curing. and to Arison's credit. their strengths rvere largely
complementarv to those of the amplifier. majoring on good transient
attack, a clean, precise bass. verv good focus and soundstii_{ing and .
intriguingl_v. a surprisinglv robust and enjoyable bass. There was some
roughness and coloration. Iencling percussion a rather'dirty'sounci for
example. perhaps associated u,ith ditfraction el'fects ancllol thc

I'm not inclinecl to clig too dccp because the overull character of this
component is plainly right. 1'he speakers have arr outg,rinr
positiveness and inrrnaculate sense ol tinting that contrasts with the
politeness that often gets confused fol good hehaviour at this price.
The civilised nature of the amplifier saves the speakers from their orvn
worst qualitres and this far at least the outcome is more than the sum
of the individual parts. and the system is well matched. But there \\,as
no doubt in mv mind that this component rvas keeping the lid on the
