Blue Army Morning Offering

O my God in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary...... I offer Thee the Precious Blood of Jesus
from all the altars throughout the world, joining with it the offering of my every thought, word and
action of this day.
O my Jesus, I desire today to gain every indulgence and merit I can and offer them, together with
myself, to Mary Immaculate...... that She may best apply them to the interest of Thy most Sacred Heart.
Precious Blood of Jesus save us! Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us! Sacred Heart of Jesus, have
mercy on us. Amen.

Prayer to my Guardian Angel

Angel of God my guardian dear,
To Whom His love commits me here,
Ever this day, be at my side,
To light, to guard, to rule and to guide
From stain of sin, keep me free,
At the hour of death, my helper be.

Prayer Against Evil Thoughts

O Lord my God, be Thou not far from me: O my God make haste to help me: for various thoughts have
risen up against me, and great fears afflict my soul.
How shall I pass without hurt? How shall I over come them? Amen.

Prayer to Overcome the Habit of Sin

All ye Saints in heaven who, for a time here on earth, were under the power of the habit of sin; thy
victory over vice encourages me. By prayer, the Sacraments and self control, ye at last mastered thy
passions.
Grant, O! Lord, that, encouraged by their example, I may (by prayer, Confession, Holy Communion and
the practice of self control) soon master these passions, these habits of .... of mine that have been the
cause of so many sins of my past life.
O all ye penitent Saints, take an interest in me, pity me and pray for me.
Mary the Hope and Refuge of sinners, pray and intercede for me. Amen.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am sorry for all the sins I have committed during my life, since my last confession, and
since my last act of contrition.
O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and I detest them above all things, because they
have crucified my loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, and most of all, because they offend Thy Infinite
Goodness. I firmly resolve by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid
the occasion of sin. Amen.

To Prevent One Mortal Sin

O Mary, Immaculate Mother of Jesus, we beseech thee, to offer to thy Eternal Father the Precious
Blood of thy Divine Son, to prevent at least one mortal sin being committed somewhere in this world
today. Amen.

Prayer of Father Olier.

O Jesus! Who didst live in Mary, come and live in Thy servants, in the Spirit of Thy Own Holiness, in
the Fullness of Thy Power, in the reality of Thy virtues, in the Communion of Thy Mysteries have
dominion over every adverse power in Thy Spirit, to the glory of the Father. Amen.

Spiritual Communion
O my Jesus! (I turn towards the Holy Tabernacle where Thou liest hidden for the love of me.) I can not
receive Thee in Holy Communion at this moment. Come nevertheless into my heart, sanctify it, purify it,
render it like unto Thy Own.Lord, I am not worth for Thee to come into my heart. Say but the word and
my soul shall be healed.

Anima Christi
Soul of Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus! Hear me;
Within Thy wounds hide me;
Never permit me to be separated from Thee;
At the hour of death, call me;
And bid me to come to Thee;
And with Thy saints, I may praise Thee;
For ever and ever. Amen.

O Jesus, may my heart and all the hearts of the world burn for the love of Thee. Amen.
I love Thee, Jesus, my love above all things. I am sorry for having offended Thee. Never permit me to
offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee, always, and then do with me what Thou wilt. Amen.

Prayer before Meditation and Start of Day

O my God, as is Thy Holy Will, I am about to meditate. For my sanctification and Thy glorification,
please give me all the graces I need, and may I give Thee no cause to have judgement against me.
Come, O Divine Fire! Light Eternal, come and enkindle in my heart the Fire of Thy Divine Love,
enlighten my understanding and strengthen my will. Grant that I may always listen to Thy Voice, watch
for Thy Light and follow Thy Gracious Inspiration. Come and sustain my attention, guide, enlighten and
conduct me during this day (and meditation). Amen.
Holy Mary, Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God and my own dear mother, Our Lady of Good Councel,

Other Daily Intentions
Prayer for the Sick 1
Dear God, Thine only son took upon Himself the sufferings of the whole human race; through His
passion and cross He taught us how good can be brought out of suffering. Look upon our brothers and
sisters who are ill. In the midst of illness and pain, may they be united with Christ, Who heals both body
and soul. May they know the consolation promised to those who suffer. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer for the Sick 2

Hear Thy servants, O Lord, that are sick, and put their trust in Thee. Send them help, O Lord, and
comfort from Thy Holy Place.

Let us pray
O Almighty and ever lasting God, the eternal salvation of those who believe in Thee, hear us on behalf of
Thy servants that are sick, for we humbly crave the help of Thy mercy; that their health may be restored
if Thou seest that it is a good for them, and that they render thanks to Thee in Thy Church. Though
Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for the Dying

O Most Merciful Jesus, Lover of souls; I pray Thee, by the agony of Thy Most Sacred Heart, and the
sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thy own blood the sinners of the whole world who are in
their agony and are to die today. Amen.
Heart of Jesus, once in agony, have pity on the dying. Jesus mercy, Mary help all those dying today.
Amen.

Life Everlasting
Prayer of St. Augustine
Blessed are they who have passed over the great and wide sea to the eternal shore, and are now blessed
in their desired rest. Blessed are they who have escaped from all evils, and are secure of their unfading
glory in Thee, Thou kingdom of blessedness. How long shall I be tossed about on the waves of this
mortal life crying unto Thee, O Lord God, while Thou hearest me not? Hear me, O Lord, from this great
and wide ocean, and bring me to the everlasting haven. Amen.

Prayer for a Happy Death

Cardinal Newman
O my Lord and Saviour, support me in my last hour by the strong arms of Thy Sacraments and the
fragrance of Thy consolations. Let Thy absolving words be said over me, and the Holy Oil sign and seal
me; and let Thine own Body be my food, and Thy Blood my sprinkling; and let Thy Mother Mary come
to me, and my Angel whisper peace to me, and Thy glorious saints and my own dear patrons smile on
me; that, in Thy Church, in Thy Faith, and in Thy love. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR THE POOR SOULS IN PURGATORY

Prayer for the Dead
O God Who hast authority over life and death. God of the spirits and master of all flesh. God who killest
and makest alive. Who brings down to the gates of Hell and bringest up. Who createst the spirit of man
within him and takest to Thy self the souls of the saints and givest rest. Who alterest and transformest
Thy creatures, as is right and expedient, being Thyself alone unchangeable, unalterable, and eternal, we
beseech Thee for the repose and rest of Thy servant; give rest to their souls, their spirits, in green places
(in loco pascuæ, Ps. 22), in chambers of rest with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all Thy saints: and
raise up their bodies in the day which Thou hast ordained, according to Thy promises which cannot lie,
that Thou mayest render to them also the heritage of which they are worthy in Thy holy pastures.
Remember not their transgressions and sins. Heal the grief of their relatives and friends with the spirit of
consolation and grant unto us all a good end through Thy only begotten Son Jesus Christ, through
Whom to Thee is the glory and the strength in the Holy Ghost to the ages and ages. Amen.

Psalm 129: De Profundis

Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord! Lord, hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, Lord, who shall mark iniquities, Lord, who shall stand it?
For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness, and by reason of Thy law I have waited for Thee, O Lord.
My soul hath relied on His word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night let Israel hope in the Lord:
For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him plentiful redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel, from all his iniquities.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer to St. JosephThe Worker
(Prayer of one's work for the Glory of God.)
Glorious St. Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labour, obtain for me the grace to work in a
spirit of penance for the expiation of my sins; to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my
inclinations; to work with gratitude and joy, considering it an honour to employ and develop, by means
of labour, the gifts received from God; to work with order, peace, moderation, and patience without
ever recoiling before weariness or difficulties; to work above all .with purity of intention and with
detachment from self, having always death before my eyes and the account which I must render of time
lost, of talents wasted, of good omitted, of vain complacency in success, so fatal to the work of God. All
for Jesus, all for Mary, all, after thy example, O Patriarch Joseph. Such shall be my watch word in life
and in death. Amen

Prayer to Obtain the Grace to conquer our Passions.

Holy God, Father of mercies, Who hast created us only to serve Thee in the liberty of Thy children,
permit not that we should longer be subject to the degrading slavery of our passions, and assist us in the
struggles, without which we can never hope to escape from their oppressive bondage. O Lord Thy
knowest our weakness and the strength of the enemies who have dominion over us; Thou art the
continual witness of our faults and miseries; we are puffed up with pride; our feelings are embittered
with resentment and ill-humour; we are indolent in the discharge of duty, and the few good works we
perform are corrupted by self-love, which insinuates itself into our best actions.
O my God, how wretched a slavery for a soul, which notwithstanding these and innumerable other
miseries, desires to belong unreservedly to Thee alone! Our resolution is taken; whatever it may cost us,
we are determined to listen no more to the dangerous suggestions of our evil inclinations, but to avoid
sin and the passions which lead to it. In Thy name O Almighty God, we take up arms against the
enemies, which so many others have happily combated with the assistance of Thy grace. In Thy name,
also, we hope to gain the victory, through the merits of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Who, with
Thee and the Holy Ghost, livest and reignest one God, world without end. Amen

Prayer for the Conversion of a Relative

Heart of Jesus, I humbly kneel before Thee, adoring Thee as the Heart of my Lord and my God. Pardon
the sins by which I have offended Thee and render myself unworthy of Thy blessings. For Thy own sake,
for the honour and the glory of Thine infinite mercy, listen to my prayer for the grace and salvation of
my ............................ who has/have strayed. From all eternity Thou hast loved him/her/them; have
mercy on him/her/them now. Thou willest that my ...................... be converted and live. Effect in
him/her/them what Thou hast decreed. From the Cross Thou hast drawn all to Thyself; loosen the bonds
in which he/she/they lie chained. Thou hast brought him/her/them at a great price; take possession of
Thy property. Lead him/her/them to the fountain of pardon and grace which Thou hast opened in Thy
Church that he/she/they may receive new life.
Heart of Jesus, listen to my prayers, for Thou canst not hear unmoved a ......................... prayer for
his/her .............................. Grant me what is dearest to me on earth, the salvation of my
................................, and I will eternally praise Thy holy name. Amen.

Prayer to Obtain the conversion of sinners

O God, have mercy on me a sinner, and permit me to offer Thee my earnest supplications on behalf of all
souls in sin; for Thy willst not the death of the sinner, but his conversion. When Moses besort Thee to
pardon a rebellious nation, Thou couldst not resist his entreaties. It grieves Thee, when none interpose
to appease Thine anger; Thou commandest us to pray for one another assuring us that by causing a
sinner to be converted from the errors of his ways, we deliver our own souls from death, and cover a
multitude of iniquities. Relying on Thy merciful promises, I come before Thee with great confidence, to
implore for others the pity I so much need myself.
Forgive them O Lord! For they know not what they do; open their eyes, that, entering into themselves,
they may see the extent of their crimes, and feel how sad a misfortune it is to have forsaken Thee. Open
their ears to the sound of that almighty voice, which can raise the dead to life; soften the obduracy of
their hearts, that they may no longer resist Thy grace. Remember Thy tender mercies; remember the
precious blood of Jesus Christ; save the souls which have been purchased at so great a price. Hear our
prayers, inspired by the Spirit of Thine own charity, and offer from the sole motive of pleasing and
glorifying Thee. Amen.

A Prayer to Saint Aloysius.

O Angelic Saint! unworthy as I am to call myself thy client, I presume to recommend our spiritual
interests most earnestly to thy charitable care. Angel of purity! I beseech thee to intercede with the
spotless Lamb, and the virgins of Virgins, and to obtain for us the grace of preservation from all sin. I
conjure thee to impress our hearts with that holy love, which consumed thy soul, and rendered it a
victim of charity. I know that we can not claim the privilege of real devotion to thee, unless we
endeavour to imitate thy virtues; obtain for us then, I beseech thee, the grace to do so, earnestly and
perseveringly. Ask for us a tender love for God and for thy neighbour; in thy profound humility; in thy
spirit of prayer recollection, and union with God; in thy contempt for all that the world most esteems
and coverts. Ask that, like thee, we may place our happiness in Him who created us for Himself, and
that faithful adhered to His service during our life, we may enjoy the bliss of eternally beholding and
praising Him in thy company. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Anne.

With deep and heartfelt veneration I prostrate myself before thee, O Glorious Saint Anne. Thou art that
creation of privilege and predilection, who through thy extraordinary virtues and sanctity wast worthy to
receive from God the supreme grace of giving life to the treasure-house of all graces, blessed among
women, Mother of the Word Incarnate, the most holy Virgin Mary. Deign, therefore, O most
compassionate saint, for the sake of this lofty privilege, to receive me into the number of thy true
followers, for such I protest I am and desire to remain so as long as I live. Obtain for me by thy
powerful patronage those virtues with which thou wast so abundantly adorned. Grant that I may know
and bitterly lament my sins. obtain for me a lively affection for Jesus and Mary, and fidelity and
constancy in the practice of the duties of my state. Preserve me from every danger in life, and assist me
in the moment of my death, so that, safe in Paradise, I may unite with thee, most blessed Mother, in
praising the Word of God made man in the bosom of thy most pure child, the Virgin Mary. Amen.
Let us pray
Glorious St. Anne, filled with compassion for those who invoke thee, and with love for those who suffer,
heavily laden with the weight of my troubles I cast myself at thy feet, and humbly beg of thee to take the
present affair which I recommend to thee under thy special protection.
(......................................................................................................)Vouchsafe to recommend it to thy
daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it too a
happy issue. Cease not to intercede for me, until my request be granted. Above all obtain for me, the
grace of one day be holding my God face to face, and with thee and Mary, and all the Saints, praising
and blessing Him through all eternity. Amen.
O Good Saint Anne, mother of her who is our life, our sweetness and our hope, pray to her for us, and
obtain our requests. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Anthony.

O Wondrous St. Anthony, glorious worker of miracles, who hadst the happiness of receiving within thine
arms our blessed Lord under the guise of a little child, obtain for me of His bounty this favour that I
desire from the bottom of my heart. Thou who was so gracious unto poor sinners, regard not the lack of
merit of him that calls upon thee, but consider the call of God, which will be exalted once more through
thee, to the salvation of my soul and the granting of the petition that I now make with such ardent
yearning, (................................... ............................................................ )
As a pledge to my gratitude, I beg thee to accept my promise to live henceforth more agreeably to the
teachings of the Gospel and to be devoted to the service of the poor whom thou didst ever love so
greatly; bless this my resolution and obtain for me the grace to be faithful thereto even unto death. Amen
Let us pray.
Almighty and eternal God, who didst glorify Thy faithful confessor Anthony with the perpetual gift of
working miracles, graciously grant that what we confidently seek through his merits, we may surely
receive through his intercession. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Lord may our holy confessor Anthony intercede for us upon whom, adorned with heroic virtues, Thou
didst bestow the gift of miracles, even unto working prodigious signs and wounders. Through Christ our
Lord. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Anthony

for the restoration of things lost or stolen
O Blessed Anthony, the grace of God has made thee a powerful advocate of all necessities and the
patron for the restoration of things lost or stolen. O how many thousands hast thou miraculously aided
in the recovery of lost goods! To thee, therefore, I turn today with child-like love and heartfelt
confidence; to thee do I hasten, O Blessed Anthony; help me in my present affliction. I recommend what
I have lost, to thy care in the secure hope that thou wilt restore it to me, if it be to the greater glory of
God and to the spiritual benefit of my soul, so that I may praise thee and thank thee in time and eternity,
for thy glorious intercession in my behalf. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Jude.

