creative side on the basketball court because for me

It’s more fun to be creative and try new tricks on the court instead of doing the simple tricks. For

example I like to do crossovers and you have to be creative with the basketball you have to make

a combination like a crossover then a step back then hesitate to take a shot then go for the layup.

Q2:​. Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or

worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.

 I have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity by taking algebra 1

during the 7th grade and I took that chance and took algebra 1 even though i was supposed to be

taking 7th grade math. But i failed one semester of it and I had to retake it the next year for 8th

grade. I worked my ass off because if I didn’t pass that class I wouldn’t be able to culminate 8th

grade.So I got a good grade for that class and that’s a barrier i have faced in school. I have faced

another barrier in school was during my 11th grade year second semester and I was failing

chemistry and had a D in chemistry. If i didn’t pass those two classes I would have a low gpa and

probably not get in to csu, well i could’ve went to csu even though i failed those two classes but I

wouldn’t but i would need a really high gpa. I had to stay after school and do tutoring hours to

finish my work and luckily I passed both classes. I would have been stressed this senior year if I

didn’t pass because I would need a really good score on the SAT.

Q3:​ What would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How have you developed and

demonstrated that talent over time?

One of my most meaningful talent or skills is playing basketball, it is one of my

meaningful talents to me because I’ve been playing since I was 10 years old and I fell in love

playing. I have developed my talent by practicing a lot and putting in hard work in the gym. I

feel like this is my greatest talent because I play almost everyday and work on my game

everyday to get better. I have demonstrated my talents by playing on the team and showing off

my skills on the court during the games and during the practices. I would say my favorite player

right now is Lebron James because he could do anything on the court pass,shoot,drive, and
rebound. I say I play like a shooter and dribbler because I can shoot the ball and can cross people

up and shoot it in there face.

Q4:​Think about an academic subject that inspires you. Describe how you have furthered

this interest inside and/or outside of the classroom

A subject that inspires me is art and it inspires me to create and draw your ideas on a

sketchbook and draw logos or create original art your way. I have furthered this interest inside

school by taking two art classes painting and art history. I like painting because I’m learning a

new style of art and learning different types of art’s made by the greats like donatello and

leonardo da vinci. I like art because it shows my creative side and art can be anything you want

or visualize. I like art because there is no right or wrong because it's your own ideas unlike other

subjects in school you can get things wrong and right but in art there is no right or wrong unless

your trying to copy and artwork.I like art because if you’ve been to LACMA there are dope art

there that are worth a lot and take pictures of its very different because the its the artists ideas

and there creativity.
