Catholic board makes trustee races exciting

Say what you want about
nobody paying much attention to
school board elections, but Mon-
day night’s trustee race for the
London Catholic District school
board was a nail-biter.
The Thames Valley District
school board? Not so much.
In the end, it’s the dawn of a
new day — and much enthusiasm
— for the Catholic board, which
lost five long-serving incumbents
and more than a century of com-
bined experience to retirement
and other politics this year.
Meanwhile, it’s more of the
same for those in the public
board who appeared content
with the service they have been
receiving, failing to elect a single
new face in London.
Despite aggressive campaigns
by rookie candidates who ran
on their earnest enthusiasm for
education and for children, the