Prayer in grievous affliction
O St. Jude Thaddeus, thou relative of Jesus Christ, thou glorious apostle and martyr, renowned for thy
virtues and miracles, faithful and prompt intercessor of all who honour thee and trust in thee! Thou art a
powerful patron and helper in grievous afflictions. I come to thee and entreat thee from the depths of my
heart, come to my aid with thy powerful intercession, for thou hast received from God the privilege to
assist with the thy manifest help, those who almost despair of all hope. Look down upon me, my life is a
life of crosses, my days are days of tribulations, and my heart is an ocean of bitterness. all my paths are
strewn with thorns and scarcely one moment passes but is witness of my tears and sighs. And withal, my
soul is enveloped in darkness, disquietude, discouragement, mistrust, yes, sometimes even a kind of
despair preys upon my soul. Divine Providence seems lost in my sight, and Faith seems to falter in my
heart. Overwhelmed by these thoughts, I see myself surrounded by a dark cloud. Thou canst forsake me
in this sad state. I will not depart from thee until thou hast heard me. Oh! hasten to my aid. I will honour
thee as my special patron. I will thank God for the graces bestowed upon thee, and will propagate thy
honour according to my power. Amen

Praise and thanksgiving

O Most Sweet Lord Jesus Christ, in union with the unutterable heavenly praise with which the Most
Holy Trinity extols itself and which hence flows upon Thy Sacred Humanity, upon Mary, upon all the
angles and saints, I praise glorify and bless Thee for all the graces and privileges Thou hast bestowed
upon Thy chosen apostle and intimate friend, Jude Thaddeus. I pray Thee for the sake of his merits,
grant me the grace, and through his intercession come to my aid in all my needs, but especially in the
hour of my death deign to strengthen me against the rage of my enemies. Amen.

Novena to St. Martha

O St Martha, I resort to thee and to thy petition and faith, I offer up to thee this light which I shall burn
every Tuesday for nine Tuesdays. Comfort me in all my difficulties through the great favour thou didst
enjoy when Our Saviour lodged in thy house. I beseech thee to have definite pity in regard to the favour
I ask (mention favour). Intercede for my family that we may always be provided for in all our
necessities. I ask thee St. Martha to overcome the dragon which thou didst cast at thy feet.
One Our Father and three Hail Marys, and a lighted candle every Tuesday and the above prayer made
known with the intention of spreading devotion to St. Martha. This miraculous saint grants everything
before the Tuesdays are ended,. no matter how difficult.

Prayer To St Rita
Saint of the impossible

O Holy Patroness of those in need, St. Rita, whose dealings before the Divine Lord are almost
irresistible. Who, for thy lavishness in granting favours hast been called the Advocate of the Hopeless
and even of the Impossible. St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such
compassionate love for thy Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest,
on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee, expecting, if not always relief, at least
comfort. Be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant. Be
lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine
own devotion, and the consolation of those who trust in thee. We promise, if our petition is granted, to
glorify thee by making known thy favour, to bless and to sing thy praises forever. Relying then upon thy
merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray thee grant that (Here mention your
request).
Obtain for us our request:
By the singular merits of thy childhood,
By thy perfect union with the Divine Will,
By thy heroic sufferings during thy married life,
By the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband,
By the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God
By thy miraculous entrance into the convent,
By thy severe penances and thrice daily bloody scourging,
By thy sufferings caused by the wound thou didst receive from the thorn of thy Crucified Saviour.
By the divine love which consumed thy heart,
By that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, on which thou didst exist for four years,
By the happiness with which thou didst part from thy trials to join thy Divine Spouse,
By the perfect example thou gavest to people of every state of life,

V. Pray for us St. Rita,

R. That we may be the worthy promises of Christ.

Let us pray
O God, Who in Thy infinite tenderness hast vouchsafed to regard the prayer of Thy servant, Blessed
Rita, and doest grant to her supplication that which is impossible to human foresight, skill and efforts, in
reward of her compassionate love and firm reliance on Thy promise, have pity on our adversity and
succour us in our calamities, that the unbeliever may know Thou art the recompense of the humble, the
defence of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Thirty Days Prayer

To the Blessed Virgin Mary in Honour of the Sacred Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. By the devout
recital of this prayer during thirty days, without a break, we may firmly hope to obtain our lawful
request. It is particularly recommended as a proper devotion for every day in Lent, and all the Fridays
throughout the year.
Ever glorious and blessed Mary, Queen of virgins, Mother of mercy, hope and comfort of all dejected
and desolate souls, through that sword of sorrow, which pierced thy tender heart whilst thine only Son,
Christ Jesus, our Lord, suffered death and ignominy on the cross; through that filial tenderness and pure
love He had for thee, grieving in thy grief, whilst from His cross He recommended thee to the care and
protection of His disciple St John: take pity, I beseech thee, on my poverty and necessities; have
compassion on my anxieties and cares; assist and comfort me in all my infirmities and miseries, of what
kind soever.
Thou art the Mother of mercies, the sweet Consolatrix and only refuge of the needy and the orphan, of
the desolate and afflicted. Cast therefore an eye of pity on a miserable, forlorn child of Eve, and hear my
prayer. For since, in just punishment of my sins, I find myself encompassed by a multitude of evils, and
oppressed with much anguish of spirit, whither can I fly for more secure shelter, O Mother of my Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ, than under the wings of thy maternal protection. Attend then, I beseech thee,
with an ear of pity and compassion, to my most humble and earnest request. I ask it through the infinite
mercy of thy dear Son; through that love and condescension wherewith He embraced our nature, when
in compliance with thy divine will, thou gavest thy consent, and whom, after the expiration of nine
months, thou didst bring forth from the chaste enclosure of thy womb, to visit this world, and bless it
with His presence.
I ask it through that anguish of mind wherewith thy beloved Son, our dear Saviour, was overwhelmed
on Mount Olivet when He besought His eternal Father to remove from Him, if possible, the bitter
chalice of His future passion. I ask it through the threefold repetition of His prayers in the garden, from
whence afterwards, with dolorous steps and mournful tears, thou didst accompany Him to the doleful
theatre of His death and sufferings. I ask it through the weals and sores of His virginal flesh, occasioned
by the cords wherewith He was bound and by the whips wherewith He was scourged. I ask it through
the scoffs and ignominies by; which He was insulted; through the false accusations and unjust sentence
by which He was condemned to death, and which He bore with heavenly patience. I ask it through His
bitter tears and bloody sweat; through His silence and resignation, His sadness and grief of heart. I ask
it through the blood, which trickled from His sacred head when struck with a reed and pierced with the
crown of thorns. I ask it through the excruciation torments He suffered, when His hands and feet were
fastened with gross nails to the tree of the cross. I ask it through His vehement thirst, and the bitter
portion of vinegar and gall. I ask it through His dereliction on the cross, when He exclaimed; “My God,
my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” I ask it through His mercy extended to the good thief, and
through His recommending His precious soul and spirit into the hands of His eternal Father before He
expired, saying; “All is consummated”. I ask it through the blood mixed with water, which issued from
His sacred side when pierced with a lance, and whence a flood of grace and mercy has flowed to us.
I ask it through His immaculate life, his bitter passion, and ignominious death on the cross, at which
nature itself was thrown into convulsions, by the bursting of rocks, the rending of the veil of the temple,
the earthquake and the darkness of the sun and moon. I ask it through His descent into hell, where He
comforted the Saints of the old law with His presence, and led captivity captive. I ask it through His
glorious victory over death, when He arose again to life, and through the joy which His appearance for
forty days after gave thee, His blessed Mother, His Apostles and Disciples, and when in their presence,
He miraculously ascended into heaven. I ask it through the grace of the Holy Ghost, infused into the
hearts of His Disciples, when He descended upon them in the form of fiery tongues, and by which they
were inspired with zeal in the conversion of the world, when they went to preach the gospel.
I ask it through the awful appearance of thy Son at the last dreadful day, when He shall come to judge
the living and the dead. I ask it through the compassion He bore thee in this life, and the ineffable joy
thou didst feel at thine Assumption into heaven, where thou art eternally absorbed in the sweet
contemplation of His divine perfection. O glorious and ever blessed Virgin, comfort the heart of thy
supplicant, by obtaining for me........And as I am persuaded my divine Saviour doth honour thee as His
beloved Mother, to whom He refuses nothing, because thou askest nothing contrary to His honour, so
let me speedily experience the efficacy of thy powerful intercession, according to the tenderness of thy
maternal affection, and His filial loving heart, who mercifully granteth the request and complieth with the
desires of those that love and fear Him.
Wherefore, O most blessed Virgin, beside the object of my present petition, and whatever else I may
stand in need of, obtain for me also of thy dear Son, our Lord and our God, a lively faith, firm hope,
perfect charity, true contrition of heart, unfeigned tears of compunction, sincere confession, condign
satisfaction, abstinence from sin, love of God and my neighbour, contempt of the world, patience to
suffer affronts and ignominies, may even, if necessary, an opprobrious death itself, for love of thy Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ. Obtain likewise for me,
O sacred Mother of God, perseverance in all good works, per-formance of good resolutions,
mortification of self-will, a pious conversation through life, and, at my last moments, a strong and
sincere repentance, accompanied by such a lively, attentive presence of mind, as may enable me to
receive the last Sacraments of the Church worthily, and die in thy friendship and favour. Lastly, obtain
through thy Son, I beseech thee, for the souls of my parents, brethren, relatives and benefactors, both
living and dead, life everlasting from the only Giver of each good and perfect gift, the Lord God
almighty: to whom be all power, now and for ever.…Amen.

Prayer to Saint Joseph

Patron of the Universal Church
Most powerful patriarch St. Joseph, patron of the Universal Church, which has always invoked thee in
anxiety and trouble, from the exalted seat of thy glory cast a loving glance upon the whole Catholic
world. Let thy fatherly heart be touched at the sight of the mystical spouse and God's Vicar over-
whelmed with sorrow and persecuted by powerful enemies. Oh, by the bitter anguish thou didst
experience upon earth, dry the tears of the venerable Pontiff, defend him, liberate him, intercede for him
with the Giver of peace and charity, that, all adversity being removed, and all error dissipated, the entire
Church may serve God in perfect liberty. Amen.
Let us pray
Most glorious St. Joseph, virgin spouse of the Immaculate Mother of God, my loving patron, remember
that it has never been known that any one invoked thy help, or solicited thy patronage, without
obtaining relief. Encouraged by this assurance, I commend my soul and body, my temporal and eternal
interests to thy powerful protection. O thou, the adopted Father of the Eternal Son, despise not this
appeal, but listen to my prayer and plead for my requests. Amen.

A Prayer for Priests 1

Keep them, I pray Thee, dearest Lord,
Keep them, for they are Thine-
Thy priests whose lives burn out before,
Thy consecrated shrine.
Keep them - Thou knowest dearest Lord,
The world, the flesh are strong.
And Satan spreads a thousand snares,
To lead them into wrong.
Keep them, for they are in the world,
Though from the world apart;
When earthly pleasures tempt, allure-
Shelter them in Thy heart.
Keep them, and comfort them, in hours
Of loneliness and pain,
When all their life of sacrifice,
For souls seems but in vain.
Keep them, and O remember, Lord,
They have no one but Thee,
Yet they have only human hearts,
With human frailty.
Keep them as spotless as the Host,
That daily they caress.
Their every thought, and word, and deed,
Deign, dearest Lord, to bless.

Prayer for Priests 2

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep all Thy priests within the shelter of Thy Sacred Heart where none may
harm them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Thy Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips
purpled with Thy Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime marks of Thy glorious priesthood.
Let Thy holy love surround them and shield them from the world's contagion.
Bless their labours with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they minister here below be their joy
and consolation and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.

Prayer for Vocations

O Jesus through the love of Thy Adorable Heart and the intercession of Thy Virgin Mother Mary and
her most chaste spouse St. Joseph, I humbly beseech Thee to send many fervent and earnest labourers
into Thy vineyard, especially in this country where the need of priests, brothers and sisters is so great.
Remember Lord that the Harvest to be gathered in for eternity, is great, but the labours are few; and that
Thou hast told us to pray that labourers may be sent into the harvest. Therefore I humbly beseech Thee,
through the intercession of Mary and Joseph, to grant a great number of vocations to our land. Send
forth, O Lord, labourers into Thy harvest. O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many
holy priests. O Lord, grant into Thy Church saintly priests and fervent religious. Amen.
O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many holy priests. Amen.

Prayer for the Missions

(Pius XI)
O Lord Jesus, Whom didst shed Thy precious Blood for the redemption of the world, look with pity on
the human race that once again is plunged in the darkness of error, and in the shadow of death. May the
splendour of Thy truth shine forth as the light of the world. Multiply, O Lord, Thy missionaries; increase
their zeal, render their work more fruitful, and give them the grace to bring unbelievers to faith in Thee,
their Creator and their Redeemer. Bring back to the fold the erring sheep, recall rebellious sons to Thy
One Holy Church. Hasten O loving Saviour, the arrival of Thy Kingdom on earth. Draw all men to Thy
Sacred Heart, that all may share in the ineffable wonders of Thy redemption in the everlasting happiness
of Heaven. Amen.

ADVENT
May we offer humble hearts, as mangers, to receive our Infant Lord this Christmas; and may His Blessed
Mother prepare us for this holy event.

CHRISTMAS
Prayer Before the Crib
I adore Thee, O Word Incarnate, true Son of God from all eternity, and true son of Mary ever Virgin in
the fullness of time. When I adore Thy Divine Person and the Humanity united to Thy Divinity, I
venerate the poor manger which welcomed Thee when an Infant, and which was truly the Throne of Thy
Love. I prostrate myself before it with the simplicity of the shepherds, with the faith of Joseph, with the
love of Mary I bow down before this precious memorial of our salvation with the same spirit of
mortification, poverty and humility with which Thou, the Lord of heaven and earth, didst choose a
manger wherein to lay Thy tender Infant Limbs, and Thou, O Lord, Who in Thine Infancy didst deign to
lay Thyself in a manger; vouchsafe also to pour into my heart a drop of that joy to which the sight of
Thy lovely Childhood and the miracles that accompanied Thy Birth, gave rise. By that holy Birth, I now
implore Thee to grant all the world peace and good-will, and in the name of the whole human race I
render thanks and honour to God the Father and to God the Holy Ghost, Who with Thee liveth and
reigneth one God world without end. Amen.

sufferer's eternal interests. In the case of those seeking cures of bodily ailments, it would be advisable to
apply the Lourdes water to the part affected or to sip a few drops of it.

