IIITs and CFTIs. Around 12 lakh students apply for the exam which is held twice

INTRODUCTION
Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is an undergraduate level national engineering entrance
exam conducted by the NTA for admission into the top engineering institutes all over
the nation. The examination is conducted twice a year. 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 CFTIs
participate in this exam. JEE Main also acts as the first stage or preliminary exam for the
JEE Advanced. The medium of the exam is English, Hindi and Gujrati, the examination is
conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The duration of the exam is 3 hours and
the questions are objective type or MCQs. Marking scheme in JEE Main sees 4 marks for
each correct answer, -1 for each wrong answer and 0 for un-attempted questions. The exam
is conducted in two parts: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I carries a weightage of 360 marks and
Paper II carries a weightage of 390 marks. The subjects of Paper I include Physics (30 ques-
tions, 120 marks), Chemistry (30 questions, 120 marks) and Mathematics (30 questions,
120 marks). The subjects of Paper II are Mathematics (30 questions, 120 marks), Drawing
(2 questions, 70 marks), Aptitude Test (50 questions, 200 marks).

●● Start with the text books, NCERT or state board and focus on the concepts as they build the foun-
dation.
●● Make short notes of the formulae with one example to help you reference, cram and for the ease of
access during last minute revisions.
●● Revise strong topics with good weightage rather than easte time on topics with less weightage. Top-
ics with less weightage are recommended too, but only after ample practice of the topics which have
better weightage and overall importance.
●● Take a mock test or solve a sample paper once a topic is done to strengthen the subject learnt.
●● Check questions from the topic from past year papers and closely monitor the types of question
asked and if they can be solved.
