VOWELS

REGRA 1:
A vogal tem som longo se a sílaba terminar em vogal.

REGRA 2:
A vogal tem som curto se a sílaba terminar em consoante.
• Pet, not, hug·ging, sil·ver, cat

REGRA 3:
A letra R muda o som da vogal.
• Her, bird, nurse, or, park
• Here, hire, cure, more, va·ry
• Mer·ry, mir·ror, hur·ry, sor·row, car·ry

REGRA 4:
Quando há vogais em seguida na mesma sílaba, geralmente só a primeira "fala o
seu nome".

Exceto os ditongos: Boy (oi/oy) , author (au/aw), south (ou/ow), foot (oo, u
curtos), too (oo, ou, u longos)

Vogais fracas mudam para "ə".