PRAYER AGAINST SATAN and THE REBELLIOUS ANGELS

Published by Order of H.H. Pope Leo XIII
The Holy Father exhorts priests to say this prayer as often as possible, as a simple exorcism to curb the power of the devil and prevent
him from doing harm. The faithful also may say it in their own name, for the same purpose, as any approved prayer. Its use is
recommended whenever action of the devil is suspected, causing malice in men, violent temptations and even storms and various
calamities. It could be used as a solemn exorcism (an official and public ceremony, in Latin), to expel the devil. It would then be said
by a priest, in the name of the Church and only with the Bishop's permission.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
Most glorious prince of the Heavenly Armies, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in our battle
against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the spirits of
wickedness in the high places". (Ephes., VI, 12). Come to the assistance of men whom God has created
to His likeness and whom He has redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Holy Church
venerates thee as her guardian and protector; to thee, the Lord has entrusted the souls of the redeemed
to be led into heaven. Pray therefore the God of Peace to crush Satan beneath our feet, that he may no
longer retain men captive and do injury to the Church. Offer our prayers to the Most High, that without
delay they may draw His mercy down upon us; take hold of "the dragon, the old serpent, which is the
devil and Satan", bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit "so that he may no longer seduce the
nations" (Apoc. XX, 2.)
EXORCISM
In the Name of Jesus Christ, our God and Lord, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate
Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul
and all the Saints, (and powerful in the holy authority of our ministry), we confidently undertake to
repulse the attacks and deceits of the devil.
PSALM 67: God arises; His enemies are scattered and those who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is
driven away, so are they driven; as wax melts before the fire, so the wicked perish at the presence of
God.
V. Behold the Cross of the Lord, flee bands of enemies.
R. He has conquered, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the offspring of David.
V May thy mercy, Lord, decend upon us.
R. As great as our hope in Thee.
The crosses indicate a blessing to be given if a priest recites the Exorcism; if a lay person
recites it, they indicate the Sign of the Cross to be made silently by that person.

We drive you from us, whoever you may be, unclean spirits, all satanic powers, all infernal invaders, all
wicked legions, assemblies and sects; in the Name and by the power of Our Lord Jesus Christ, ς may
you be snatched away and driven from the Church of God and from the souls made to the image and
likeness of God and redeemed by the Precious Blood of the Divine Lamb. ς Most cunning serpent, you
shall no more dare to deceive the human race, persecute the Church, torment God's elect and sift them
as wheat. ς The Most High God commands you. ς He with whom, in your great insolence, you still
claim to be equal; "He who wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (I
Tim., II, 4). God the Father commands you. ς God the Son commands you. ς God the Holy Ghost
commands you. ς Christ, God's Word made flesh, commands you; ς He who to save our race outdone
through your envy, "humbled Himself, becoming obedient even unto death" (Phil., 11, 8); He who has
built His Church on the firm rock and declared that the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her,
because he will dwell with Her "all days even to the end of the world" (St. Mat., XXVIII, 20). The
sacred Sign of the Cross commands you, ς as does also the power of the mysteries of the Christian
Faith. ς The glorious Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, commands you; ς She who by her humility and
from the first moment of her Immaculate Conception, crushed your proud head. The faith of the Holy
Apostles Peter and Paul and of the other Apostles commands you. ς The blood of the Martyrs and the
pious intercession of all the Saints command you. ς

Thus, cursed dragon, and you, diabolical legions, we adjure you by the living God, ς by the true God, ς
by the holy God, ς by the God "who so loved the world that He gave up His only Son, that every soul
believing in Him might not perish but have life everlasting" (St. John, III); stop deceiving human
creatures and pouring out to them the poison of eternal damnation; stop harming the Church and
hindering her liberty. Begone, Satan, inventor and master of all deceit, enemy of man's salvation. Give
place to Christ in whom you have found none of your works; give place to the One, Holy, Catholic and
Apostolic Church acquired by Christ at the price of His Blood. Stoop beneath the all-powerful Hand of
God; tremble and flee when we invoke the Holy and terrible Name of Jesus, this Name which causes hell
to tremble, this Name to which the Virtues, Powers and Dominations of heaven are humbly submissive,
this Name which the Cherubim and Seraphim praise unceasingly repeating: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord,
the God of Armies.
V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
V. May the Lord be with thee.
R. And with thy spirit.
Let us pray.
God of heaven, God of earth, God of Angels, God of Archangels, God of Patriarchs, God of Prophets, God of Apostles,
God of Martyrs, God of Confessors, God of Virgins, God who has power to give life after death and rest after work,
because there is no other God than Thee and there can be no other, for Thou art the Creator of all things, visible and
invisible, of whose reign there shall be no end, we humbly prostrate ourselves before Thy glorious Majesty and we beseech
Thee to deliver us by Thy power from all the tyranny of the infernal spirits, from their snares, their lies and their furious
wickedness; deign, O Lord, to grant us Thy powerful protection and to keep us safe and sound. We beseech Thee through
Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
V. From the snares of the devil,
R. Deliver us O Lord.
V. That Thy Church may serve Thee in peace and liberty,
R. We beseech Thee to hear us.
V. That Thou may crush down all enemies of Thy Church,
R. We beseech Thee to hear us.
(Holy water is sprinkled in the place where we may be).

NOVENA TO SAINT MICHAEL AND TO THE NINE CHOIRS OF ANGELS

Each day say one Our Father then one of the following prayers
First day

In honour of Seraphim
Most glorious Prince of the heavenly army, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the fight against
princes and powers, rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits who permeate all spaces.
Come to the aid of mankind, whom God made to the image of His Own nature, and whom He dearly
bought back from the tyranny of the devil1. Amen.
Second day

In honour of Cherubim
St. Michael, Prince of the Army of angels, I call upon thee to grant my prayer. I beg Thee to take my
soul on the last day, under thy saintly protection and to lead it to the place of peace and rest where the
holy souls await in ineffable joy, the last judgement and the glory of the glorious resurrection. When I
speak or be silent, when I watch over, when I walk or rest, keep me in the pursuit of the fulfilment of all
my works, in all my doings throughout my life. Protect me from the temptations of the devil and the
pains of hell2. Amen.

Third day
In honour of Thrones
Great defender of Christian peoples, St. Michael the Archangel, to fulfil fittingly the mission that has
been assigned to thee to defend the Church, weed out heresies, wipe out schisms and overcome unbelief.
Multiply thy victories over infernal monsters who are determined to destroy our faith. May the Church
of Jesus Christ welcome new faithful and incorporate entire kingdoms so that she can people heaven
with elect souls, for the greater glory of the Divine Redeemer, to Whom thou owest thy triumphs, thy
merits, and thy eternal bliss3. Amen.
Fourth day
In honour of Dominations
Oh thou prince and standard bearer of the good angels, help me always in thy bounty, and save me.
From the legions of the angels of darkness preserve me, so that, under thy guidance, I can share the light
of the good angels. Before the throne of the Supreme Judge, be my advocate, plead my cause and quell
the anger of the Divine Justice. So that, through thee, my work, my rest, my days, and my nights be
given merit; that my thoughts may always be ready for the works of God4. Amen.

Fifth day
In honour of Powers
St. Michael the Archangel whom Holy Church venerates as her guardian and protector, to thee Our
Lord gave the honour of introducing redeemed souls into heavenly happiness. Pray that the God of
Peace will crush Satan under our feet, so that he can no longer retain men in his chains nor harass the
Church. Present to the Most High our prayers so that, without delay, the Lord will accord us mercy.
Thou Thyself seize the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and throw him bound into
the abyss, so that he will no longer lead nations into damnation5. Amen.

Sixth day
In honour of Virtues
St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle so that we will not perish on the day of dreadful
judgement. Glorious Prince, remember us and pray for us to the Son of God, everywhere and always.
When thou didst fight the dragon, we heard in heaven the voice of those who proclaimed, "Hail, honour
and glory to Almighty God!" The seas rose, the earth trembled, when thou camest down from heaven,
come to the aid of the people of God6. Amen.

Seventh day
In honour of Principalities
Oh, St. Michael, thrice holy Prince of the sacred army, charged by God to organise and lead angelic
columns, worthy of honour, of all praise, and of all esteem: clarify my inner thoughts; fortify my poor
heart, disturbed by the storms of this life, raise to the heights of celestial wisdom my mind so inclined
towards things of this world; guide my errant steps, do not allow me to wander from the path that leads
to heaven; heal the wounds of my soul; wipe out all traces of sufferings inflicted in me by my miseries
and my sorrows7. Amen.

Eighth day
In honour of Archangels
St. Michael Archangel, who is charged to gather our prayers, to lead our battles, and to weigh our souls,
I pay homage to thy beauty, to thy limitless power in favour of those who are devoted to thy will,
harmoniously united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the good of
mankind. Defend me against the enemies of my soul and of my body. Make me aware of the comfort of
thy invisible assistance and the effects of thy tender vigilance8. Amen.

Ninth day
In honour of Angels
Glorious St. Michael Archangel, great champion of the glory of God and protector of the universal
church, thou to whom the Almighty has given the mission of receiving the souls when they leave the
body, to present them to All-Just Judge; deign to protect me in my last battle. Accompanied by my
guardian angel, come to my aid, and drive away from me all evil spirits. Do not allow them to terrify me.
Strengthen me in my faith, hope and charity so that my soul, carried by thee to her Judge, may
immediately rest in peace, to reign eternally with her Redeemer, in the society of the blessed Spirits.
Amen.

N.B. Any novena to the Angels carries one plenary indulgence when the other ordinary conditions are
fulfilled on a particular day of the novena, or during the following eight days. (Pius IX, 26 Nov. 1876)

weakness, and as an incentive to the practice of that meekness, humility, and innocence which Thou
taught us. I offer myself to Thee as an entire oblation, and in memory of that Sacrifice of Love which
Thou didst offer for me on the cross, and in satisfaction for my sins. Accept this oblation, I beseech

Act of Faith
O my God! I firmly believe that Thou art one God in three Divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Ghost;

living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths that the Catholic Church teaches, because Thou
hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.

help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
Amen.

Act of Charity
O my God! I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art All Good and
deserving of all love. I love my neighbour as my self for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured
me, and I ask pardon of all I have injured. Amen.

Act of Charity
Alphonsus Rodrigues S.J.
Lord take me off straight away before I offend Thee, because if my life is not to be of Thy service I
would have it no longer. Amen.

Prayer of St. Nicholas de Fluë

My Lord and my God,
Take every thing from me
That keeps me from Thee.

My Lord and my God,

Give everything to me
That brings me nearer to Thee.

My Lord and my God,

Take me away from myself
And give me completely to Thee.

Prayer for Daily Strength

Jesus, King and Supreme Lord, give me strength so that I may love Thee not only for myself, but also in
addition I may love Thee on behalf of all those, who love Thee too little.
Jesus, King and Supreme Lord, give me strength so that I may serve Thee in sincerity not only on behalf
of myself, but also I may be truly devoted to Thee on behalf of all those who have become perfidious to
Thee.
Jesus, King and Supreme Lord, give me strength so that I may willingly follow Thee, carrying my cross
and may do so not only on behalf of myself, but also on behalf of all those who have thrown away their
crosses. Amen.

Prayer for Grace

O my God and my all, in Thy goodness and Thy mercy, grant that before I die I may regain all the graces
that I have lost through my carelessness and folly.
Permit me to attain that degree of merit and perfection to which Thou didst desire to lead me, and which
I didst fail by my unfaithfulness to reach.
Mercifully grant also that others regain the graces that they have lost through my fault.
This I humbly beg through the merits of The Sacred Hearts of Jesus and The Immaculate Virgin Mary.
Amen.

Prayer of Saint Albert the Great

Lord Jesus Christ, listen to my voice rising to Thee from the bleak valley of repentance. I beseech Thee
that I may not be lead astray by the temptations of empty words that speak of family pride, of the
prestige of my order, of the pleasures of knowledge. Amen.
Prayer for Patience and Meekness
O my Jesus as Thou didst with patience and meekness carry, and, die on Thy Cross for the love of me:
give me the graces to carry my crosses, patiently and meekly this day, as a token of my love for Thee.
Amen.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek:
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born into eternal life. Amen

Prayer to the Shoulder Wound of Christ

O Loving Jesus, meek Lamb of God, I miserable sinner, salute and worship the Most Sacred Wound of
Thy Shoulder on which Thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross, which so tore Thy flesh and lay bear Thy
bones as to inflect on Thee an anguish greater than any other wound of Thy Most Blessed Body. I adore
Thee, O Jesus Most Sorrowful: I praise and glorify Thee, and give Thee thanks for this most sacred and
painful Wound, beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain, and by the crushing burden of Thy heavy Cross
be merciful to me, a sinner, to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins, and to lead me on towards
Heaven along the way of Thy Cross. Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Face of Jesus.

Jesus, Who in Thy bitter passion didst become "the reproach of man and the man of sorrows", I venerate
Thy Most Holy Face on which shone the beauty and gentleness of divinity. In those disfigured features I
recognise Thine infinite love, and I long to love Thee and to make Thee loved. May I behold Thy
Glorious face in heaven. Amen.

Prayer of Saint Thomas More

Give me Thy grace, Good Lord,
To set the world at nought,
To set my mind fast upon Thee,
And not to hang upon the blast of men's mouths.
To be content to be solitary,
Not to long for worldly company.
Little by little utterly to cast off the world,
And rid my mind of all the business thereof.
Not to long to hear of worldly things,
But that the hearing of worldly fantasies may be to me displeasing;
Gladly to be thinking of God;
Piteously to call for His help;
To lean unto the comfort of God,
Busily to labour to love him.
To know my own vileness and wretchedness;
To humble and abase myself under the mighty hand of God;
To bewail my past sins;
For the purging of them patiently to suffer adversity;
Gladly to bear my purgatory here;
To be joyful in tribulations;
To walk the narrow way that leadeth to life;
To bear the cross with Christ;
To have the last things in remembrance;
To have ever before mine eye my death that is ever at hand;
To make death no stranger to me;
To foresee and consider the everlasting fires of hell;
To pray for pardon before the Judge do come;
To have continually in mind the passion Christ suffered for me;
For His benefits incessantly to give Him thanks;
To buy the time again that I before have lost.
To abstain from vain conversations;
To eschew light foolish mirth and gladness;
Recreations not necessary to cut off;
To set the loss of worldly substance, friends, liberty, life all at right nought for the winning of Christ;
To think my worst enemies my best friends,
For the brethren of Joseph could never have done him so much good with their love and favour as they
did with their malice and hatred.
These wishes are more to be desired by every man than all the treasure of all the princes and kings,
Christian and heathen, were it gathered and laid together all upon one heap.

Learning Christ
Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life; in disappointments, in the
thoughtlessness of others, in the insincerity of those I have trusted, in the faithfulness of those on whom
I relied. Let me put myself aside, to think of the happiness of others, to hide my little pains and
heartaches, so that I may be the only ones to suffer from them.
Teach me to profit from the suffering that comes across my path. Let me use it that it may mellow me,
not harden nor embitter me; that it may make me patient, not irritable; that it may make me broad in my
forgiveness, not narrow, haughty and overbearing. May no one be less good for having come within my
influence; no one less pure, less true, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow-traveller in our
journey towards Eternal Life.
As I go my rounds from one distraction to another, let me whisper from time to time, a word of love to
Thee. May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power for good, and strong in its purpose of
sanctity. Amen.

