MAINTENANCE MANUAL
EFFECTIVITY: ALL
1. General
A. This section gives the procedures to do the functional test of the nacelle pressure-regulating
shutoff-valves and the leak test of its installation.
B. There are two nacelle pressure-regulating shutoff-valves installed on the aircraft, one on the left
side and one on the right side.
D. The abbreviations and acronyms used in this section are given in the sequence below:

(1) This task gives the procedure to do the functional test of the NAPRSOV. The procedure is
the same for the LH and RH sides of the aircraft.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE CONDITION BEFORE YOU DO THE
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/
OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance of the powerplant (AMM
TASK 71-00-00-910-801-A/200).

(3) Connect the AC power supply to the aircraft (AMM TASK 24-42-02-860-801-A/200).
(4) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
switches to the unlatched (off) position (a striped bar comes into view):
• BLEED 1
• BLEED 2
• BLEED APU
(5) Put a DO NOT OPERATE tag on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.
(6) Make sure that the engines (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-806-A/200) and APU (AMM
TASK 49-10-00-910-802-A/200) are not in operation.
(7) Make sure that the slat/flap lever is in the zero-degree position and put a DO NOT
OPERATE tag on it.

(b) Use GSE 060 to open the access door 415AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 425AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).

(10) To do the test with the CMC not in operation, remove the access panels in the next
steps, as applicable:
(12) To get access to the RH torque motor controller remove these access panels, as
applicable:
• 429SR (AMM TASK 54-50-22-000-801-A/400)

(13) If the CMC is not in operation disconnect the external AC power supply from the
aircraft (AMM TASK 24-42-02-860-802-A/200).

(14) If the CMC is operational, go to SUBTASK 710-011-A.
(2) Disconnect the pressure-supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(3) Use an adapter (GSE 279) (4) to connect the regulator (GSE 057) (3) to the pressure-
supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(4) Set the regulator (GSE 057) (3) pressure to 20 psi. Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
• The locking crank must stay in the closed position. Refer to Figure 501.
(a) On the CMC, use the sequence that follows to do the BLEED 1 TM
CONTROLLER IBIT CH A or BLEED 1 TM CONTROLLER IBIT CH B (AMM
TASK 45-45-00-970-805-A/200):
NOTE: To transfer AMS channel in control, refer to (AMM TASK
21-00-00-910-801-A/200)
• 36 - PNEUMATIC
• 36 - PNEUMATIC
(7) Set the regulator (GSE 057) (3) pressure to 0 psi. Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2. Go to
SUBTASK 940-019-A.

(8) If the CMC is not in operation, do the procedure that follows:
(9) Disconnect the pressure-supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(10) Use an adapter (GSE 279) (4) to connect the regulator (GSE 057) (3) to the pressure-
supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(12) Connect the extension (GSE 279) (1) to the torque motor controller.
(13) Connect a variable DC power supply to pins C (+) and D (−) of the extension (GSE
279) (1).
(14) Set the regulator (GSE 057) (3) pressure to 20 psi. Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
• The locking crank must stay in the closed position. Refer to Figure 501.
(16) Set the regulator (GSE 057) (3) pressure to 0 psi. Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2. Go to
SUBTASK 940-020-A.
H. Job Close-Up
SUBTASK 940-020-A
(1) If you did the test with the CMC not in operation, do as follows:
(a) Disconnect the variable DC power supply from the extension (GSE 279) (1).
Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 1.
(b) Disconnect the extension (GSE 279) (1) from the torque motor controller. Refer to
Figure 502, Sheet 1.
(c) Remove the ESD protective cap from the electrical connector (2) and connect it
to the torque motor controller. Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 1.
(d) Disconnect the adapter (GSE 279) (4) from the pressure-supply servo line (5).
Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(e) Apply a thin layer of one of the approved lubricants on the threads of the
pressure-supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(f) Install the pressure-supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(g) Use a torque wrench to torque the pressure-supply servo line (5) to 17.6 -
20.8N.m (156 - 184 lb.in). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.

