Starting and Stopping the Engine

The engine starting and stopping methods depend upon the machine in which the engine is fitted.
Read this section in conjunction with the instruction manual supplied with the machine .

• Starting the Engine

1. Perform your daily inspections (Crank the engine after it has been stored for a long period.)
before starting the engine.

2. Disconnect all loading from the

engine. If a clutch is fitted,
disengage it.

3. Check that the area surrounding

the engine is safe, and warn
people nearby that you are about
to start the engine.

E0023
1. Operate the shutdown
mechanism to terminate
fuel injection and thereby
stop the engine.
Turn ON the battery switch. 2. Turn the starter switch to the

• Coolant

Take the following steps to prevent the coolant from freezing:

• Add antifreeze to the coolant to prevent freezing and
corrosion. Before the onset of winter, have your dealer check
whether the coolant's antifreeze concentration has decreased.
• When replacing the coolant, ensure that the new coolant's
antifreeze concentration is suitable for the region in which the