Prayer of Reparation
My Jesus, I adore Thee and love Thee with all my heart and all the hearts of my brothers and sisters of
the whole world.
I form in spirit, around Thee a great assembly of their hearts, and I love Thee with them.
I thank Thee, for myself, my family, and my brothers and my sisters of the whole world.
I ask Thy forgiveness, for myself my family, and brothers and sisters of the whole world.
I offer Thee all my sufferings, past, present and future, of my family, brothers and sisters of the whole
world; in union of the sorrows of the Sweet Virgin Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother and, our Mother, as
well as those of Thy Most Cruel Passion.
I form a spray of sufferings, that I offer Thee, O my Most Sweet Jesus, in reparations of all outrages,
sacrileges, blasphemies, indifference's and all the offences that Thou receivest at this moment.
Wilt Thou please offer this spray of sufferings to our Good Father, Who is in heaven, to appease His
anger, so justly aroused by our countless sins. Amen

their bold attacks, and drive them hence into the abyss of woe.

mind with thy wisdom, increase me in faith, hope and charity. Adorn my soul with such graces and
virtues as will be pleasing to thy Divine Son and to thee. Assist me in life and consol me in death with
thy most amiable presence, and present me to The Most August Trinity as thy devoted servant and child,
that I may eternally bless thee in Paradise. Amen

Prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel

Genazzano
O Holy Virgin, to whose feet we are led by our anxious uncertainty in our search for and attainment of
what is true and good, invoking thee by the sweet title of Mother of Good Counsel. We beseech thee to
come to our assistance, when along the road of this life, the darkness of error and of evil conspires
towards our ruin by leading our minds and our hearts astray.
Do Thou O Seat of Wisdom and Star of the Sea, enlighten the doubtful and the erring, that they may not
be seduced by the false appearances of good; render them steadfast in the face of hostile and corrupting
influences of passion and sin.
O Mother of Good Counsel, obtain for us from thy Divine Son a great love of virtue, and, in the hour of
uncertainty and trial, the strength to embrace the way which leads to our salvation. If thy hand sustains
us, we shall walk unmolested along the path indicated to us by the life and words of Jesus our redeemer;
and having followed freely and securely, even in the midst of this world's strife, the Sun of Truth and
Justice, under Thy maternal star, we shall come to the enjoyment of full and eternal peace with thee in
the haven of salvation. Amen.
Our Lady of Good Counsel
O Virgin Mother, Lady of Good Counsel
Sweetest picture artists ever drew.
In all my doubts I fly to Thee for guidance,
Mother, tell me what am I to do?

Life alas, is often dark and dreary

Cheating shadows hide the truth from view.
When my soul is most perplexed and weary
Mother tell me what am I to do?

Be of all my friends the best and dearest,

Of my counsellor sincere and true
Let Thy voice sound always first and clearest
Mother, tell me what am I to do?

By Thy face to Jesus face inclining

Sheltered safely in Thy mantle blue.
While His little arms around Thee twining,
Mother, tell me what am I to do?
Invocation for a Holy Death.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I give You my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, may I breathe forth my soul in peace with You. Amen.

Prayer to The Holy Family.

O Jesus, our most loving Redeemer, Who didst come into the world to enlighten it by Thy teaching and
by Thy example, and Who didst will to pass the greater part of Thy mortal life in the poor cottage of
Nazareth, in humble subjection to Mary and Joseph, thus sanctifying that Family which was to be the
model of all Christian families; graciously receive this family which dedicates and consecrates itself to
Thee this day.
Do Thou protect us, do Thou watch over us. Do Thou bestow upon us thy holy fear, peace, concord,
and Christian love; that so, by the imitation of Thy Family as our patten and model, we may each and all
obtain everlasting happiness.
O Mary, loving Mother of Jesus, and our Mother, by thy gracious intercession make this humble
dedication acceptable to Jesus, and obtain for us His graces and blessings.
St. Joseph, holy guardian of Jesus and Mary, assist us by thy prayers in all our spiritual and temporal
necessities; so that, with Mary and with thee, we may for all eternity bless and thank our Divine
Redeemer.
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory. (Thrice)

Prayer to Saint Stephen.

O St. Stephen! patron of my soul please help me by thy most wonderful example to give my life to God.
O St. Stephen, first martyr of the faith, inspire me by your courage and perseverance to strive to
perfection for the glory of God and for the salvation of my soul.
Help me always to do God's will so that in my way I may become a martyr like thee. Please St. Stephen,
intercede for me in heaven so that God may have mercy on me, and bring me and many souls unto
salvation. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Paul.

Saul arose from the ground: and when his eyes were opened he could see nothing; so they lead him by
the hand and brought him to Damascus. And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate or
drank.
But Saul increased all the more in strength and confronted the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving
that Jesus was the Christ.
Holy Apostle Paul, preacher of truth and doctor of the gentiles, intercede for us with God who chose
thee. Amen.

Prayer to The Little Flower Saint Theresa

O St. Therese of the Child Jesus, who during thy short life on earth became a mirror of angelic purity, a
love as strong as death, and a whole-hearted abandonment to God, now that thou rejoicest in the reward
of thy virtues, cast a glance of pity on me as I leave all things in thy hands. Make my petition thine own
— speak a word for me to our Lady Immaculate, Whose flower of special love thou wert — to that
Queen of Heaven; "who smiled upon thee at the dawn of life". Beg her as Queen of the Heart of Jesus to
obtain for me by her powerful intercession, the grace I yearn so ardently for at this moment, and that she
join with it a blessing that may strengthen me during life, defend me at the hour of death, and lead me
straight on to a happy eternity. Amen.
V. Pray for us St. Therese.
R. That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray

O Lord! Who hast said, "unless ye become as little children, ye shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven,"
grant us, we beseech Thee, so to follow in the footsteps of the virgin, St. Therese, in humility and
simplicity of heart, that we may attain to our eternal reward. Who livest and reignest, with God the
Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.

A Prayer to our Guardian Angel.

Hail, happy Angel! my faithful and charitable Guide and Guardian! Receive, I beseech thee, my fervent
grateful thanks for all thy goodness, for all the favour thou hast obtained for me, for the vigilant care
that has so often preserved me from danger, for the patient charity which has so long borne with my
forgetfulness and ingratitude. Assist me I beseech thee, to raise my heart and desires to God, for Whom
I alone was created. Obtain for me the grace to know Him, to love Him, to serve Him faithfully, to
observe His commandments punctually, and like thee, ever to walk in His Divine presence. Preserve me
by thy prayers from the dreadful misfortune of mortal sin, and impress me with a lively horror of the
least deliberate fault. Do not abandon me at the hour of death, when I so peculiarly need thine aid;
console me then, protect me, present my soul at the tribunal of Jesus Christ, and do not resign the
charge, until thou hast securely placed it in the kingdom of everlasting glory. Amen

ON ENTERING A CHURCH with the Blessed Sacrament present

My Lord and my God, I believe that Thou art here present, and that Thy eyes are fixed on me. I adore
Thee and acknowledge I am unworthy to appear before Thee; but full of confidence in Thy infinite
goodness, I beg Thee to give me the grace to pass this time for Thy glory and for my spiritual
advancement. Enlighten my understanding, touch my heart, strengthen my will, dispel my distractions;
so that I may know Thee better, love Thee more and serve Thee faithfully. I implore this grace by the
intercession of Our Lady, my holy patrons and guardian angel. Amen.

Prayer of St. Ephrem of Edessa

Most Holy Lady, Mother of God, uniquely pure in soul and body, Lady full of grace and of the Holy
Ghost: look upon me sinful as I am, strained in body and soul. Direct my straying thoughts which
wounder in darkness, rule and govern my feelings, deliver me from the bondage of my sins; so that
having cast off the dark chains of evil, I may worthily glorify thee. Amen.

Visit To The Most Blessed Sacrament.

Preparation at the Beginning of Each Visit
Prayer to overcome the Habit of Sin
All ye Saints in heaven who, for a time here on earth, were under the power of the habit of sin; thy
victory over vice encourages me. By prayer, the Sacraments and self control, ye at last mastered thy
passions.
Grant, O! Lord, that, encouraged by their example, I may (by prayer, Confession, Holy Communion and
the practice of self control) soon master these passions, these habits of ... of mine that have been the
cause of so many sins of my past life.

Amen.

To be said at every visit

My Lord Jesus Christ, Who, for the love which Thou bearest to men, remainest night and day in this
Sacrament full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling, and welcoming all who come to visit Thee. I
believe that Thou art present in the Sacrament of the Altar. I Adore Thee from the abyss of my
nothingness, and I thank Thee for all the graces which Thou hast bestowed upon me, and in particular
for having given me Thyself in this Sacrament, for having given me Thy most Holy Mother Mary for my
advocate, and for having called me to visit Thee in this church. I now salute Thy most loving Heart: and
this for three ends:
1. In thanks giving for this great gift;
2. To make amends to Thee for all the outrages which Thou receivest in this Sacrament from all Thine
enemies;
3. I intend by this visit to adore Thee in all the places on earth in which Thou art present in this
Sacrament, and in which Thou art the least revered and the most abandoned.
My Jesus I love Thee with my whole heart. I grieve for having hitherto so many times offended Thy
infinite goodness. I purpose by Thy grace never more to offend Thee for the time to come; and now,
miserable and as unworthy though I be, I consecrate myself to Thee without reserve; I give Thee and
renounce my entire will, my affections, my desires, and all I possess. From henceforward do Thou
dispose of me and all that I have as Thou pleasest. All that I ask of Thee and desire is Thy holy love,
final perseverance, and the perfect accomplishment of Thy will. I recommend to Thee the souls in
purgatory; but especially those who had the greatest devotion to the Most Blessed Sacrament and to the
Most Blessed Virgin Mary. I recommend to Thee all poor sinners. In fine, my dear Saviour, I unite all my
affections with the affections of Thy most loving Heart; and I offer Them, thus united, to Thy Eternal
Father, and beseech Him in Thy name to vouchsafe, for Thy love, to accept and grant them. Amen.
Make a short meditation if possible.

Prayer of Father Olier.

O Jesus! Who didst live in Mary, come and live in Thy servants, in the Spirit of Thy Own Holiness, in
the Fullness of Thy Power, in the reality of Thy Virtues, in the Communion of Thy Mysteries, have
dominion over every adverse power in Thy Spirit, to the glory of the Father. Amen.

Spiritual Communion*.
O my Jesus! I turn towards the Holy:-
-Tabernacle where Thou liest hidden-
-Monstrance where Thy sittest enthroned-
for the love of me. I can not receive Thee in Holy Communion at this moment. Come nevertheless into
my heart, sanctify it, purify it, render it like unto Thy Own.
Lord, I am not worth for Thee to come into my heart. Say but the word and my soul shall be healed.

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus! hear me;
Within Thy wounds hide me;
Never permit me to be separated from Thee;
At the hour of death, call me;
And bid me to come to Thee;
And with Thy saints, I may praise Thee;
For ever and ever. Amen.

O Jesus, may my heart and all the hearts of the world burn for the love of Thee. Amen.

I love Thee, Jesus, my love above all things. I am sorry for having offended Thee. Never permit me to
offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee, always, and then do with me what Thy wilt. Amen.

Visit to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To be said at every visit
Most holy Immaculate Virgin and my Mother Mary, to thee who art the Mother of my Lord, the Queen
of the world, the advocate, the hope the refuge of sinners, I have recourse today, I, who am the most
miserable of all. I render thee my most humble homage, O great Queen, and I thank thee for all the
graces thou hast conferred on me until now, particularly for having delivered me from hell, which I have
so often deserved. I love thee, O most amiable Lady; and for the love that I bear thee, I promise to serve
thee always, and to do all in my power to make others love thee also. I place in thee all my hopes; I
confide my salvation to thy care. Accept me for thy servant, and receive me under thy mantle, O Mother
of Mercy. And since thou art so powerful with God, deliver me from all temptations, or rather obtain for
me the strength to triumph over them until death. Of thee I ask a perfect love of Jesus Christ. From thee
I hope to die a good death. O my Mother, by the love that thou bearest to God, I beseech thee to help
me at all times, but especially at the last moment of my life. Leave me not I beseech thee, until thou seest
me safe in heaven, blessing thee, and singing thy mercies for all eternity.
Amen. So I hope. So may it be.

Indue me, Domine, novum hominem, qui secundum Deum creatus est in justitia et sanctitate veritatis
Clothe me O Lord with the New Man , who was created according to God, in justice and the sanctity of
truth. (Ephesians 4:24)

MASS INTENTIONS

Priest, and those present.

Antiphon. Remember not, O Lord, our offences or those of our fathers; and take not vengeance for our
sins. (P.T. Alleluia.)
Kýrie eléison.
Christe eléison.
Kýrie eléison.
Our Father...
And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil. Amen.
I said: Lord, have mercy upon me.
Heal my soul, for I have sinned against Thee.
Turn Thou a little towards us, O Lord,
And be entreated for Thy servants.
Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
As We have hoped in Thee.
Let Thy priests be clothed with righteous,
And let Thy servants rejoice.
From my secret sins cleanse me, O Lord,
And spare Thy servants from those of others.
Lord, hear my prayer,
And let my cry come unto Thee.
Let us pray
Most gracious God, listen in Thy loving kindness to our prayers and enlighten our hearts with the grace
of the Holy Ghost so that we may worthily celebrate Thy mysteries and love Thee with an everlasting
love.

O God, to whom every heart is open, ever desire is known and from Whom no secrets are hidden
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy Holy Ghost so that we may perfectly love
Thee and worthily praise Thy holy name.
Turn our, desires and hearts, Lord, with the fire of the Holy Ghost, so that we may serve Thee with a
chaste body and please Thee with a clean heart.

We pray Thee, Lord, that the Comforter Who proceeds from Thee may enlighten our minds and lead us
into all truth, as Thy Son has promised.

We pray Thee, Lord, that the strength of the Holy Ghost may be with us mercifully cleansing our hearts
and defending them from all harm.

O God, Thou taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Ghost; grant that in the same Spirit
we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Cleanse our hearts, we pray Thee, Lord, by Thy coming, so that our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, may
find within us a dwelling prepared for Him: who being God lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the
Holy Ghost, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of St. Ambrose

O loving Lord Jesus Christ, I, a sinner, not presuming on my own merits, but trusting in Thy mercy and
goodness, with fear and awe approach the table of Thy most sacred banquet. For I have stained both my
heart and body with many sins, and have not kept a strict guard over my mind and tongue. Wherefore, O
gracious God, O awful majesty, I, a wretched creature, entangled in difficulties, have recourse to Thee,
the fount of mercy; to Thee I fly for healing and take refuge under Thy protection, and I ardently desire
to have Him as my Saviour whom I am unable to face as my judge. To Thee, Lord, I show my wounds,
to Thee I lay bare my shame. I know that my sins are many and great and on their account I am filled
with fear. But I trust that Thy mercy, which is endless. Look down on me, therefore, with the eyes of
Mercy, Lord Jesus Christ, eternal King, God and Man, crucified for men. Hear me, for my hope is in
Thee; have mercy on me, for I am full of sin and wretchedness, Thou who never cease to let flow the
fountain of mercy. Hail, Victim of salvation, offered for me and for all mankind on the tree of the cross.
Hail, noble and precious Blood, flowing from the wounds of my crucified Lord Jesus Christ and washing
away the sins of the whole world. Remember, Lord, Thy creature, who, Thou hast redeemed with Thy
Blood. I am grieved because I have sinned, I desire to make amends for what I have done. Take away
from me, therefore, O most merciful Father, all iniquities and sins, that, being purified both in soul and
body, I may worthily partake of the Holy of Holies; and grant that this holy oblation of Thy Body and
Blood, of which though unworthy I partake may be to me the remission of my sins, the perfect cleansing
of my offences the means of driving away all evil thoughts and of renewing all holy desires, the
accomplishment of works pleasing to Thee, as well as a strong defence of soul and body against the
snares of my enemies. Amen.

