The ‘FUNdamentals of Learning’ training series is designed to provide schools with an ongoing CPD

opportunity, which covers the core aspects of working with children. Delivered via live webinars, it provides
teachers the platform to learn new, interesting, and practical methods to help facilitate better learning in
their classroom. The core ethos of the series is to take universal evidence based behavioral science and shape
it into meaningful takeaways, with a focus on creating a more inclusive learning environment regardless of
learner type, ability, or behavioral maturity.

Baruch Spiegel has drawn upon his 15 years working in the

field of Applied Behavior Analysis, during which time he has
encountered numerous teaching environments within a wide
range of different cultures. Using his scientific background,
combined with a proclivity towards functional advice, he
believes that educators who craft their classrooms around
these fundamentals will experience, not only greater success
from their students, but also have much more fun along way.

There are three different levels to pass your teaching staff

through and must be completed sequentially.

Level 1 (Beginner) is the introductory level that all teachers

must go through first. Covering the key topics with easy-to-
understand information.

Level 2 (Intermediate) builds upon what the teachers have

already learned and takes them deeper into the world of
behavioral analysis and how these concepts can be better
applied in the classroom

Level 3 (Advanced) focuses on more complex issues, which

require a sound previous understanding.
What Topics are Covered?
Topic 1 – Creating Positive Associations
One of the fundamental principles of behavioral science is the way
associations can be made, both positive and negative, when two forces
interact. In this topic, we help create a working understanding of this, and
how it can be utilized to facilitate shaping of new behaviors and the
removal of unwanted ones.
Topic 2 – Understanding Motivation
Generating motivation in others is the essential key for participation.
When a child is motivated to participate then the opportunity for learning
is created. This session will unveil the mechanics around motivation and
how some simple steps can transform a learning environment.
Topic 3 – Dealing with problem Behavior Part 1
Disruption in the classroom is the single biggest issue in schools today.
Teachers and management alike, now spend a disproportionate amount of
time dealing with disruptive children and their parents. Part 1 looks at the
functions of problem behavior, how to identify them, and create data that
will facilitate positive change.
Topic 4 – Dealing with problem Behavior Part 2
Continuing on from part 1, we now move into the realm of applying
strategies to combat problem behavior and transform disruption into
participation. Part 2 also looks into how to get the parents involved and
craft a home-school relationship that compliments one another.
Topic 5 – A.D.H.D
With such an increased prevalence in our mainstream schools, ADHD is
worthy of its own session. Within this topic, Baruch will provide a unique
view into the condition, providing a framework for identification,
understanding, and some simple but effective ways to help integrate
children with ADHD into the classroom.
Topic 6 – Character Education
When faced with all the challenges of the previous 5 topics, it’s important
to take a step back and look at the big picture. This session will provide a
framework for teaching character within the classroom, during after
school clubs, and at home. It will leave the teachers feeling hopeful for the
future and galvanize the team’s efforts moving forward!
