Variation
There are 7 levels of classification, KINGDOM, PHYLUM, CLASS, ORDER, FAMILY, GENUS and SPECIES. The highest
classification level "KINGDOM' incorporates organisms that share only a few important features. Modern taxonomy
recognises five kingdoms.
Animalia (animals) // Plantae (plants) // Fungi (fungi)
// Procaryota (bacteria) // Protoctista (algae, protozoans, slime moulds)

Name Definition Example

Vertebrates Animals that have a backbone are called vertebrates Reptiles, Birds, Mammals, Fish
Invertebrates Animals that don't have a backbone are called invertebrates insects; crabs, lobsters and their kin;
snails, clams, octopuses and their kin;
starfish, sea-urchins and their kin; and
worms

(Vertebrates) Vertebrates that live under water Although jellyfish and crayfish have
the word ‘fish’ in their name, they
aren’t actually fish.
Funghi Fungi are a group of living organisms which are classified in Mushrooms. Mold. Yeast.
their own kingdom. This means they are not animals,
plants, or bacteria.
(1) fungi cell walls are composed of chitin rather than
cellulose (plants) and 2) no photosynthesis

Flowering Life-cycle of a Flowering Plant Flowering plants follow a Tulip, Lily, Lotus, Jasmine, Rose, Daisy
Plants specific life cycle.  Germination Sprout or seedling

which group it belongs to by answering the questions

 When they wanted to look at similarities and differences, scientists divided plants and animals into
groups. There are two types of plants and two types of animals. What are they?
