BENEFITS OF OLD HOME RESTORATIONS 1

Abstract

Most people looking to buy a new home on the market do not take the time to consider the

benefits of restoring an older home. More often than not, restorations of older homes can have

benefits not present in newer homes. The average cost of constructing a new home is about

$292,853 USD. However, renovating an older home can be less expensive along with being with

more eco-friendly. A foreclosure can be purchased for up to 40% less than its newly constructed

counterpart. A lot of the time people don't take the time to consider what materials can be

repurposed when renovating. Most people when they see old dingy floor boards jump to the

conclusion that they need to spend a pretty penny to remove them right away. When in actuality,

most old floor boards can be restored to their former glory by sanding them down and adding a

fresh coat of paint rather than replacing them all while saving wood and being eco-friendly.

People are eager to by a brand new home right away, but a lot of homebuyers eager to save a

buck don't realize the money they could save by renovating an older home along with all the

eco-friendly benefits.
