SUBTASK 340-001-A
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE INSULATION BLANKET. THE
PNEUMATIC DUCTS CAN BE HOT. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE INSULATION
BLANKET CORRECTLY, INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.

(1) Repair the ducts as follows:

(a) Remove the damaged part of the thermal insulation.

(b) Apply a layer of isolation blanket KAOWOOL-6-16MM to the section that you will
repair.

(c) Wind tape around the ceramic fiber insulation on the duct, as follows:

• On the curved parts, use narrow adhesive tape 5413-19MM.

NOTE: Make sure that each new turn of the tape makes an overlap on the
previous one. The tape must cover all the repaired section and correctly
attach the fiber insulation to the duct.

(d) Cut the tape.

(e) To do the finishing of the repair at the tube end, do these steps as in Figure 201,
Sheet 2:

1 Use narrow adhesive tape 5413-19MM.

2 Start to apply the tape two turns from the tube end.

3 Do one complete turn parallel to the end of the insulation fiber.

4 Continue to apply the tape in the direction of the tube end.

5 When you get to the end of the insulation fiber cover it with the tape and do
two complete turns over the metal surface.

6 To complete the repair, apply two turns of the tape in the opposite direction
on the insulation fiber.
