Custom Pipe support creation

Good afternoon,

So far....I've created a standard pipe guide, have turned it into a block

and run PLANTPIPESUPPORTCONVERT. I get the graphical handles
in the 3D window, and the properties show this is effectively now a
support, but how do I get this into the catalog>pipespec file and
ultimately into the tool palette for selection?

Thanks (again) for your patience & help

Mike

Re: Custom Pipe support creation

Two ways you can do this.

1) At the top of the Pipe Support Spec Palette, click Add Pipe Support
> Use AutoCad Block.

2) Permanently Add it to your Pipe Spec (or create your own pipe
spec) :

• Open spec editor, Click catalogue editor, click create new

component.
• Advance shape options
• Under Graphic, click Custom - AutoCad DWG Block ...
• Add size, number of ports, then click Create
• Select model
• Add fields for ports such as nominal and matching diameters. Fill in
fields such as Long Description etc.
• Save.
• Restart Plant3D

Your custom support will appear in the palette..

Re: Custom Pipe support creation
I assume your block is for one pipe size only. If that is the case, you
may want to look at creating a python script to have it create the
support parametrically or have us create it for you. See our video at

Re: creating custom standard pipe

supports (toolpalette)
Hi buddy!!
In order to have your own P3D custom supports pallete, you need to
create your own PipeSupportsSpec.pspc file (don´t change it´s
name) with all your custom supports inside (delete P3D others if
needed) inside \CPak Common folder, and the
PLANTPARTCONVERT port must be pipe parallel (see imgs).
I hope this helps you!!

SKEY AND SPINDLE RELATIONSHIPS

PLANT 3D
Posted on DECEMBER 8, 2016 1:41 PM by DAVE WOLFE
In order to customize the operators for valves on isometrics, you need to
understand how the configuration for symbols is configured.
First, you can configure the valve skey either in the catalogs or from the
model directly.
To see the relationship between valves and their operator skey, you have to
open the IsoSkeyAcadBlockMap.xml in the project Isometrics folder. The
valve skey and block name are listed together. To locate the assigned
spindle key, scroll to the end of the file and find the section with
ValveToSpindleSkeyMap. This map relates the valve skey to a specific
Spindle skey. The ?? stand for the end types (ie FL, SC, SW). To find the
block associated with a spindleskey, scroll up and find the Valve Operators

symbols section.

After finding the spindle block name, open the

Isometrics\IsoSymbolStyles.dwg and find the block name you want to use or
modify.

How to create Isometric symbol for
rotameter?
There is a rotameter which is an inline asset in the routing.

Isometric symbol has been created but the drawing is split into 2 and
where the lines connect the rotameter symbol is also wrong.
How to create rotameter symbol which connects correctly to the port
and also don’t split the drawing? how can I get an iso like below (edited
with Autocad)

Re: How to create Isometric symbol
for rotameter?
You need to joke with Iso Symbol Type, change it to TYPE=ELBOW
!! Even if your custom part is a Valve, Instrument...
By entering: TYPE=ELBOW,SKEY=EUBW you will get a correct
isometric (tested over here), but with Bend-180Return block, so save
it as a new block and edit it with your needs!
