KAWAI MP7: How to access the 128 GM sounds

(Note: Allows access to GM sound bank from front panel buttons)

1. Connect 5 pin MIDI DIN cable from MP7 MIDI OUT to MP7 MIDI IN. (This is like the MP7 is receiving MIDI
signals from an external device, however in this case, the MP7 itself becomes the “external” device so you
can access the GM sound bank.)
2. Press SYSTEM button.
3. Select MIDI.....Yes
4. Use F2 Page Down button to scroll to page 3 of 4.
5. Change Setup Program from Off to ON.
6. Scroll to page 4 of 4.
7. Change RCV.Mode from PANEL to MULTI.
8. On the same page, change Prog.Mode from PANEL to GM.
9. Press Exit.
10. Sub2 and Sub3 are factory set to external MIDI.
11. Press Sub3...should have a green LED (can check F4 to check)
12. Press EDIT button.
13. Select Ch/Prog 1 ...Yes
14. On right side of screen you’ll see Program.
15. Select the GM 001-128 (0-127) sound you want by altering the Program value.

Once you have set up the MP7 as per the above instructions, to access the GM sound bank simply press Sub3,
and EITHER press EDIT, select PROGRAM and then change the value of the Program number (001-128) using
YES/NO buttons, OR press Sub3 and then use the MP7 buttons in SOUND mode, as per the cross reference chart
below...eg. Sound 1-6-A (16A) = 021 Reed Organ) to select the GM sound you want.

The GM sounds can also be added to a USER Setup that you create.
