The financial year 2017-18 bears a memory of a glorious period for Social Development
Service achieving a lot from the focused interventions both in shape of qualitative & quantitative.
During this year the efforts were mainly target towards understanding the of the tribal
people in terms of effectives implementation of the activities in their respective areas.
1. ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME:-

National Environment Awareness Campaign(NEAC) was organized at Penthakata in puri town.A
one day workshop was also organized where Women members of self help groups,Daily
wagers,school students patispated.The programee has consisted both awareness and action plan
Components.
Environmental problems in Orissa stem from the negative efforts of the process of
development and condition of poverty properly planned developmental projects are usually
environmentally destructive. Apart from the very technical in look the versatility of the approach can
be met through rapid afforstation and plantation drives. So understanding this concept SDS had
organized seminars on “Environment problems in Modern Society” where many intellectuals from
different NGOs and other justification were participated . It has also celebrated so many times Vana
mahotshab week for the purpose to bring awareness among people about the importance of tree and
forest.
2. BOOK FAIR PROGRAMME:-

Annual book fair was organized on Biraharekrushnapur High School ,Biraharekrushnapur.More
than eight hundred students & teachers were attained in that programme.Eassy,song,art,odishi &
modern dance competition was organized by our organization.It was organized for three days.Fifty
numbers of publishers & book sellers were joined in our book fair programme with their valuable
books.At last all publisher & seller were satisfied with us.
3. CREACHE PROGRAMME:-
SDS has managing a Rajib Gandhi National Creche Scheme at Bhudan Nagar Slum of Puri
District with the support of State Social Welfare Board,Odisha. SDS has taken care of 25 nos of
children for their education, nutrition and health.
4. Revised National Tuberculosis control programme;

SDS carried out a massive awareness programme on prevention and control of Tuberculosis in
association with puri district TB contol cell.Mr Surendra Sethi, STS and our health volunteers team
actively partiapated in the prgramme.During the campaign 24 new TB patients detected.6000 of
reflects are distributed by our organization.
5. LIBRARY&INFORMATION PROGRAMME:
SDS library & information centre is basically local class library equipped children books, science,
comics, novels, adventures stories, spiritual books and other curricular books for all ages and
standards sponsored by Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata and also purchased by
our funds.The centre at present holds a stock of above 3156 books and other reading
meterials.12nos of daily paper and magazine are available in our library. Readers are
regurarly(except Tuesday)coming to read in our library in proper time.
6. HIV/AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAMME:-
AIDS are going to be an emerging challenge for the country in coming years. Looking in to the
challenge we organized HIV / AIDS awareness programmes to cerate awareness among the people of
our working area. In this process we organized awareness meetings, rally for AIDS awareness and
culture programmes on celebration of World AIDS Day.
7. CONSUMER AWARENESS PROGRAMME:-

With the spread of consumerism to rural areas consumers should be aware with their rights and
duties. More often the consumers do not bother to demand his right from the sellers or service
providers. Public participation and awareness among consumer was to be looked upon to make the
Consumer Moment strong. On the occasion of consumer‟s Day an awareness meeting about
consumer Protection Act was held in 45 villages ,which covered five blocks of puri district out of 11
blocks in puri district.Puri Sadar, Gop, Kakatpur, Brahmagiri and Satyabadi blocks are covered in
puri district. To educate and aware the village people(consumer) about the rights of Consumer
Act,we hold the meeting among 100 numbers of representatives from NGOs, schools, ward-members
and from general public . They participate in the awareness meeting which continue upto 30 days in
five blocks.In this programme several district level officials and local lawyers took part and explained
to the people on the rights of the consumer and the protection available in case of violation of
consumer rights.
8. ANIMAL WELFARE:-
During the year 2017-18, the SDS has taken the endeavour to make the animal welfare
movement broad based by creating a social awakening to the philosophy of bio-diversity,
preservation and recognitions of rights of animals to life, liberty and relationship with nature.
Animal welfare fortnight was celebrated from 14th to 30th January and the world Day for
Animals was also observed on 4th October. During the period 15 public meeting and rally movements
were held.
9. AGRI CULTURE PROGRAMME:-