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

Almighty and eternal God, behold, I approach the Sacrament of Thy only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus
Christ. I approach as one who is sick to the Physician of life, as one unclean to the fountain of mercy, as
one blind to the light of eternal brightness, as one poor and needy to the Lord of heaven and earth.
Therefore, I pray Thee, O Infinite Goodness, to heal my sickness, to wash away my filth, to enlighten
my blindness, to enrich my poverty, and to clothe my nakedness, that I may receive the Bread of angels,
the King of kings and the Lord of lords with such reverence and humility, with such contrition and
devotion, with such purity and faith, with such purpose and intention, as may conduce to the salvation of
my soul. Grant, I pray Thee, that I may receive not only the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Our
Lord; but also the fruit and virtue of this Sacrament. O most indulgent God, grant me so to receive the
Body of Thine only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, which He took of the Virgin Mary, that I may
be found worthy to be incorporated with His mystical Body and numbered among His members. O most
loving Father, grant that I may one day contemplate for ever, face to face, Thy beloved Son, Whom now
on my pilgrimage I am about to receive under the sacramental veils. Amen.

Acts of Faith.
O my God, I firmly believe that by the words of consecration spoken during Mass, bread truly, becomes
the Body of Christ and wine the most Precious Blood, and that Thy Divine Son is offered to Thee upon
the altar under appearances resembling that separation of His Body and Blood which took place on
Calvary. Therefore, do I believe with my whole heart that this holy Victim is the same as that of the
Cross, whom I am about to receive in order to unite my sacrifices to His own, by immolating myself
with Him for Thy glory. Amen.

My God, I believe that I shall receive the Sacred Body and the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. I believe
this with all my heart. Amen.

Act of Hope.
O my God, I place all my hope in Jesus, my loving Saviour, truly present before me on the altar. He,
who on the cross offered to Thee the super-abundant merits of His divine Blood, shed for our sins. Do
Thou graciously except the offering, which I now make to Thee at the hands of Thou priests, of the
Holy victim who has reconciled us to Thee, and being fully appeased by Him, grant to my soul the
graces it needs in order to receive my Lord worthily and obtain through Him all the effects of Thy
fatherly goodness. Amen.

Act of Humility
My God, I confess that I am a poor sinner; I am not worthy on account of my sins, to receive the Body
and Blood of Jesus; Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof; say but the word,
and my soul shall be healed. Amen.

Acts of Contrition.
O my God, at the moment of receiving within myself the divine Victim of Calvary, I confess sincerely
before Thy infinite majesty and before the whole court of heaven that I have offended Thee by thought,
word and deed. By my sins I have contributed to the death of Jesus on the cross; but Thou have forgiven
me, washing my soul in the Blood of Thy Son and clothing it with the wedding garment of Thy grace. I
come, therefore, contrite and repentant, but with a heart overflowing with boundless gratitude, to the
holy table which Thou hast prepared for the prodigal child, who had abandoned Thee, and whom in Thy
goodness Thou would nourish with heavenly bread. Amen.

My God, I detest all the sins of my life. I am sorry for them because they have offended Thee, my God,
Who art so good. I resolve never to commit sin again. My good God, pity me, have mercy on me,
forgive me. Amen.

Acts of Love and Desire.

O my God, I love Thee with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength and with no other desire
than to be inseparably united to Thee. It is through Thy divine Son that this union is about to be realized
within me. In Holy Communion I long to identify myself with Him, that it will no longer be myself but
Him, who lives in me; and when I receive Jesus within myself, then I shall love and be loved by Thee in
that same measure in which I am united to Him. Hasten then, to give me Thy divine Son, at the hands of
Thy priest, that through Jesus, I may unite myself forever to Thee, O God the Father, in the unity of the
Holy Ghost. Amen.
Sweet Jesus, I love Thee. I desire with all my heart to receive Thee. Most sweet Jesus come into my
poor soul and give me Thy flesh to eat and thy Blood to drink. Give me Thy Self: Body, Blood, Soul
and Divinity, that I may live for ever with Thee. Amen.

Adoro Te
1
O Godhead hid, devoutly I adore Thee,
Who truly art within the forms before me;
To Thee my heart I bow with bended knee,
As failing quite in contemplating Thee
2
Sight, touch, and taste in Thee are each deceived;
The ear alone most safely is believed.
I believe all the Son of God has spoken:
Than Truth’s own word there is no truer token.
3
God only on the Cross lay hid from view,
But here lies hid at once the manhood too:
And I, in both professing my belief,
Make the same prayer as the repentant thief.
4
Thy wounds as Thomas saw, I do not see;
Yet Thee confess my Lord and God to be.
Make me believe Thee ever more and more,
In Thee my hope, in Thee my love to store.
5
O Thou, memorial of our Lord’s own dying!
O living bread, to mortals life supplying!
Make Thou my soul henceforth on Thee to live;
Ever a taste of heavenly sweetness give.
6
O loving Pelican! O Jesu Lord!
Unclean I am, but cleanse me in Thy Blood:
Of which a single drop, for sinners spilt,
Can purge the entire world from all its guilt.
7
Jesu! Whom for the present veiled I see,
What I so thirst for, oh, vouchsafe to me:
That I may see Thy countenance unfolding,
And may be blest Thy glory in beholding. Amen.

Prayers Said By The Priest While Vesting

Washing of his hands
Give virtue O Lord, to my hands, that every stain may be wiped away: that I may be enabled to serve
Thee without defilement of mind or body.
Da, Dómine, virtútem mánibus meis ad abstergéndam omnem máculam; ut sine pollutióne mentis et
córporis váleam tibi servire.
The Amice.
Place, O Lord, the helmet of salvation upon my head, that I may overcome the assaults of the devil.
Impóne, Dómine, cápiti meo gáleam salútis, ad expugnándos diabólicos incúrsus.
The Alb.
Cleanse me, O Lord, and purify my heart, that being made white in the Blood of the Lamb, I may have
Thy fruition of everlasting joys.
Deálba me, Dómine, et munda cor meam; ut, in sánguine Agni dealbátus, gáudiis pérfruar
sempitérnis.
The Cincture.
Gird me, O Lord, with the girdle of purity and extinguish in my loins the desire of lust: so that the virtue
of continence and chastity may ever abide within me.
Praecinge me, Domine, cingulo puritatis, et exstingue in lumbis meis humorem libidinis: ut maneat in
me semper virtus continentiae, et castitatis.
The Maniple
May I be worthy, O Lord, so to bear the maniple of tears and sorrow: that with joy I may receive the
reward of my labour.
Mérear, Dómine, portáre manípulum fletus et dolóris; ut cum exsultatióne recípiam mercédem labóris.
The Stole
Restore to me, O Lord, the stole of mortality, which I lost by the transgression of the first parent: and
although unworthy, as I draw near to Thy sacred mystery, may I be found worthy of everlasting joy.
Redde mihi, Dómine stolam immortalitátis, quam pérdidi in prævaricatióne primi parétis: et, quamvis
indígnus accédo ad tuum sacrum mystérium, mérear tamen gáudium sempitérnum.
The Chasuble
O Lord, Thou hast said: My yoke is easy, and My burden is light: make me so able to bear it, that I may
obtain Thy favour. Amen.
Dómine, qui dixisti: Jugum meam suáve est et onus meam leve: fac, ut istud portáre sic váleam, quod
cónsequar tuam grátiam. Amen

O my God, help me to make a fervent Communion. Mary dearest mother, pray to Jesus for me. All ye
saints, who were great lovers of the Blessed Sacrament, help me now to prepare well to receive Jesus in
Holy Communion. Amen.
O Mary my Mother, give me Jesus, prepare my heart for his coming. (Repeat many times as you
approach the altar.)

Act of Union with the Sacrifice when we cannot assist at It

As I can not this day enjoy the happiness of assisting at the holy mysteries, O my God! I transport
myself in spirit to the foot of Thine altar; I unite with the Church, by the hands of the priest, offers Thee
Thy adorable Son; I offer myself with Him by Him and in His name. I adore, I praise, and thank Thee,
imploring Thy mercy, invoking Thy assistance, and presenting Thee homage I owe Thee as my Creator,
the love due to Thee as my Saviour. Apply to my soul, I beseech Thee, O merciful Jesus! Thy infinite
merits; apply them also to those for whom I particularly wish to pray. I desire to Communicate
Spiritually, that Thy blood may purify, Thy flesh strengthen, and Thy Spirit sanctify me. May I never
forget, that Thou, my Divine Redeemer, hast died for me; may I die to all that is not Thee, that hereafter
I may live eternally with Thee. Amen

Prayer before a Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight, and with the most
fervent desire of my soul, I pray and beseech Thee that Thou would impress upon my heart lively
sentiments of faith, hope and charity with true contrition for my sins and a firm purpose of amendment;
while with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within my self and mentally contemplate Thy five
wounds, having before my eyes the words that David the prophet put upon Thy lips concerning Thee, O
good Jesus: they have pieced my hands and my feet, they have numbered all my bones. Amen.

Anima Christi
Soul of Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus! hear me;
Within Thy wounds hide me;
Never permit me to be separated from Thee;
At the hour of death, call me;
And bid me to come to Thee;
And with Thy saints, I may praise Thee;

Amen.

Pray for a few moments in secret - (Acts of welcome and love to Jesus just come into our hearts.)

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy! Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor

us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. 0 clement, 0 loving, 0 sweet Virgin Mary.
V. Pray for us, 0 holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.
V. 0 God, our refuge and our strength look down in mercy on Thy people who cry to Thee; and by
the intercession of the glorious and Immaculate Virgin Mary Mother of God, of St. Joseph her spouse,

Prayer to St. Michael

Holy Michael the archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and
snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God thrust down into hell Satan and all wicked spirits, who wander through the world

Offering of all the Masses in the World

I unite myself with every Mass which at this time is being offered throughout the world. I place them in
the hands of Mary, the Mediatrix of all graces, that she may obtain by this presentation of the Blood of
Christ to the most Holy Trinity, relief for the sick and dying, the conversion of infidels and sinners, and
the perseverance of the faithful. Amen

An Oblation
Take, O Lord, into Thy hands my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my will. All that I
am, and have, Thou hast given me, and so I surrender them to Thee, to be so disposed in accordance
with Thy holy will.
Give me only Thy love and Thy grace, with these I am rich enough and desire nothing more. Amen.

An Act of Resignation
O Lord, my God, from this moment do I accept from Thy hands, with a quiet and trusting heart,
whatsoever death Thou shalt choose to send me, with all its pains and griefs. Amen.

Universal Prayer of Clement XI For All Things Necessary To Salvation

O my God, I believe in Thee, but do Thou strengthen my faith. All my hopes are in Thee, do Thou
secure them. I love Thee with my whole heart, teach me to love Thee daily more and more. I am sorry
for having offended Thee, do Thou increase my sorrow.
I adore Thee as my first beginning, I aspire after Thee as my last end. I give Thee thanks as my constant
benefactor; I call upon Thee as my sovereign protector.
Vouchsafe, O my God, to conduct me by Thy wisdom, to restrain me by Thy justice, to comfort me by
Thy mercy, to defend me by Thy power.
To Thee I desire to consecrate all my thoughts, words, actions, and sufferings; that henceforward I may
think of Thee, speak of Thee, and willingly refer all my actions to Thy greater glory: and suffer willingly
whatever Thou shalt appoint.
Lord, I desire that in all things Thy will may be done, because it is Thy will, and in the manner that Thou
willets.
I beg of Thee to enlighten my understanding, to inflame my will, to purify my body, and to sanctify my
soul. Give me strength, O my God, to expiate my offences, to overcome my temptations, to subdue my
passions, and to acquire the virtues proper for my state.
Fill my heart with tender affection for Thy goodness, a hatred for my faults, a love for my neighbour,
and a contempt of the world.
Let me always remember to be submissive to my superiors, charitable to my inferiors, faithful to my
friends, and indulgent towards my enemies.
Assist me to overcome sensuality by mortification, avarice by almsgiving, anger by meekness and
tepidity by devotion.
O my God, make me prudent in my undertakings, courageous in dangers, patient in afflictions, and
humble in prosperity. Grant, that I may be ever attentive in my prayers, temperate at my meals, diligent
in my appointments, and constant in my resolutions.
Let my conscience be ever upright and pure, my exterior modest, my conversation edifying, and my
comportment regular.
Assist me, that I may continually labour to overcome nature, by corresponding to Thy grace, to keep
Thy commandments and to work out my salvation.
Discover to me, O my God, the nothingness of this word, the greatness of Heaven, the shortness of
time, and the length of eternity.
Grant, that I may prepare for death, that I may fear Thy judgements, that I may escape hell, and in the
end obtain heaven, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of St. Augustine

(Made public by order of Pope Urban VII.)
Before Thy eyes, O Lord, we bring our offences, and we compare them with the stripes we have
received.
If we consider the evil we have wrought, what we suffer is little, what we deserve is great.
What we have committed is very grave, what we have suffered is very slight.
We feel the punishment of sin, yet withdraw not from the obstinacy of sinning.
Under Thy lash our inconstancy is visited, but our sinfulness is not changed.
Our suffering soul is tormented, but our neck is not bent. Our life groans under sorrow, yet mends not in
deed.
If Thou spare us we correct not our ways: if Thou punish we cannot endure it.
In time of correction we confess our wrong-doing: after Thou visitation we forget that we have wept.
If Thou stretch forth Thy hand we promise amendment; if Thou withhold the sword we keep not our
promise.
If Thou strike we cry out for mercy: if Thou spare we again provoke Thee to strike.
Here we are before Thee, O Lord shameless criminals we know that unless Thou pardon we shall
deservedly perish.
Grant then almighty Father, without our deserving it, the pardon we ask for; Thou, Who made out of
nothing, those who ask Thee. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
V. Deal not with us, O Lord, according to our sins.
R. Neither requite us according to our iniquities
Let us pray,
O God. Thou are offended by sin and pacified by penance; mercifully regard the prayers of Thy suppliant
people and turn away the scourges of Thy wrath, which we deserve for our sins. Through Christ Our
Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Perseverance
O supreme and eternal God, I thank Thee for creating me, redeeming me by Jesus Christ, making me a
Christian called to the true faith, and having waited for my repentance after so many sins.
O infinite Bounty, I love Thee above all things, and I repent with my whole heart for having offended
Thee. I have confidence that Thou hast already forgiven me, but being always in danger of again falling
into sin, I beg of Thee for the love of Jesus Christ, to grant me holy perseverance until death. Help me,
O Lord, for Thou knowest my weakness and suffer me not again to be separated from Thee, may I die a
thousand times rather than again have the misfortune of losing Thy grace. O Mary, my mother, obtain
for me holy perseverance.

Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy
protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but graciously hear and answer me. Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph

O blessed Joseph, faithful guardian and protector of virgins, to whom God entrusted Jesus and Mary, I
implore thee by the love which thou didst bear them, to preserve me from every defilement of soul and
body, that I may always serve them in holiness and purity of life. Amen.