(2) If you did the test with the CMC in operation, do as follows:
(a) Disconnect the adapter (GSE 279) (4) from the pressure-supply servo line (5).
Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(b) Apply a thin layer of one of the approved lubricants on the threads of the
pressure-supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(c) Install the pressure-supply servo line (5). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.
(d) Use a torque wrench to torque the pressure-supply servo line (5) to 17.6 -
20.8N.m (156 - 184 lb.in). Refer to Figure 502, Sheet 2.

CAUTION: EXAMINE ALL THE WORK AREAS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU REMOVED ALL
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT AFTER YOU COMPLETED THE WORK. IF YOU DO NOT

(1) This task gives the procedure to do the leak test after the installation of the nacelle pressure-
regulating shutoff-valves, with the engine air bleed.
(2) The nacelle pressure-regulating shutoff-valves are installed in the LH and RH bleed ducts on
the outboard side of the engines.

E. Job Set-Up
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE CONDITION BEFORE YOU DO THE
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/
OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE DUCTS OR COMPONENTS OF THE AIR BLEED SYSTEM
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SYSTEM STOPS ITS OPERATION. THE HIGH AIR
TEMPERATURE CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(2) Do the procedure to make the aircraft safe for maintenance of the powerplant (AMM
TASK 71-00-00-910-801-A/200).

(3) Connect the external AC power supply to the aircraft (AMM TASK 24-42-02-860-801-
A/200).
NOTE: Make sure that the external power supply is at a safe distance from the
engines.
(4) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
switches to the unlatched (off) position (a striped bar comes into view):
• BLEED 1
• BLEED 2
• BLEED APU
• XBLEED
(5) Put a DO NOT OPERATE tag on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.
(6) Make sure that the engines (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-806-A/200) and the APU (AMM
TASK 49-10-00-910-802-A/200) are not in operation.
(7) Make sure that the slat/flap lever is at the zero-degree position and put a DO NOT
OPERATE tag on it.

WARNING: FOLLOW THE CORRECT SEQUENCE WHEN YOU DO THE SPECIFIED TASKS
TO OPEN THE THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS
INSTRUCTION, INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN
OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LEADING EDGE SLATS ARE RETRACTED AND NOT IN
OPERATION BEFORE YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER. WHEN THE
THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN, THE EXTENDED LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN HIT
IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE SLAT LEADING
EDGE AND THRUST REVERSER CAN OCCUR.
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 415AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 425AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(b) Make a tight foil wrap on the connection with your hands.
NOTE: Be careful not to cause damage to the foil wrap.
NOTE: • You must install one lockwire on each side of the connection.

(13) Remove the DO NOT OPERATE tag from the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.
F. Nacelle Pressure-Regulating Shutoff-Valves - Leak Test
SUBTASK 710-012-A
(1) Do the operational test of the engine pneumatic bleed-system (AMM TASK
36-11-00-710-801-A/500).
SUBTASK 860-016-A
(2) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
switches to the unlatched (off) position (a striped bar comes into view):
• BLEED 1
• BLEED 2
• BLEED APU
• XBLEED
(3) Put a DO NOT OPERATE tag on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.
(4) Make sure that the engines (AMM TASK 71-00-01-910-806-A/200) and the APU (AMM
TASK 49-10-00-910-802-A/200) are not in operation.

WARNING: FOLLOW THE CORRECT SEQUENCE WHEN YOU DO THE SPECIFIED TASKS
TO OPEN THE THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS
INSTRUCTION, INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN
OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LEADING EDGE SLATS ARE RETRACTED AND NOT IN
OPERATION BEFORE YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER. WHEN THE
THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN, THE EXTENDED LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN HIT
IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE SLAT LEADING
EDGE AND THRUST REVERSER CAN OCCUR.
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 415AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 425AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(7) Do a visual inspection of the foil wraps (1) for signs of damage, dilation and/or stretch.
When there is a leakage, the foil wrap usually inflates and rips. In this case, you must
do a check for installation (torque values and condition of the seals, clamps, and
flanges) and do the leak test again.
G. Job Close-Up
SUBTASK 940-024-A (Figure 503)
CAUTION: EXAMINE ALL THE WORK AREAS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU REMOVED
ALL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT AFTER YOU COMPLETED THE WORK. IF
YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PROCEDURE, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN
OCCUR.
(2) Remove and discard the aluminum foil and the lockwires.