Majority of the rural population do agriculture. Growing population, traditional agricultureal
practice, low yield, pressure as Forum Land and poverty aggregate their condition day by day putting
the rural economy object. To mitigate such problems relating to Agriculture production SDS in
actively engaged in improving the agricultural economy of the mind community through its various
programmes. SDS has formed twenty farmers club in Gop & Puri sadar Block through NABARD.
10. CULTURAL PROGRAMME:-

Cultural in the real reflection of a society. The society cannot develop without cultural Events.
So SDS organized the cultural programme at Garh Bangar, Bhua, Uchhapur, Ganeswarpur,Chadhei
Gao with 150 nos. of village of Gop, Kakatpur & Bramhagiri Block in Puri District. There were 900
nos. of Youth participated of this programmes. The first, second, third, fourth & fiftth position of
participated received the gift from the guests. This programme much there was aware to rural people
about HIV/AIDS, , Polio,Meleria, Cancer ,T.B,Uses of Latrine & Enviornment. The cultural
programme was arranged with the support of SHGs, PRI Members and community leaders, School
students dance competition, CBOs, NGOs and different cultural units. The resource persons from
different educational institutions and cultural groups were invited to support the programme.
11. PLANTATION PROGRAMME:-
SDS about three thousand of plants were planted by help support of students with teachers &
local people the violation in different villages & road sides of Puri Sadar,Gop,Brahmagiri Block. SDS
also conducted a number of meetings in different villages of Gop,Brahmagiri&Puri sadar Block of
Puri district and motivated people for plantation on this own field and in village common land.SDS
has distributing seedling to other grass-root organigation and villagers for plantation on waste lands
and community lands.
12. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:-

Women constitute almost half of the humanity but they are enjoying a considerable lower
status in the society. SDS has above 50 nos. SHGs formation, promotion and linkage of SHGs
(SHPI) at kakatpur & Bramhagiri Block at Puri district through grant assistance by NABARD. SDS
implemented the strategies evolved for the empowerment and advancement of women and ensure
there in active participation in all spheres i. e. on economic, social, cultural,Spiritual and political
decision making to achieve the above specific aim. SDS has associated with the community and have
formed SHGs among the women. We have also organized awareness camps, cultural programmes,
vocational training,Cottage Industry and other programmes for empowerment of women.
13. SPORTS PROGRAMME:-

Rural children and growth have sporting efficiency like these staying in urban areas. But they
do not get any chance and facility to show their in effacing in this line. To help them in this live a
view to make them more efficient and career based SDS has its effort every year. Unlike every year a
different sports tournament was organized in the month of December among 15teams of Brahmagiri
& Gop block. We want to bring social cohesion and a sense of belongingness among the youth of the
area.
14. VOCATIONAL TRAINING:

The training programme on Sambalpuri Hand Bag making was started on14-08-2017 at Puri
sadar Block.Above 30nos women from mature SHG members obtained Sambalpuri hand bag
training and provided marketing and entreprenueurship skill to generate income to their families
through micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) sponsored by NABARD.
SDS has conducted a number of Vocational Training in Delang, Satyabadi, Kanas & Brahmagiri
Block of Puri distict with a view to develop the socially and economically disadvantaged demographic
section for growth of capacity building. The appliqué trading programme organized it Mangalpur of
pipil Block. There were 40 rural women participated of this trading programme in duration of one
year.
Thus the coir training programmes conducted at Alagun of satyabadi Block . There were 60
rural women participated of this trading programme in duration of one year.Sea shell training
programme conducted at puri&konark,66nos of women&men are participant training and provided
marketing and entreprenueurship skill to generate income.
sThere were 30 youths participated in Handicraft Training at Sirei of Kanas Block and there
were 40 youths participated in mushroom training at Bauribasta of Brahmagiri Block .
Lastly the tailoring training programme was conducted at Berboi Bazar of Delang Block. There
were 40 rural girls participated in six months of this trading programme.
15. YOGA & NATUROPATHY:-