Prayer to our Patron Saint

O great saint, whose name I am privileged to bear, beneath whose special protection God has confided
the care of my salvation, when at baptism I was adopted and made a child of God; do thou help me by
continual intercession to lead a truly Christian life, and assist me, O gracious protector of my soul, to
recover and preserve the grace of baptism I may have lost by sin. Plead for me before God that I may
receive the grace of following faithfully thy holy example and being protected by thee both throughout
the length of this troublous life and at the hour of my death, I may rejoice with thee in glory everlasting.
Amen.

Prayer for Obtaining Indulgences

My Lord and my God, I humbly beseech Thee, that in consideration of the merits of Our Lord Jesus
Christ, Thou wilt grant unto me all the indulgences attached to my prayers and works this day. I desire
to enter into the dispositions necessary to gain these indulgences, that I may satisfy divine justice and
assist the souls in purgatory. Amen.

Prayer before the Altar

O Jesus Christ, my Lord, with what great love didst Thou pass over the painful road which lead Thee to
death; and I, how often have I abandoned Thee: But now I love Thee with my whole soul, and because I
love Thee, I am sincerely sorry for having offended Thee. My Jesus, pardon me, and permit me to
accompany Thee in this journey. Thou are going to die for the love of me, and it is my wish also, O my
dearest Redeemer, to die for the love of Thee. O yes, my Jesus, in Thy love I wish to live, in Thy love I
wish to die.

Prayer before the Altar after the Stations

O God, Who for the world's redemption wast pleased to be born, circumcised, rejected by the Jews,
betrayed by the kiss of the traitor Judas, bound with chains, led like an innocent lamb to the slaughter
and shamefully presented before Annas, Caiphas, Pilate, and Herod; accused by false witnesses, beaten
with whips and buffeted, insulted, spat upon, crowned with thorns, smitten with a reed, blindfolded,
stripped of Thy garments, fastened with nails to the Cross, and lifted up on high; reputed with thieves,
made to drink gall and vinegar, and wounded with a lance. Oh! By these most sacred sufferings, which,
unworthy as I am, I thus commemorate, and by Thy Holy Cross and death, deliver me, Lord, from the
pains of hell, deign to lead me where Thou didst lead that thief who was crucified by Thy side: Thou
Who, with The Father and The Holy Ghost, livest and reignest, world without end. Amen.

Indulgence.

Prayers For Confession
Before Confession
My God, grant me light to know my sins, grace to confess them with humility, grace to be truly sorry for
them, and above all, the grace of a sincere purpose of amendment. All ye saints in heaven who were at
one time sinners here on earth, pray and intercede for me, a poor sinner; help me to make a good
confession. Mary Refuge of Sinners, pray for me. Amen,

Prayer to St. Gerard

ST. Gerard Patron of a Good Confession, pray for souls over come by fear and shame; your prayers won
courage to confess sins wilfully concealed from the minister of God. Help me to make a good
confession. Help me to know my sins.
Obtain for me true sorrow for my sins, a firm purpose never to sin again. And when I kneel in the
Confessional be with me and help me to tell all my sins in spite of fear or shame. St. Gerard, in your
hands I place this Confession. Be to me what you were to many another poor soul, "an angel of God
sent to deliver me from hell." Amen.

Examination Of Conscience
Prayer of St. Alphonsus.
O God of Infinite Majesty, behold at the feet the traitor, who has again offended thee, but who now in all
humility asks; Thy pardon O Lord, reject me not. Thou canst not despise humble heart. I thank Thee for
having waited for me, for not having allowed me, to die when I was in sin and to be sent to Hell, as I
had deserved. The patience Thou hast shown towards me makes me hope that through the merits of
Jesus Christ Thou wilt pardon in this confession all my offences I repent of them because I have
deserved hell and I have lost heaven, I have displeased Thee Who art Infinite Goodness.
I love Thee O Sovereign Good and because I love Thee. I repent of all my offences against Thee. I have
turned my back upon Thee. I have despised thy grace, Thy friendship in a word. O Lord. I have wilfully
lost Thee. For the love of Jesus Christ: forgive me all my sins: I repent of them with my whole heart: I
hate. I detest them I abhor them more than all other evils. I repent not only of my mortal but venal sins
which likewise displease Thee. I purpose for the future, with the help of thy grace, never more wilfully
to offend Thee. My God, may I die rather than sin again. Amen.

ACT OF CONTRITION
O my God, I am sorry for all the sins I have committed during my life, since my last confession, and
since my last act of contrition.
O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and I detest them above all things, because they
have crucified my loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, but most of all, because they offend Thy Infinite
Goodness. I firmly resolve by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid
the occasion of sin. Amen.

After Confession
Jesus. Mary and St. Gerard I thank you for my, good confession: help me to lead a better life in the in
the future Amen

Prayer of St. Alphonsus

My dear Jesus, how much do I not owe Thee. By the merits of Thy blood I trust that I have this day
been pardoned. I thank Thee with all my heart. My God. I have often lost Thee in the past, but I will
lose thee no more. I am really resolved to change my life. Thou deservest all my love. My will is never
again to be separated from Thee. I have already promised Thee, and I promise Thee again at this
moment, rather, to die than to offend Thee again. I promise to avoid the occasions of my sins, and to use
this means (here mention it) for not falling again.
But Thou my Jesus, knowest my weaknesses, give me the grace to be faithful to Thee until death, and to
have recourse to Thee in my temptations.

Most Holy Virgin Mary assist me. You are the Mother of Perseverance: all my hope is in Thee; help me
to keep my resolutions. Amen.
Our Father. Hail Mary, for these intentions.

Renewal of Baptismal Promises.

Formula: O God, realising full well the importance of these Baptismal Promises for eternal salvation, I
beg Thy grace to keep them more faithfully after this renewal.

promises of my Baptism.

Prayer to Saint Joseph

October Prayer.
To thee, O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse in our tribulations and, whilst imploring the aid of thy
Most Holy Spouse, we confidently invoke thy patronage also. By that love which united thee to the
Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and by the fatherly affection which thou didst embrace the Infant
Jesus, we humbly beseech thee graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased by His
Blood, and to help us in our necessities by thy powerful intercession.
Protect, O most provident guardian of the Holy Family, the chosen children of Jesus Christ. Ward off
from us, O loving father, all taint of error and corruption. Graciously assist us from Heaven, O most
powerful protector, in our struggle with the powers of darkness and, as thou didst once rescue the Child
Jesus from imminent peril to His life, so now defend the Holy Church of God from the snares of her
enemies and from all adversity.
Shield each one of us with thy unceasing patronage that, imitating thy example and supported by thy aid,
we may be enabled to live a good life, die a happy death, and secure everlasting happiness in heaven.

Novena to the Immaculate Conception
from 29th November to 7th December
Most holy Virgin, who pleased our Lord and became His Mother, Virgin Immaculate in thy body and
soul, in thy faith and love, look kindly on us unfortunate ones who implore thy powerful protection. The
infernal serpent, upon whom the primeval curse was laid, continues, alas, to attack and tempt the hapless
children of Eve. Ah! do thou, our blessed Mother, our Queen and Advocate, who at the first moment of
thy conception didst crush the enemy's head, do thou gather together our prayers and we beseech, our
hearts one with thine, present them before God's throne, that we may never allow ourselves to be caught
in the snares laid for us, but that we may reach the portal of salvation, and that the Church and Christian
society may once more chant the hymn of deliverance, of victory and of peace.
Amen.

Act of Consecration of the Society of St. Pius X to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Her Sorrowful
and Immaculate Heart.
(1984)

W e have recourse to Thee, O Immaculate Mother of God, in what is a tragic hour for men, and in
the midst of an unprecedented storm breaking upon the Church from top to bottom. How wouldst Thou,
who standing at the foot of the Cross, didst compassionate so intimately Thy divine Son in His
sufferings, not have compassion on His Mystical Body the Church in its Passion!
While without, Communism is spreading everywhere its errors — to the point of infecting the Church
with them — the venom of a false ecumenism is, within its very bosom, poisoning countless souls,
leading some astray and others now out of the unity of the true Faith and of the unique Ark of Salvation.
Amidst so many ruins and betrayals, it has pleased God to raise up, as of old, our Priestly Society as a
little army for reconstruction. But aware of its weakness, today it turns to Thee, Virgin Most Powerful,
Help of Christians. Before the immensity of our mission, distrusting our own strength, we want to place
ourselves under Thy maternal and powerful protection, O Virgin, terrible as an army in battle array,
Thou who didst receive from the beginning the promise of crushing the serpent's head. In the midst of
the dangers threatening us, we beg God to deign to confirm, by Thee, O Ark of the Covenant, our
vocation to serve His Church.
Therefore, O Immaculate Virgin, we prostrate ourselves today at the foot of Thy throne of grace and,
wanting to add to Thy praise and glory, in order to unite our little part to the filial love of Christ Thy
Son towards Thee, our sweetest Mother, we consecrate irrevocably to Thee, and most especially to Thy
Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, our Priestly Society of St. Pius X, its priests, seminarians and
Brothers; Sisters, Oblates and Third Order members; and all its spiritual family.
And so that henceforth Thou be the Sovereign of our Society, by an act of perpetual donation into Thy
hands, we offer and give Thee all our goods and our houses that Thou mayest be the true Mistress of
them; we deliver and consecrate to Thee our bodies and souls, our whole selves, that Thou dispose of us
according to Thy good pleasure. Those souls also confided to us do we deliver to Thee that Thou guard
them with Thy motherly protection; lastly we confide and abandon to Thee our apostolate, that
henceforth it be Thine, O Queen of Apostles!
Thus from now on our Society is Thy property; keep it so firmly, O Tower of David, that it never be able
to leave the right path. O Virgin Most Powerful, maintain each of its members unwaveringly attached to
it. Keep our faith virginal, O Virgin most Pure, who didst receive the power to crush all heresies in the
whole world! O Mary, full of grace, preserve in the Church the Sacrifice of the Mass in its ancient and
venerable grace-bearing Roman rite; and keep us faithful to it. O Queen of all saints, make priestly,
religious and domestic holiness blossom amongst us. O Mother of divine grace, keep our Society as a
fruitful and ever-living branch of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. O Mother of the Church, obtain for
us the grace of being ever more docile and apt instruments in the hands of God for the salvation of as
many souls as possible. And that we may recognise that Thou hast graciously heard our prayers, O
Virgin Most Merciful, send us many of those labourers that the divine Lord of the harvest is calling to
His harvest. Grant us lastly, O Mother of the Eternal High Priest, the grace to work for the restoration
of the Catholic priesthood and by it to magnifying the priestly soul of Jesus Christ which will at last
bring about the establishment of His reign over individuals, families and States.
Confident in our title of Apostles of Jesus and Mary, we promise Thee, O Queen of martyrs and
confessors to work until our last breath for the restoration of all things in Christ, for the spreading of His
Kingdom, and for the glorious triumph of Thy Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Mary.. Amen.

Prayer of Daily Thanks

O my Almighty God, I thank Thee for all Thy Blessings, Graces, Virtues and Inspirations this day and
every day of my life. Glory be.
O my Sweetest Virgin Mother and Queen, I thank thee for all thy kind intercession for me this day and
every day of my life. Glory be.
My dear Guardian Angel ..., I thank thee for thy companionship, protection, guidance and supplying for
my deficiencies this day and every day of my life. Glory be.
All ye Holy Angels, Archangels and Saints, I thank ye for all thy prayers for me this day and every day of
my life. Glory be.

Prayer to my Guardian Angel

Angel of God my guardian dear,
To Whom His love commits me here,
Ever this night, be at my side,
To light, to guard, to rule and to guide
From stain of sin, keep me free,
At the hour of death, my helper be.

Prayer Against Evil Thoughts

O Lord my God, be Thou not far from me: O my God make haste to help me: for various thoughts have
risen up against me, and great fears afflict my soul.
How shall I pass without hurt? How shall I over come them?

Prayer to Overcome the Habit of Sin

All ye Saints in heaven Who, for a time here on earth, were under the power of the habit of sin; thy
victory over vice encourages me. By prayer, the Sacraments and self control, ye at last mastered thy
passions.
Grant, O! Lord, that, encouraged by their example, I may (by prayer, Confession, Holy Communion and
the practice of self control) soon master these passions these habits of ... of mine that have been the
cause of so many sins of my past life.
O all ye penitent Saints, take an interest in me, pity me and pray for me.
Mary the Hope and Refuge of sinners, intercede for me. Amen.

Prayer for Daily Neglects.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all Love, all It's Suffering and all It's Merits.
First, to expiate all the sins I have committed this day and during all my life. Glory be.
Second, to supply for the good I ought to have done and that I have neglected this day and everyday of
my life. Glory be.
Third, to purify the good I have done badly this day and every day of my life. Glory be.
Examination Of Conscious.
Lord, please give me the grace to see myself as Thou seest me; and as I shall see myself on judgement
day

Act of Contrition.
O my God, I am sorry for all the sins I have committed during my life, since my last confession, and
since my last act of contrition.
O my God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and I detest them above all things, because they
have crucified my loving Savour, Jesus Christ, and most of all, because they offend Thy Infinite
Goodness. I firmly resolve by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid
the occasion of sin. Amen.

Renewal of Baptismal Promises.

Formula: O God, realising full well the importance of these Baptismal Promises for eternal salvation, I
beg Thy grace to keep them more faithfully after this renewal.
Before the Tabernacle of Thy Son, Jesus, before the altar of Mary, Thy Mother and mine, I renew the
promises of my Baptism. I renounce all deliberate occasions of sins, especially those that I have
frequently committed in the past, all those allurements to sin: the voluntary dangerous occasions of sin. I
promise also to be faithful to the resolutions of my (last retreat, mission, Communion, Rosary, etc).

O Mary my Mother and my Queen, keep me ever loyal to Jesus Christ, my Lord, my Redeemer and my
King.

Amen.

Spiritual Communion.
O my Jesus! I turn towards the Holy Tabernacle where Thou liest hidden for the love of me. I can not
receive Thee in Holy Communion at this moment. Come nevertheless into my heart, sanctify it, purify it,
render it like unto Thy Own.
Lord, I am not worth for Thee to come into my heart. Say but the word and my soul shall be healed.

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
O Good Jesus! hear me;
Within Thy wounds hide me;
Never permit me to be separated from Thee;
At the hour of death, call me;
And bid me to come to Thee;
And with Thy saints, I may praise Thee;

Amen.

Prayers for the Holy Souls

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual life shine upon them. May they rest in peace.
Amen.

May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give You my heart and my soul.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, may I breathe forth my souls in peace with You. Amen.

