8 MATERIALS FOR EXPANSION JOINTS FILLING
8.1 General provisions
8.1.1 The materials are designed to form expansion joints with gaps as specified in the
working drawings
8.2 Technical requirements
8.2.1 It is advisable to use materials of polystyrene foam type to fill the expansion joints
The material shall withstand loads from fresh concrete when concreting structures with
aheight of up to 5m.
Compressive strength at 10 % deformation - from 0.05 MPa to 0.2 MPa.
‘The material shall be waterproof, water absorption during 24 hours by the volume —max
0.1%.
Geometrical parameters of the materials and maximum deviations shall be established
in accordance with the Supplier’s or the Manufacturer’s specifications and shall comply with
these requirements.
‘The supplier shall guarantee compliance of the material with the present requirements,
provided that the Customer observes the requirements as to transportation, storage conditions and
the Supplier’s instructions for use of the material
8.3 Quality control and materials acceptance
8.3.1 Manufacture, testing, preservation, packaging, marking, acceptance and
transportation of materials shall be in accordance with a quality assurance program, developed
by the Manufacturer or Supplier, taking into account the Customer's requirements.
The quality of the materials shall comply with the requirements of technical
specifications or instructions for use of the materials and these technical requirements.
‘Acceptance of the materials shall be carried out in batches. Each batch shall be
‘manufactured according to the same manufacturing procedure and from the same components.
Test methods shall comply with the Manufacturer's or Supplier’s specifications
regarding basic requirements for:
— testing facilities
— measuring tools;
instruments;
— test preparation and performance procedure;
— result interpretation procedure.
Testing facilities, measurement tools and instruments are assigned by a laboratory
conducting tests taking into account main requirements of GOST 15588-86.
The following types of inspections shall be performed in the course of manufacturing
and acceptance of the materials:
incoming inspection;
— in-process inspections;
— acceptance inspections in the following scope and sequence:
1) inspection and testing;
2) completeness verification;
3) inspection of marking, preservation and packaging
The materials are subject to preliminary and acceptanc
facility.
Information confirming acceptance of the materials shall be included in the data sheet.

8.4 Requirements for packaging, transportation and storage
8.4.1 Transportation of the materials by railway, road and waterway transpo
performed with due consideration of climatic impacts.
The Supplier shall deliver a complete package of the mat
documentation.
The materials shall be stored at the Manufacturer's and Customer's facility
consideration of climatic impacts.
The requirements for packaging, transportation and storage shall comply
technical requirements of the Manufacturer and climatic conditions at the construction
Warehousing and storage is provided by the Customer in accordance
Manufacturer's requirements.
8.5 Instructions for use
8.5.1 Expansion joints shall be filled in accordance with the working drawir

8.6 Quality control and works acceptance
8.6.1 The Customer’s quality control personnel carries out the following insp

— quality control of works;
— works safety monitoring;
= environmental safety monitoring;
— acceptance of completed works
In the course of the works, the quality control personnel shall perform:
= quality control of concrete surfaces;
~ in-process inspections of expansion joints construction works.
Quality control and acceptance of completed works shall be carried out in a
with the requirements of technical specifications or the Supplier’s instructions on t
materials.
‘The Supplier's or Manufacturer's technical specifications and instructions for
materials shall contain safety requirements, including fire safety and environmental
requirements.
The impact on the environment shall not exceed the values specified in the
regulatory documents of the Customer.