With a view to view literate and promote the Yoga Education for creating a healthy interaction
and balance in various aspects of human personality the organization has been conducting the Yoga
Education / Training in Gop Block same 3 years. During 2010-2012 total 700 numbers of teachers/
students / SHG members / Aganwadi worker have taken the Yoga training facilities through the
SDS.
16. HEALTH PROGRAMME:-
Health is Wealth . According W.H.O, human health is not confined merely the physical fitness,
but it is the social, economic, intellectual & spiritual fitness of human mind which makes him fully
healthy. In the operational area of the SDS none of the above mentioned criteria fits in the case of
makes. Neither they physically fit nor in any manner.
So SDS considered their aspects has takes more and more programmes based on health
immunization . Again the operational area of organization is a cyclone affected area. Considering this
it has organized many health camps in many rural villages where the patients were availed from
treatment facilities and also free medicine were supplied to the identified patients.
17. SANITATION PROGRAMMES :

SDS has constructed the Indivisual BPL Latrines(IHL)& School Latrines & Urinals in
Gop,Brahmgiri,Krushna Prasad,Puri Sadar Block with the District Rural Water & Sanitation
Mission, Puri the beneficiaries were satisfied for use the latrine .
SDS with help of team with Volunteers, cleaned the local needs which were blocked by the
uprooted trees, electro poles etc and after clearing of these roads, villager were cleaned of these
roads, villager were cleaned with the use of bleaching of phenyle. The entire drinking water source
lane been treated with bleaching & chlorine tablets. SDS prepared the DUSTBIN in village for
Sanitation by the co-ordination with G.K.S.& NRHM.
18. ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMME:-

Education is one of the prime elements to bring social change and progress in the society. In
this endeavor SDS has established some night schools at different villages of Gop Block of Puri
District to provide Adult Education to the rural illiterate women and man. At present the
organization is more focused to achievement for educate to rural illiterate women and man which
known about the every matter of their Self Help Group. After received the Adult Education the rural
women and man were know about read and write which developed of this SHG.
19. OLDAGE WELFARE PROGRAMME:-

SDS organized the old age welfare programme at Gop of PuriDistrict. There were 200 nos of old
man participated in this programme.Discussing about many problem of old age people.As possible as
slove their problem by SDS.
20. SCIENCE & BIOTECHNOLOGY:-

Science & Biotechnology is the development way to develop the native building. The rural
people aware about the science & Biotechnology.
SDS organized Seminar & Science competition, science exhibition in different school of
Nimapada Block of Puri District . They knew about Science & Biotechnology.
21. SC.ST & OBC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME:-

There groups are more exploited and backward groups in the society. They are always for from
the main stream of development. It is because of their literacy ignorance and blind belief of. Keeping
then in mind the SDS had identified the SC.ST & OBC community of Puri District which in low and
the work at base line survey has been taken up. Basing on the resulted of the survey of keeping in
view the felt need of the people,programme will be taken up for integrated development of the
minority groups. The formalities of SHG, women groups has already been started to motivate and
aware the rural people about health education through regular awareness camps, workshops,
seminars, meetings, exhibitions and publicity. The major attending of parting of parting health
education is an reproductive child health Polio, leprosy, TB, Aids concern melons and other killer
diseases.
22. CHILD WELFARE PROGRAMME:-

To day child is the future of tomorrow child is develop the nation. So SDS has conducted
different programme & Aware against childlabour to rural children primary school of Gop Block of
Puri District. After participated the different competition, the change & develop the mind of children.
Then the children where in poor family, the organization do structured the schools books, pen, paper
to the poor children.
23. SHG PROMOTION PROGRAMME:-