Lord into Thy hands I Commend our spirits

Praise be Jesus Christ, now, and for ever. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael

Holy Michael the archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and
snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God thrust down into hell Satan and all wicked spirits, who wander through the world
for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Prayer of an expectant Mother

I can imagine how great was thy joy, Mary, when the angel announced that thou were to become a
mother - the true mother of Gods own son! Thou wert so happy that thy pure heart burst forth in song
of praise; “My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior!”
Thou must have often thought of the wonderful Son, Whom thou still bear. O Mary, think now of my
darling and watch over him (her) always. During those months before the first Christmas morn, how
reverently thou didst guard the precious treasure within thy holy body. Now I too, carry within me a
precious treasure, the body and soul of my child. Thy son was the Son of God; and my child will soon
become an adopted child of God, when the waters of Baptism make the soul sinless and beautiful.
Mary thank God for me; thank Him for all His goodness to me. Teach me how to care for the child He
has given me, make me a good mother as thou wret. And Mary, let me ask thee one thing more. Since
thy Boy was the best and the most loveable of children, please take care that my child may grow to be as
much as possible like Jesus and thyself, His own dear mother. This is the grace I desire most of all .
Amen
Veni Sancte Spiritus.

Prayer for the Conversion of a Brother and Sister

Heart of Jesus, I humbly kneel before Thee, adoring Thee as the Heart of my Lord and my God. Pardon
the sins by which I have offended Thee and render myself unworthy of Thy blessings. For Thy own sake,
for the honour and the glory of Thy infinite mercy, listen to my prayer for the grace and salvation of my
brother and sister who have strayed. From all eternity Thou hast loved them; have mercy on them now.
Thou whilst that my brother and sister be converted and live. Effect in them what Thou hast decreed.
From the Cross Thou hast drawn all to Thyself; loosen the bonds in which they lie chained. Thou hast
brought them at a great price; take possession of Thy property. Lead them to the fountain of pardon and
grace which Thou hast opened in Thy Church that they may receive new life.
Heart of Jesus, listen to my prayers, for Thou cannot hear unmoved a brother’s prayer for his little
brother and sister. Grant me what is dearest to me on earth, the salvation of my brother and sister, and I
will eternally praise Thy holy name. Amen.

PRAYER TO CONSECRATE OUR HOME TO CHRIST THE KING:

Most Holy King, adorable Heart, my Master and my Lord, I ask Thee to be the
King of this house of mine. May Thy Heart, filled with mercy, spread its mercies in
it, in this house and upon those who dwell in it. May Thy Wisdom instruct hearts in
the knowledge of Goodness, Thy Goodness, and may Thy Power alone reign in it.
May no human thought, act, or desire ever take the place of what Thou wantest.
From this moment on and in all future time, be the only One here who commands,
directs, and counsels. We give ourselves to Thee in soul and body, as Thine, always
Thine, for the earth and on earth, for Heaven and in Heaven. And Mary, Most
Lovable Mother, Lily of the Trinity, bloom in this dwelling with Thy smile and Thy
perfume of grace, gather our hearts in the shadow of Thy purity, enclose them in the
chalice of Thy maternal love, and defend us from Hell and from its cruel legions by
clasping us upon Thine inviolate womb and Thine immaculate, pierced heart.
Mother and Queen, be our Mother and our Queen. Joseph, faithful guardian of the
two Most Holy Ones, protect us, who want to belong to Them. Watchful and active,
lead us and assist us along the pathways of Salvation and in the dangers of life.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, through Your constant presence make this dwelling a
house in Nazareth.
Heart of Jesus, Heart of Mary, and Heart of Joseph, give us Your love and take
ours. Save us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

ENTHRONEMENT CEREMONY FOR SCHOOLS

Before the Ceremony
1. Prepare the students by explaining in simple language the meaning of the Enthronement, e.g.: We are
going to tell the Sacred Heart He is our King; we are inviting Him to come to our school and our
classrooms, and we are going to prepare a throne for Him in our rooms and in our hearts, etc. Urge the
students to pray each day that they may prepare as worthily as possible. We suggest these prayers:

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we love Thee.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. (3 times each)

These prayers may be said as a private novena or at the beginning of each day in the classroom.
2. Prepare a "throne" or shrine in the front of each classroom with the help of the students. Decorate it
as beautifully as possible with flowers and candles. The more elaborate it is, the more honour is given to
the King of Love and the greater is the impression on the children. If the ceremony begins in the church,
decorate the Sacred Heart altar as richly as possible; if there is no Sacred Heart altar, set up a statue in
the sanctuary on the Gospel side with flowers and lights. If the ceremony starts in the auditorium,
prepare a beautiful shrine in the centre of the stage. If there is a Sacred Heart statue or picture in some
central point of the school where the Act of Consecration is read, decorate that one too.
3. Encourage the students to purchase their own pictures or statues out of their "sacrifice" money. We
recommend the use of the all-metal Sacred Heart shrine for the classroom as it makes a splendid throne
with vigil light; or the official picture, "Jesus, King of Love," which can be purchased framed or
unframed at very low cost. This picture is ideal for the Enthronement as it symbolises the kingship of the
Sacred Heart.
4. If possible begin the day with attendance at Holy Mass. Try to have this Mass offered for the honour
and glory of the Sacred Heart and suggest that the students contribute their pennies for the stipend. Ask
them to receive Communion in reparation to the Sacred Heart for those students who do not love Him.
5. Place the pictures or statues for each room upright in the sanctuary (or on the auditorium stage),
facing the students, in front of the Sacred Heart shrine. Have holy water nearby for the blessing.
6. Appoint a picture-bearer from each room, together with two escorts. Appoint a cross-bearer and two
candle-bearers for the procession. Appoint two acolytes to accompany the priest.
7. Prepare Sacred Heart hymns to last during the procession.
Note: We suggest the following impressive practice: Appoint 12 children to carry red roses (or vigil
lights), symbolising the 12 promises. At some time during the ceremony (before leaving the church or
auditorium, or at the main statue in the school) the priest will say a word about the importance of the
promises and then announce each promise in turn, as the promise is named, the students will say: "We
believe in Thy promises, O Sacred Heart!" The student representing that promise then places the rose
or vigil light at the feet of the Sacred Heart.

THE CEREMONY
Assembly in church or auditorium (or in other place if necessary).
(Stand) Singing of 2 hymns.
(Stand) Blessing of the Statues or pictures by the pictures by the priest.
(Stand) Recitation of the Apostles' Creed by all as an act of faith and reparation for schools that exclude
the truths of our Faith.
(Sit) Talk by the priest on the meaning of the Enthronement—what the Sacred Heart expects from the
children (prayers, sacrifices, and love for the Eucharist)—urging them to be apostles of the
Enthronement in their own homes.
(All stand) Procession. Cross-bearer and candle-bearers go to rear of church, to lead procession.
Picture-bearers come to front and receive picture from priest. As they return to the aisle, the escorts take
their place on either side. In the meantime, a Sacred Heart hymn is started. (Try to keep the singing
continuously during the procession, in order to maintain the interest of the students.) When all is ready
the children file out of their places and follow the cross-bearer. The picture-bearers may accompany their
own classmates, or may follow them, just before the priest or in front of the sisters. The procession
proceeds to the main statue. If the 12 roses are carried, the bearers could precede the priest.

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, * who told St. Margaret Mary about Thy desire to rule over the entire
world, * we have come here today to tell Thee publicly * that Thou art the only King of our school. *
From now on we resolve to study out of love for Thee * and to be everything Thou dost want us to be *
as children of Thy Sacred Heart.
Thou will be King of our minds by our faith in all Thy teachings. * Thou wilt be King of our
hearts by our unselfish love for Thee * and we will keep this love burning in our hearts * by frequent
attendance at Mass, * by receiving Thee often in Holy Communion, * and by visiting Thee in the Blessed
Sacrament.
We ask Thee, O Sacred Heart, to watch over and bless our studies: * to sanctify our joys and
soothe our sorrows. * If any of us should ever have the unhappiness of hurting Thee by sin, * remind
them of Thy goodness and mercy toward Thy repentant children.
We also promise Thee, O Jesus, always to be faithful to Thy commandments, * to obey our
parents and our teachers, * to be always pure in thought, word and deed, * at home, in school and at
play. * By our purity we will console Thy Heart and the Heart of Thy Mother * for so many students
who offend Thee by sin.
And now we ask the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Fatima, * and St. Joseph, faithful
friend of the Sacred Heart, * to present to Thee this our Act of Consecration * and to remind us of it
every day of our lives!
Glory to the Heart of Jesus, our King and our Father!

8. One Our Father and Hail Mary for absent students, living and dead, for former students, for the sick,
for all their families, etc. Students may now present their personal petitions.
9. At this point the Prayer of Thanksgiving is said, or the priest may read the 12 promises. After each
promise the children say:
We believe in Thy promises, O Sacred Heart!"
If the 12 roses or vigil lights have been carried in procession, they should be placed at the feet of the
statue after the naming of each promise.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Note: A Litany of Thanksgiving may be substituted for this prayer, if so desired. Encourage the
students to contribute their ideas. If the prayer is used, it may be dialogued by the various grades.

We thank Thee, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, * for Thy goodness and mercy * in having chosen our
school from among so many others, * as a place where Thou art honoured as King * and where Thou
art loved as a Friend. * We are grateful for the great happiness Thou hast given to us * by coming to our
school, * to watch over our studies * and to share in our work, our sorrows and even our joys.
In gratitude for this great honour, * which we do not deserve, * we promise Thee to try each day
to know Thee better, * to love Thee more fervently * and to obey Thee more faithfully.
We ask the Immaculate Heart of Mary * to help us show our gratitude to Thee * for all Thou
hast done for us, * not only today but every day of our lives. * And to make sure that everything we say
or do will be pleasing to Thee, * we consecrate once more our bodies and souls, * our words and our
deeds, to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Thy Mother and our Mother.
Once more we thank Thee, dear Jesus, * for the wonderful gifts Thou hast showered upon us: *
the gift of our faith and the sacraments, * our parents, our priests, * (our sisters) and teachers, * but
especially for the three great gifts of Thy loving Heart to Thy Church and Thy children: * the gift of
knowing and loving Thy Father; * the gift of Thyself in the crib, on the cross and on the altar, * and the
gift of the Holy Ghost. * We thank Thee now with all our hearts * and we ask Thee to help us to remain
faithful to Thee here below * so that our entire school can thank Thee for all eternity * together with our
Blessed Mother, St. Joseph * and all the angels and saints in our heavenly home. * Amen.

10. (Stand) Hail, Holy Queen in honour of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in reparation for sins of
impurity.

11. Prayers
Priest : All :
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Thy kingdom come!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of our hearts!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of our schools!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of our homes!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Be King of Australia!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Have mercy on us!
Immaculate Heart of Mary Pray for us!
St. Joseph Pray for us!
St. Margaret Mary Pray for us!
St. Pius X Pray for us!

12. Hymn to the Sacred Heart and procession to the rooms. The cross-bearer and candle-bearers
conduct priest and two acolytes to the first room. In the meantime, the other students could be singing
hymns, saying the Litany of the Sacred Heart, or the Rosary while waiting for the priest to arrive. If
there are many rooms, two or more priests could visit the rooms.
Important: Do not allow the picture or statue to be placed on the throne until the priest arrives. The
following procedure is observed: the priest might first remind the students that the Sacred Heart wants
to be King of their room as well as of the whole school. Then he asks the teacher to place the image on
the throne. Next, everyone kneels and recites the short Act of Consecration of the room to the Sacred
Heart. Then the certificate is signed by a student, the teacher and the priest. The priest then gives his
blessing and moves on to the next room.

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart for the Classroom

(For grades 4 - 9)

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, * we the pupils of (the grade_______ class or room) * are gathered
here to tell Thee * that Thou art the King of our hearts. * Other boys and girls may not love Thee, * but
we want to tell Thee that we really love Thee * and we want Thee to be our King of Love.
We promise Thee today, * in the presence of our guardian angels, * that because of our love for
Thee * we will not be afraid to make sacrifices for Thee; * and especially do we promise to be always
very obedient to our teachers and our parents, * who work so hard for us, * as Thou wast obedient to
Thy parents * when Thou wast a boy at Nazareth.
We also promise Thee * that we will try to be Thy missionaries, * especially in our homes, * and
we will try to save many souls for Thee * by our prayers, sacrifices, Masses * (Holy Communions) and
visits the Blessed Sacrament.
In return, dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, * we ask Thee to bless our Holy Father the Pope, * our
bishops, our priests, our teachers, * our relatives, our friends, our enemies * and all poor sinners. * But
especially we ask Thee to bless us, Thy faithful friends, * and make us love Thee more and more.

ALL
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus we love Thee!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Thy kingdom come!
Immaculate Heart of Mary pray for us!
St. Joseph, friend of the Sacred Heart pray for us.

Note: For Grades 1 to 3 inclusive, the above aspirations may be substituted for the Act of Consecration.
13. The ceremony terminates in one or two ways: It may end in the classroom or the students may
return to the church for Benediction.
Note: We cannot stress too strongly the importance of the procession and the Enthronement ceremony
in each room. The impression made on the children will be more lasting, and at the same time a
splendid opportunity for follow-up is given to the teacher in charge of each room.

After the Ceremony

1. Renew the short Act of Consecration each day and the longer form on First Fridays. Be sure to have
the solemn renewal of the entire ceremony at the beginning of each school year for the benefit of
newcomers and to honour the Sacred Heart in a solemn way. This is a source of many graces and
blessings for the children and the school.
2. Keep the Sacred Heart shrine decorated each day and add something special for First Fridays and
other feast days of our Lord.
3. Encourage the students to become apostles of the Sacred Heart. One way to do this is to tell them
about the Tarcisian Club and/or the story of the Three Golden Pennies that is accomplishing so much
good in schools and homes everywhere. Urge them to have the Sacred Heart enthroned in their own
homes. Perhaps on the day of the School Enthronement a leaflet on the Enthronement might be given to
each child to take home.

Act of Consecration for the Classroom

(for high schools)
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, * this day, * we, the students of (room ______ or the class), *
consecrate ourselves, * our room, * our work, * our future * to Thy loving Heart. * In humble
adoration * we kneel before Thee * to offer our homage, * our thanks, * our sacrifices, * our prayers, *
our every thought and word and deed. * Come, dear Jesus, * come into our hearts, * our homes, * our
schools, * and be our King of Love.
Assist us to lead good lives, * and to remain faithful to Thee until death. * Strengthen us against
temptations * that we may not hurt Thy loving Heart by willful sin. * Help us to love our fellow students
* and to spread Thy kingdom among men. * The greatest joy of our lives * shall be to make Thee
known * and loved * and served! * Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, hear our loving prayer, * accept our
consecration. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come!

ENTHRONEMENT OF THE PARISH

Note: A parish Enthronement is a social act of homage to the Sacred Heart, by which the parish, as a
social unit, publicly acknowledges the sovereign rights of Christ the King over each and every member.
It is a solemn act of adoration and reparation on the part of the parish for those Catholics who refuse to
submit to the "sweet yoke and light burden'' of the Sacred Heart, the King of love. Therefore, it should
be carried out with great solemnity on some outstanding feast day or Sunday in the evening before
Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, or at the end of a mission or triduum. Families should be invited
to receive Holy Communion as a group in the morning for the reign of the Sacred Heart in their homes
and in the parish. Families who have had the Enthronement in their homes may be invited to renew their
Act of Consecration at home after the parish Enthronement.

The Enthronement should be an outstanding event in the life of the parish. Children should be impressed
with this idea, and perhaps a procession in the church could be arranged, for greater solemnity, in which
an image of the Sacred Heart is carried and hymns sung.
Note: The parish Enthronement does not take the place of the Enthronement in the home.

