Essential Questions or Driving Questions:


1. What is domestic violence?
2. Who are the victims of domestic violence?
3. Recognize the signs of domestic Violence?
4. What are some ways does domestic violence affect individually; psychologically,
socially, financially, economically, culturally, and religiously?
5. What are the thoughts and ideas students might have that can help domestic
violence victims?

Standards:
Empower students to take active roles against domestic violence and find ways to
express themselves creatively using various forms of media tools.

Overview and Timeline


For this class, learners will be exploring different media tools that they will need
to complete their course assignments. Additionally, learners will explore some web-
based resources on domestic violence issues. Using course reading materials and
various forms of technology or media tools, learners will demonstrate knowledge
obtained from the course and apply contents with the media tools to share knowledge,
express thoughts and ideas that they might have about domestic violence, and they will

also learn about victims of domestic violence and how they can provide supports to
victims and survivors of domestic violence.
To start, I have created 3 lesson activities that will guide learners in applying
knowledge acquired from this domestic violence course where they will be able to
explore, participate and engage during the learning process. I have also included various
web-based technology that educators and learners will be able to explore during their
participations in this course. Many of these presented tools will provide educators and
learners with an excellent opportunity to decipher the various media tools that can
enhance the learning environment and their learning experiences.

Timeline: This course unit will be completed within 6 weeks:


Since this is an online course, all course reading materials, web-based resources and
media tools will be available online for learners to explore.

Week 1
Learner will be introduced to the course outlines, course content, media tools, and
additional resources to complete their course assignments.

Week 2
Learners will participate in Flipgrid video recording assignments as part of class discussions as
they are beginning to engage in their learning by sharing and discussing ideas, they might have
on how they can support domestic violence victims.
Learners will only have to log to the course assignment page for this segment.
Video tutorial for Flipgrid will be available on the course assignment page to guide
students of how to proceed with their participation on Flipgrid.

For the purpose of this final project, Learner can access Flipgrid only using

Learners Introduce themselves in 3-5 minutes video and they will share
thoughts and ideas they might have on how to help on domestic violence
victims.

Week 3
Learner will explore the ISTE-S for Students to learn how to best incorporate the
knowledge gained from this course with the media tools as they work collaboratively
with peers.

Week 4- Learner will conduct the first lesson activity


First, this lesson activity will consist of the Wheel of Power and Control of Domestic
violence, Media Tools for group video conference and series of questions that pertain to
domestic violence and its victims.

Peer Group Conference:


Learners will be assigned to work in groups of 3 to discuss knowledge and
understanding learned from the course materials using media tools as they work
collaboratively with peers through video conference.
Learners must review the list of their group members and contact members of their
group via school email to establish rapport and initial discussions.
Learners will work together to discuss assignment questions.
Learner can select one of two questions listed to discussion during their group

1. Upon completing this activity, learners will save and upload their videos
individually to the course assignment page to be graded in addition to a
reflective paper of 300-400 words describing their experiences with peers
2. Present a voice recording and video recording by addressing the assignment
questions (recording can be a 5 to 7 minutes discussion for the educator.

Week 5 Lesson #2 activity- this lesson has 3 separates activities.


Learners will be participating in a Voice Thread activity discussion to engage with their peers by
analyzing the Power of control Wheel of domestic violence as well as watching a YouTube video
detailing domestic violence on its victims and A Domestic Violence Poster

to use their own discretion.
• Learners will engage in three different activities for this lesson: learners can
engage in these activities by typing, voice or video recording their responses.

Week 6 lesson # 3 (Closure and Reflection Paper)
Learners will submit a summary of their experiences with media tools they have used
during the course and personal reflection on domestic violence with the impact on
victims.

Outline for Submission


• Learners will reflect on the course process, knowledge and shared experiences.
• Learners will discuss some of their challenges with both media and content of
the course materials regarding domestic violence.
• Learners will address what they learned from peers.
• Learners will address some lingering questions with comments and concerns
they might still have about domestic violence and victims
• Reflective paper will consist of 3 to 5 pages (12 fonts, double space and using Word
Doc/Google Doc)

Assessment:
Using formative assessments, learners will be able to demonstrate knowledge acquired
from this course using various lesson activities, and media tools. In Addition, a rubric will
be used as a grading system to assess students’ learning ability in all completed lesson
activities during the course session.

Educator’s Preparation:
Educator will be required to be the expert on domestic violence issues as well as being proficient
on all media tools provided to students to properly guide students in their learnings.
Furthermore, educator is responsible to be familiar with ISTE Standard for students to
effectively align learners in their learning experiences.

Educator will guide learners with various forms of media tutorial tools for their learning
during this class. Course webpage was creating in Weebly to provide learners direct
access to learning lessons where they can easily navigate through the lesson activities.
Learners will be able to interact with the peer using multimedia tools presenting in site
and participate in various forms of activities where they will learn about some critical
elements of Domestic Violence and the detrimental effects it has on victims.

Reason(s) for the chosen technology(s): Since this course will be conducted entirely online,
all lesson activities will be also conducted online, multimedia tools will be used in this
course so students can learn to work collaboratively with peers as they share
knowledge and engage in class discussions. Learners will be able to apply knowledge
obtained from this course to socially engage with their peer for a more positive learning
experience.

Instructional Plan

Management: All lessons will be conducted online, learners will be working in group and at time
individually on all lesson activities for this course. The goal for this online course is to provide a
flexible environment where learning can occur at any time and place using accessible web-based
programs. Learners will be guided through a constructive and enhanced learning atmosphere
using various instructional tools so they can connect and stay more engaged as they support and
collaborate with peers taking an active role in the learning experience.