Micro Finance is recognized and accepted as one of the new development paradigms for
alleviating poverty through social and economic empowerment of poor with especial emphasis on
women empowerment. It is an institutional mechanism of providing credit support along with other
complementary support such as training business opportunity guidance, skill up gradation and
enabling them to take up economic activities.
Our organization have sincerely associated with community and have organized the poor group i.
e. SHGs for their sustainable empowerment. In this preprocess we have formed 200 nos of groups
covering 500 poor families of the district . To build up their capacity 40 nos of training programme
were conducted for the SHGs leaders and members Sponsered by NABARD.
24. ROAD SEFTY PROGRAMME:-

Under the road safety awerness programme, the organisition has been organised cultural
activities/events promoting road safety, such as puppet show / plays in different school‟s , collage‟s
& street‟s in puri dist. since 2004. Good Samaritans are gives theirs imp. Idea about road seffty like
Don‟t over speed, Don‟t drink, Drive Follow lane discipline, Be alert on road , Helmet usage &Seat
belt usage etc. Environment around the road e.g. stop of other vehicles, cycles, Rickshaw, school
children, cat , sheep, goat or dog being run across the road. Organisation of camps for vision
testing/distribution of spectacles for the drivers of commercial vehicles. Publicity campaign on road
safety. Sponsoring / financing of publication of popular literature on road safety. Organizing quiz
competitions , essay competitions, painting competitions, for school / college students.

CONCLUSION
While presenting the annual report I have great satisfaction seeing the process that we have
been able to achieve on various fields through from the intention of the organization. The SDS has

24. ANTI DRUGS PROGRAMME:-

Now-a–days the world in suffering from a bad whether as most of its in habitants are addicted to
dread findings and killed liquors. There is not one day without media reports on drugs on liquor
based massacre. Keeping it is in view the SDS in trying to its level best to create an atmosphere of
fearless society which will be free from the fear of drugs or liquor addiction. For this purpose on to
abolish the dolorous and toxic condition from the society the organization has performed many street
plays in different near by rural areas of the organization to aware the people by explaining the evil
effects of drugs on liquor abuse. This programme has created a very good impact among the people
and strict over the situation and the progress.

ACTVITIES DURING THE YEAR 2015-16
Being quite eventful the year 2015-16 has supported Social Development Service to grab
quite some experiences and experiments through its high volume of welfare actives. During the year
SDS has been able to achieve a sound progress in different interventions through the cooperation
participation and contribution bestowed by the community people.
During this year the efforts were mainly target towards understanding the of the tribal people
in terms of effectives implementation of the activities in their respective areas.
In stepping out on the road ahead SDS has also availed a good response from the people and
build a healthy rapport among he community through its high level propaganda of awareness and
dedicated interventions. Besides the civil society has also identified SDS as a front-line organization
for undertaking various welfare activities which is reflected below:

Brahmgiri, Krushna Prasad, Puri Sadar Block with the District Rural Water & Sanitation Mission,
Puri the beneficiaries were satisfied for use the latrine .
SDS with help of team with Volunteers, cleaned the local needs which were blocked by
the uprooted trees, electro poles etc and after clearing of these roads, villager were cleaned of these
CULTURAL PROGRAMME:-
Cultural in the real reflection of a society. The society cannot develop without cultural. So SDS
organized the cultural programme at GarhBangar, Bhua, Uchhapur, Ganeswarpur,ChadheiGao
village of Gop Block. There were 300nos of Youth participated of this programmes. The first,
second,third, fourth & fiftth position of participated received the gift from the guests. This
programme much there was aware to rural people about HIV/AIDS, Polio, Meleria, Cancer ,T.B, Uses
of Latrine &Enviornment.
PLANTATION PROGRAMME:-
SDS about three thousand of plants were planted by help support of students with teachers & local
people the violation in different villages & road sides of Puri Sadar, Gop, Brahmagiri Block. SDS also
conducted a number of meetings in different villages of Gop,Brahmagiri & Puri sadar Block of Puri
district and motivated people for plantation on this own field and in village common land. SDS has
distributing seedling to other grass-root organigation and villagers for plantation on waste lands and
community lands.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:-
status in the society. SDS implemented the strategies evolved for the empowerment and
advancement of women and ensure there in active participation in all spheres i. e. on economic,
social, cultural, Spiritual and political decision making to achieve the above specific aim.SDShas
associated with the community and have formed SHGs among the women. We have also organized
awareness camps, cultural programmes, vocational training, Cottage Industry and other
programmes for empowerment of women.
SPORTS PROGRAMME:-
Rural children and growth have sporting efficiency like these staying in urban areas. But
they do not get any chance and facility to show their in effacing in this line. To help them in this live
a view to make them more efficient and career based SGSSS has its effort every year. Unlike every
year a different sports tournament was organized in the month of December 2015 among 15teams of
Brahmagiri & Gop block. We want to bring social cohesion and a sense of belongingness among the
youth of the area.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING:
The training programme (MEDP) on SambalpuriHand Bag making was started on december at
Puri sadar Block. Above 60 nos women from mature SHG members obtained Sambalpuri hand bag
year.
rural women participated of this trading programme in duration of one year. Sea shell training
programme conducted at puri & konark, 66nos of women & men are participant training and
provided marketing and entreprenueurship skill to generate income.
There were 50 youths participated in Handicraft Training at Sirei of Kanas Block and there
ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMME:-
Education is one of the prime elements to bring social change and progress in the society. In
this endeavor SDS has established some night schools at different villages of Gop Block of Puri
District to provide Adult Education to the rural illiterate women and man. At present the
organization is more focused to achievement for educate to rural illiterate women and man which
known about the every matter of their Self Help Group. After received the Adult Education the rural
women and man were know about read and write which developed of this SHG.
CHILD WELFARE PROGRAMME:-

SHG PROMOTION PROGRAMME:-
Our organization have sincerely associated with community and have organized the poor
group i. e. SHGs for their sustainable empowerment. In this pre-process we have formed 100 nosof
groups covering 700 poor families of the district . To build up their capacity 10 nos of training
programme were conducted for the SHGs leaders and members.
OLDAGE WELFARE PROGRAMME:-
SDS organized the oldage welfare programme at Gop of Puri District. There were 200 nos of
old man participated in this programme.Discussing about many problem of old age people.As
possible as slove their problem by SDS.
SCIENCE & BIOTECHNOLOGY:-
Science & Bio-technology is the development way to develop the native building. The rural

view the felt need of the people, programme will be taken up for integrated development of the
diseases.
ANTIDRUGS PROGRAMME:-
Now-a–days the world in suffering from a bad whether as most of its in habitants are addicted
to dread findings and killed liquors. There is not one day without media reports on drugs on liquor
based massacre. Keeping it is in view the SDS in trying to its level best to create an atmosphere of
fearless society which will be free from the fear of drugs or liquor addiction. For this purpose on to
abolish the dolorous and toxic condition from the society the organization has performed many street
plays in different near by rural areas of the organization to aware the people by explaining the evil
effects of drugs on liquor abuse. This programme has created a very good impact among the people
and strict over the situation and the progress.
RIGHT TO INFORMATION PROGRAMME:-
Right to information programme in the main programme which the people are known about all
things. So SDS organized, a seminar „Right to Information‟ at Chandanpur, Sakhigopal, Nimapara,
Gop, Kakatpur of Puri District. There were 1500 people participated of this programme. This
programme aware to people who get all the information by right to Information from even
department.
HEALTH PROGRAMME:-
makes. Neither they physically fit nor in any manner. So SDS considered their aspects has takes
more and more programmes based on health immunization . Again the operational area of
organization is a cyclone affected area. Considering this it has organized many health camps in
many rural villages where the patients were availed from treatment facilities and also free medicine
were supplied to the identified patients.

