Country Profile: Vietnam

1. Geography

Vietnam borders with China, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, The

Philippines, and Thailand. Vietnam’s capital city is Hanoi, it is located in the northern

side of the country, the weather is very hot and humid, the average is 69 degrees, making

it very uncomfortable for the people who live there. The longest River in southeast asia is

the Mekong River, the river reaches from “Tibet to China,to Myanmar, Lao PDR,

Thailand, Cambodia, the Vietnam delta and in to the south China sea.” (Mekong Flows)

The Mekong River helps provide food such a diversity of fish such as a giant catfish

which can reach 300 lbs (pounds), the Mekong is also used for transporting goods from

vietnam to China or Tibet to Myanmar.

2. Politics

The leader or head of Vietnam is Nguyen Phu Trong, 74 years and has started

leading since ,October 3, 2018, as vietnam is a communist government the controls the

production of goods and everyone starts out the same such as money, wealth, ect.

Although communist state Vietnam has been a fast economical country. Even though

most of our products say made in China, many of our electronics are from Vietnam, such

as Samsung, therefore helping Vietnam become the 10th largest agricultural largest

agricultural export market.

3. Economy

As many different countries have different currency, Vietnam has Vietnamese

Dong, which 1 US dollar equals 23,199.50 Vietnamese Dong, While Vietnam has GDP

of 223.9 billion US dollars or 5194368050000000.00 Vietnamese Dong and their GDP

growth is 6.8%. “Vietnam has rare earth elements, bauxite, chromate, copper, gold,

ect”(vietnam-briefing) That statement shows how their GDP is so high through help of

their resources, other resources that they export/import are oil, aquatic products,

footwear, electrotonic equipment, and way more items. Some items that they may

manufacture are rice, coffee and even Samsung! Although their GDP is very high their

economic policy is unstable or cautious, “Vietnam's economic policy following the 1997

Asian Financial Crisis has been a cautious one.”

4. Daily Life

The official language of vietnam as many have guessed is Vietnamese, although

there are Khmer, Cham, and many more but, Vietnamese is still the official. As of 2018 the

population of Vietnam is 95.54 million in comparison to China, isn’t a lot as China has 1.386

billion. One of the problems was infant death rates,“In 2017, the infant mortality rate in Vietnam

was at about 16.7 deaths per 1,000 live births.” Also including that according to dataworldbank

that the life expectancy was 76.25 years old. Some very strong religions that are in Vietnam are

Vietnamese folk religion, Confucianism, Buddhism and much more.