(5) Remove the DO NOT OPERATE tag from the slat/flap lever.
(6) Remove the DO NOT OPERATE tag from the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.
(7) Disconnect the external AC power supply from the aircraft (AMM TASK
24-42-02-860-802-A/200).

(1) This task gives the alternative procedure to do the leak test after the installation of the
nacelle pressure-regulating shutoff-valves, with APU air bleed.
(2) You must not do this test on the two engines at the same time. You also must not do the
leak test with APU air bleed source if the opposite bleed system is already on the MEL,
since the newly installed valve is not functionally tested on the aircraft.
(3) The nacelle pressure-regulating shutoff-valves are installed in the LH and RH bleed ducts on
the outboard side of the engines.

IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE SLAT LEADING
EDGE AND THRUST REVERSER CAN OCCUR.
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 415AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 425AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(c) Install the locking screw (2) on the locked position (REF.) threaded hole.
(d) Tighten the locking screw (2) until it touches the actuator housing boss.
NOTE: An increase in the applied torque is an indication of this point.
NOTE: The foil must cover all the connection section and correctly attach to the
bleed duct (REF.).
(b) Make a tight foil wrap on the connection with your hands.
NOTE: Be careful not to cause damage to the foil wrap.
NOTE: • You must install one lockwire on each side of the connection.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT AFTER YOU COMPLETED THE WORK. IF YOU DO NOT

(13) Remove the DO NOT OPERATE tag from the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.
F. Nacelle Pressure-Regulating Shutoff-Valves - Leak Test with APU Air Bleed
SUBTASK 860-022-A
(1) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set these
switches as follows:
• PACK 1 OFF (unlatched)
WARNING: USE EAR PROTECTION DURING THE APU OPERATION. VERY HIGH
NOISES CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOUR EARS.
(2) Start the APU (AMM TASK 49-00-00-910-801-A/200).
(3) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the BLEED
APU switch to the latched (auto) position (a striped bar goes out of view).
NOTE: Wait some minutes to stabilize the pressure.

(4) On the overhead panel, on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel, set the BLEED
APU switch to the unlatched (off) position (a striped bar comes into view).
(6) Put the DO NOT OPERATE tag on the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.

WARNING: FOLLOW THE CORRECT SEQUENCE WHEN YOU DO THE SPECIFIED TASKS
TO OPEN THE THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS

OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LEADING EDGE SLATS ARE RETRACTED AND NOT IN
OPERATION BEFORE YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER. WHEN THE
THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN, THE EXTENDED LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN HIT
IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE SLAT LEADING
EDGE AND THRUST REVERSER CAN OCCUR.
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 415AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(b) Use GSE 060 to open access door 425AL (AMM TASK 78-30-01-910-801-A/
200).
(9) Do a visual inspection of the foil wraps (1) for signs of damage, dilation and/or stretch.
When there is a leakage, the foil wrap usually inflates and rips. In this case, you must
do a check of the installation (torque values and condition of the seals, clamps, and
flanges) and do the leak test again.
G. Job Close-Up
SUBTASK 940-025-A (Figure 504)
CAUTION: EXAMINE ALL THE WORK AREAS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU REMOVED
ALL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT AFTER YOU COMPLETED THE WORK. IF
YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PROCEDURE, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN
OCCUR.
(2) Remove and discard the aluminum foil and the lockwires.
SUBTASK 440-002-A
(3) To unlock the NAPRSOV valve from the opened position, do as follows:
(a) Remove the locking screw (1) from the locked position (REF.) threaded hole.
(b) Make sure that the valve come back to the closed position.
NOTE: The locking crank (2) has a hexagonal head that you can put a wrench
on it and turn the valve.
(c) Install and tighten the locking screw (1) in the normal position (REF.) threaded
hole.

(6) Remove the DO NOT OPERATE tag from the slat/flap lever.
(7) Remove the DO NOT OPERATE tag from the AIR COND/PNEUMATIC control panel.
(8) Disconnect the external AC power supply from the aircraft (AMM TASK
24-42-02-860-802-A/200).