AGRICULTURE PROGRAMME
The sustainable production of food is the first pillar of food secure livelihood. Evidence from
around the world is growing to support the view that adopting sustainable agriculture can only bring
done in Social Development Service operational area for development of agriculture.
Distribution of Agricultural Equipment :
For agricultural development, agricultural equipments like hammer, fauda, pikas, iron rod were
distributed to 15 families of Uchhupur, Garhvingura, Inchera, Tarana under Gop Block. These
instruments were provided with a double purpose of agricultural development and also to be used as
instrument during land reclamation.
Kitchen Garden :
This programme was initiated with double purpose. One hand it would development the
financial standard of people, to check malnutrition which is rampant in the area. Kitchen garden is
developed both in groups and individually. Our statistic shows that gradually kitchen garden is
accepted among people in Gop & Kakatpur Block.
Community Shop :
As the area is one of the most backward area marketing is a big problem for the people. People
face acute problem even to buy their day to day necessities like salt. So 23 community shops are
provided to following Mahila Committees with the help of NABARD. It is helping people in a great
extend not only the project area people, but also near by villages.

ANIMAL WELFARE:-
Animal welfare fortnight was celebrated from 14th to 30th January and the world Day for Animals was
also observed on 4th October. During the period 15 public meeting and rally movements were held.
CONSUMER AWARENESS PROGRAMME:-

Public participation and awareness among consumer was to be looked upon to make the
Consumer Moment strong. On the occasion of consumer‟s Day an awareness meeting on consumer
Protection Act was held at Baliput, Ganeswarpur, Chaitan, nimapara, Gop, kakatpur to educate and
aware the consumer who are often exploited 50 representatives from NGOs, schools, ward-members
and from general public participated in the awareness meeting .
Village- Roads are the basic infrasture for rural reconstruction and development . Necessary
efforts are being made by local authorities for the construction and maintance of few village roads
under different Government programmes.
CREACHE PROGRAMME:-
SDS has managing a Rajib GandhiNational Creche Scheme at Bhudan Nagar Slum of Puri
District with the support of State Social Welfare Board,Odisha. SDS shas taken care of 25 nos of

22.SOIL CONSERVATION PROGRAMME:-
The organization organized the soil Conservation programme at Ramchandi Temple at Gop
Block of Puri District and there were 250 peoples participated of this programme.
23.ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME:-
National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) was organized at Ramachandisahi slum

in puri town. A one day workshop was also organized where Women members of self help groups,

Five days book fair programme was held on GopinathPur High School, Gopinathpur, Puri.
Above one thousand students and teachers were benifited about knowledge from that book fair.
Attaining publisher and book seller were selling their books with proper amount of books. Spiritual &
Meditional plant books are selling from other category books. Periodically books, magazines, & noble
books also selling. Eassy, debate, song, odashi dance competition was held by our organization.
Above 10 nos of guests are attain our book fair.
SDS library & information centreisbasically local class library equipped children books,
science, comics, novels, adventures stories, spiritual books and other curricular books for
all ages and standards sponsored by Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata and
also purchased by our funds. The centre at present holds a stock of above 3156 books and
other reading meterials.12nos of daily paper and magazine are available in our library.
Readers are regurarly(except Tuesday)coming to read in our library in proper time.
26. Book Publishing & Restoration:

, Some Poem, Story & Philosophical thought‟s were publish by our organization, Whichare
unable to print & publish of valuable things to words society. We also restore & reprint our
some old books, which books are damaged above 50% of our library. At Present we have
some pandulipi .
CONCLUSION
While presenting the annual report I have great satisfaction seeing the process that we
have been able to achieve on various fields through from the intention of the organization.
The SDS has not been aided with major funds by Govt. Contribution and the major work
has been operated through the own resources of SDS. The support by my patrons,
executives, well wishers have contributed greatly to our success.