THE CEREMONY

A. PREPARATION
If there is a statue of the Sacred Heart in the sanctuary or on a side altar, it should be decorated as
beautifully as possible with flowers and lighted candles. If there is no statue, a large picture of the
Sacred Heart may be set up in the sanctuary or on side altar. A prie-dieu is placed in front of the statue.

B. CEREMONIAL
While the congregation sings a hymn to the Sacred Heart, the clergy, preceded by the cross-bearer and
two acolytes carrying lighted candles, proceed to the sanctuary. After the procession (if held) the pastor
(or other priest) goes to the statue, preceded by the cross-bearer, etc. Another priest mounts the pulpit
and announces and explains the steps in the ceremony.
Blessing of the statue. (All stand)
Apostles' Creed, as an act of faith, by congregation. (Stand)
Address by the priest on the significance of the Enthronement. (All sit)
Act of Consecration. (All kneel)

ACT OF CONSECRATION
(Recited by the parish priests)

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, it is our privilege, as shepherds of this parish, to consecrate to Thee our entire
flock.
We begin with the clergy of this parish, whom Thou hast chosen to continue Thy mission of teaching,
governing and sanctifying the faithful. In consecrating ourselves to Thee we wish to enter into the spirit
of expiation and reparation which characterised Thee, the eternal High Priest, and Redeemer of men;
and which has characterised every true pastor of souls, so that like Thee they are willing to give their life
for their sheep. It shall be our constant endeavour to preach the compassion, the mercy and the glory of
the Sacred Heart of Jesus to our people, to lead them to the fountains of living water in the Holy
Eucharist, to kindle in their hearts the burning desire to spread Thy kingdom, and to unite their sacrifice
and sorrows with Thine in reparation for their sins and the sins of others.
We consecrate to Thy loving Heart the religious of this parish, to whose care are entrusted in a special
way the lambs of the flock. They have long since renounced the world, the flesh, and the devil, that they
might serve Thee with all their hearts. This consecration of their lives they repeat today, firmly
determined by word and example to turn the eyes and the hearts of our children to Thee, the true Friend
and Protector of youth.
We consecrate to Thee the fathers and mothers of this parish, the creators of our families and the
founders of our homes. It is our hope that they will enthrone Thee as the Head of their family, whose
divine authority they will always respect, whose law they will observe and under whose powerful
protection they will find, amid a world of difficulties and trials, that security and peace which Thou alone
canst give.
We consecrate to Thee the youth of this parish, whose inexperience and buoyant spirits make them
an easy prey to the fascinations and the allurements of the world. May they, illuminated by Thy light, see
with a clearer vision the wisdom of Thy ways, rather than by the light of bitter experience and remorse.
(And then, that no one be forgotten, we consecrate to Thee the members of this parish who are serving
in the armed forces of our country. Grant them all the graces they need to serve Thee faithfully amid the
dangers of soul and body, and keep them ever close to Thy Sacred Heart.)
Lastly, we consecrate to Thee the lost sheep of the flock who have wandered from their Father's house.
Pour out upon them the torrents of Thy mercy and grace, that in Thy Heart, always burning with charity,
they may find a saving refuge.
And now, dear Lord, on this memorable occasion, bless our parish, watch over it with Thy loving care,
and make this church a favoured sanctuary in which Thou will dispense with a lavish hand the spiritual
treasures which enrich and gladden the hearts of men. We beg it of Thee in the name of Thy Blessed
Mother, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the friend and patroness of the homes of this parish. Amen.

Our Father and Hail Mary for absent parishioners, living and dead.
Benediction or Mass.

ENTHRONEMENT of the SACRED HEART in the HOME

BEFORE THE CEREMONY
Prepare for the Enthronement:
1. Learn what it is and how important it is. Procure explanatory literature. Prepare well.
2. Set a date for the Enthronement in agreement with the Pastor or other priest.
3. If possible the family should assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered that morning for the reign
of the Sacred Heart in your home and as an act of love and reparation to the Sacred Heart. The entire
family should try to receive Communion at this Mass, or at another Mass.
4. Obtain as beautiful a picture or statue of the Sacred Heart as possible. If you already have a picture,
use that one.
5. Below the place of honour reserved for the statue or picture, prepare a "throne" or "altar," that is to
say, a table (or perhaps the mantelpiece), covered with a white cloth, beautifully decorated with flowers
and candles. The picture or statue should be placed on a small table near this "throne" before the
ceremony, and not on the throne itself. Put photographs of deceased and absent members of family
around the "throne". Have Holy Water on the small table.
6. Invite your relatives and friends to be present, thus you will already begin to be an "apostle of the
Sacred Heart." Have a family celebration after the ceremony, with a special treat for the children, who of
course, should be present at the ceremony, even the smallest.
7. Make this day one of the outstanding events of the family life - one long to be remembered. The
greater the solemnity, the better.

THE CEREMONY
1. All gather around the "throne" of the King; father, mother, and children nearest to the priest - who
stands facing the picture of the Sacred Heart.
2. Priest, in surplice and white stole, blesses the picture or statue.

THE BLESSING OF THE PICTURE OR STATUE

Almighty and everlasting God, who dost approve the painting and sculpturing of the images of Thy

vouchsafe, we implore Thee, to bless and sanctify this picture (statue) made in honour and in memory
of the Most Sacred Heart of Thy only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ; and grant, that whosoever
in its presence, will suppliantly worship and honour the Most Sacred Heart of Thy only begotten Son,
may obtain through His merits and intercession grace in this life and everlasting glory in the world to
come. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

(The priest here sprinkles the picture with holy water)

3. Then the father (or in his absence the mother) solemnly installs this picture or statue in the place of
honour prepared for it. This is the symbolic act of Enthronement.
4. All stand while the APOSTLES' CREED is recited as an act of faith on the part of the family.
5. Everyone is seated while the priest addresses a few words to those present, reminding the members of
the family of what the Sacred Heart expects from families which have acknowledged Him as King;
recalling the magnificent promises of the Sacred Heart; urging the family to live its Enthronement, and
frequently to renew the act of consecration which it is about to make.
6. All kneel, while the priest recites the official ACT OF CONSECRATION of the family to the Sacred
Heart.

ACT OF CONSECRATION OF
THE FAMILY TO THE SACRED HEART

(Recited by the Priest and the father/mother)

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, Who didst make known to St. Margaret Mary Thine ardent desire to reign
over Christian families, behold us assembled here today to proclaim Thine absolute dominion of our
Home. Henceforth we purpose to lead a life like unto Thine so that amongst us may flourish the virtues
for which Thou didst promise peace on earth, and for this end we will banish from our midst the spirit of
the world which Thou dost abhor so much. Thou wilt reign over our understanding by the simplicity of
our faith. Thou wilt reign over our hearts by an ardent love for Thee; and may the flame of this love be
ever kept burning in our hearts by the frequent reception of the Holy Eucharist. Deign, O Divine Heart,
to preside over our meetings, to bless our undertakings both spiritual and temporal, to banish all worry
and care, to sanctify our joys and soothe our sorrows. If any of us should ever have the misfortune to
grieve Thy Sacred Heart, remind him of Thy goodness and mercy towards the repentant sinner. Lastly
when the hour of separation will sound and death will plunge our home into mourning, then shall we all
and every one of us be resigned to Thy eternal decrees, and seek consolation in the thought that we shall
all one day be reunited in heaven, where we shall sing the praises and blessings of Thy Sacred Heart for
all eternity. May the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the glorious Patriarch St. Joseph offer Thee this our
Consecration and remind us of the same all the days of our life. Glory to the Divine Heart of Jesus, our
king and our Father!
7. The priest here asks those present to say with him ONE OUR FATHER AND HAIL MARY for all the
absent members, both living and dead.
8. All recite with the priest the following:
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Glory be to Thee, * O Sacred Heart of Jesus, * for the infinite mercy * Thou hast bestowed * upon the
privileged members * of this family. * Thou hast chosen it * from thousands of others, * as a recipient of
Thy love * and a sanctuary of reparation * wherein Thy most loving Heart * shall find consolation * for
the ingratitude of men. * How great, O Lord Jesus, * is the confusion * of this portion of Thy faithful
flock * as we accept the unmerited honour * of seeing Thee preside over our family! * Silently we adore
Thee, * overjoyed to see Thee sharing * under the same roof * the toils, cares and joys * of Thy
innocent children! * It is true * we are not worthy * that Thou shouldst enter our humble abode, * but
Thou hast already reassured us, when Thou didst reveal Thy Sacred Heart to us, · teaching us to find in
the wound of Thy Sacred Side * the source of grace and life everlasting. * In this loving and trusting
spirit * we give ourselves to Thee, * Thou Who art unchanging Life. * Remain with us, Most Sacred
Heart, * for we feel an irresistible desire * to love Thee and make Thee loved. May our home be for
Thee * a haven as sweet as that of Bethany, * where Thou canst find rest * in the midst of loving friends,
* who like Mary * have chosen the better part * in the loving intimacy of Thy Heart! * May this home
be for Thee, * O beloved Saviour, * a humble but hospitable refuge * during the exile * imposed on
Thee by Thine enemies.

Come, then Lord Jesus, come, * for here as at Nazareth, * we have a tender love * for the Virgin Mary
* Thy sweet Mother * Whom Thou has given us to be our Mother. * Come, * to fill with Thy sweet
presence * the vacancies * which misfortune and death * have wrought in our midst.

O most faithful Friend, * hadst Thou been here * in the midst of sorrow, * our tears would have been
less bitter; * the comforting balm of peace * would then have soothed these hidden wounds, * which are
known to Thee alone. * Come, for even now perhaps, * there is drawing near for us * the twilight of
tribulation, * and the decline of the passing days * of our youth and our illusions. * Stay with us, * for
already it is late, * and a perverted world * seeks to envelop us * in the darkness of its denials * while
we wish to adhere to Thee * Who alone art the Way * the Truth * and the Life. * Repeat for us those
words * Thou didst utter of old * "This day I must abide in this home."

Yes, dear Lord, * take up Thy abode with us, * so that we may live in Thy love * and in Thy presence, *
we who proclaim Thee as our King * and wish no other: * May Thy triumphant Heart, O Jesus, * be
forever loved, * blessed, * and glorified * in this home! * Thy Kingdom Come! Amen.

9. As an act of homage to the Immaculate Heart of Mary all stand and recite the HAIL HOLY QUEEN.
10. EJACULATIONS:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us! (3 times)
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us.
St. Joseph, Pray for us.
St. Margaret Mary, Pray for us.
(ALL) Glory to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus forever and ever! Amen.
11. The priest gives his blessing:
Benedictio Dei omnipotentis, Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti, descendat super vos et maneat semper.
Amen. (May the blessing of Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, descend upon you and remain
forever. Amen.)
12. Then the members of the family and the priest sign the Certificate of the Enthronement, which
should be framed and hung near the picture of the Sacred Heart or kept in the family archives. At this
point a hymn to the Sacred Heart may be sung.
13. The Priest, or the father, announces the following indulgences to be gained by the members of the
family (Raccolta 1943).
1. An indulgence of 7 years for all the members of the family who, at least contrite of heart assist at the ceremony of the
Enthronement in their home.
2. An indulgence of 3 years, once a year, on the day they renew the official act of consecration before the likeness of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus.

the meditation.
10.Practice devotion to the Holy Ghost. Recite the "Rosary of the Holy Ghost".

RENEWAL OF THE CONSECRATION

OF THE FAMILY TO THE SACRED HEART

(Short form to be recited after the daily Rosary)

Most sweet Jesus, humbly kneeling at Thy feet, we renew the consecration of our family to Thy Divine
Heart. Be Thou our King forever. In Thee we have full and entire confidence. May Thy spirit penetrate
our thoughts, our desires, our words and our deeds. Bless our undertakings, share in our joys, in our
trials and in our labours. Grant us to know Thee better, to love Thee more, and to serve Thee without
faltering.
By the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Peace, set up Thy kingdom in our country. Enter
closely into the midst of our families and make them Thine own through the solemn enthronement of
Thy Heart, so that soon one cry may resound from home to home : « May the triumphant Heart of Jesus
be everywhere loved, blessed and glorified forever ! » Honour and glory to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus
and Mary. Sacred Heart of Jesus protect our family. Amen.

BENEDICTION OF THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT.

O SALUTARIS HOSTIA
Salutaris Hostia,
Quae coeli pandis ostium,
Bella premunt hostilia
Da robur, fer auxilium.
Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna gloria,
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria.
Amen.

ACT OF REPARATION TO THE SACRED HEART

O Most amiable and adorable Heart of Jesus, centre of all hearts, glowing with charity,
and inflamed with zeal for the interests of Thy Father and the salvation of mankind ! O
Heart, ever sensible of our misery, and ever ready to redress our evils; the real victim of
love in the Holy Eucharist, and a propitiatory sacrifice for sin on the altar of the cross.
Since the generality of Christians make no other return for these Thy mercies, than
contempt of Thy favours, forgetfulness of their obligations, and ingratitude to Thee, the
best of benefactors, is it not just, that we, Thy servants, penetrated with a deep sense of
such indignities, should, as far as is in our power, enter on a due and satisfactory
reparation of honour to Thy most sacred Majesty?
Humbled, therefore, in mind before heaven and earth, we solemnly declare our sincere
detestation and abhorrence of such conduct. Inexpressible we know was the bitterness
with which the multitude of our sins overwhelmed Thy tender Heart; insufferable the
weight of our iniquities, which pressed Thy face to the earth in the Garden of Olives; and
insurmountable Thy anguish, when, expiring with love, grief, and agony on Mount
Calvary, in Thy last breath Thou wouldst reclaim sinners to their duty and repentance.
This we know, O dear Redeemer, and would most willingly redress these Thy sufferings
by our own, or share with Thee in Thine.
O merciful Jesus, ever present on our altars, and with a heart open to receive all who
labour and are burdened ! O adorable Heart of Jesus! source of true contrition! Impart
to our hearts the true spirit of penance, and to our eyes a fountain of tears, that we may
bewail our sins and those of the world. Pardon, Divine Jesus! all the injuries,
reproaches, and outrages offered to Thee through the course of Thy holy life and bitter
passion. Pardon all the impieties, irreverences, and sacrileges which have been
committed against Thee in the Sacrament of the Eucharist from its institution.
Graciously receive the small tribute of our sincere repentance as an agreeable offering in
Thy sight, and in requital for the benefits we daily receive from the altar, where Thou art a
living and continual sacrifice, and in union with that bloody holocaust Thou didst present
to Thy eternal Father on the Cross. Divine Jesus! give Thy blessing to the ardent desire
we now entertain, and the holy resolution we have taken of ever loving and adoring Thee
after a proper manner in the Sacrament of Love, the Eucharist; thus to repair by a true
conversion of heart, and a becoming zeal for Thy glory our past negligence and infidelity.
Be Thou, O adorable Heart, who knowest the clay of which we are formed, be Thou our
Mediator with Thy Heavenly Father, Whom we have so grievously offended; strengthen
our weakness, confirm our resolution, and with Thy charity, humility, meekness, and
patience, cover the multitude of our iniquities! be Thou our support, our refuge, and our
strength, that nothing henceforth in life or death may separate us from Thee. Amen.
