STITCH EXPLANATION
rev sc (reverse single crochet) Single crochet worked from left to right (right to
left, if left-handed). Insert hook into next stitch to the right (left), under loop on
hook, and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.
NOTES
1. The Shawl is worked in one piece from center outwards in a triangle
shape using 2 different yarns.
2. The work is turned at the end of every other row ONLY. The yarn is not
cut between color changes.
SHAWL
With A, ch 4.
Join with a sl st in first ch to make a ring.
Row 1: Ch 4 (beg ch-4 counts as dc, ch 1), dc in ring, (ch 1, dc in ring) 3 times.
You’ll have 5 dc. Place a marker on the center dc.
With your hook, elongate the loop on your hook and slip the loop off your hook. If
you like, place a marker on this last loop to keep it from unraveling.
Do NOT turn.
Join B with a sl st between the beg ch-4 and the very first dc made, so that you
are ready to work in the same direction as Row 1.
With your hook, catch the yarn A loop of the dc row and draw through the loop on
the hook, so that you are ready to work with yarn A.
Note
All sts in Row 3 are worked into the dc sts 2 rows below.
Row 3: With yarns A and B held together, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), TURN,
elongate and drop B.
With A, dc in first dc 2 rows below (skipping the previous row of sc and working
over the ch-1 sps), (ch 1, dc in next dc 2 rows below) to marked dc 2 rows below,
(ch 1, dc) 3 times in marked dc 2 rows below, move marker to the center dc, (ch
1, dc in next dc 2 rows below) to beg ch-4 2 rows below, (ch 1, dc) twice in 3rd ch
of beg ch-4 2 rows below.
Row 4: With B, ch 1, do NOT turn, sc in first ch-1 sp, (ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next
ch-1 sp) to marked dc, ch 2, sk marked dc, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 1, sk next dc,
sc in next ch-1 sp) to last 2 dc, ch 1, sk next dc, sc in last ch-1 sp.
With your hook, catch the yarn A loop of the dc row and draw through the loop on
the hook, so that you are ready to work with yarn A.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until Shawl measures about 35 in. (89 cm).
Fasten off.
