Who, What and How of Data.

Example: In My example, I am taking a scenario from students’ performance management data.

School planned to introduce a BI application that can do the performance tracking of individual
student and a group and recommend the area where he/she need extra attention.

What is the Who?

The School Admin who wants to track the performance of the class and school, teachers who want
to track the performance of their class and particular student of their class responsible and parents
who wants to track the performance of their child in previous class and current and the areas where
their ward needs extra attention.

What to be shown to track the performance?

This can be the data of the particular class and their performance in particular subject or particular
session. Individual performance of a student in a particular subject and in all subjects. Performance
of a particular teacher for a subject and in a class.

How this can be done?

Showing the viz. of performance of class in a particular subject comparing with the previous terminal
examination. Comparing the performance of a student in last assessment and whether the
improvement made on the recommendation given last time for a particular area or not. If the
difference is positive then we can proceed with it again.

Context of Data Visualisation:

The Issue: The Student is not able to perform better in the area recommended for last assessment
and currently the performance is degrading with same speed.

Demonstrating the issue: We can compare the performance of last assessment and current on a
dual axis line chart and show the last performance and current, the lagging lines for current
assessment will show the degradation.

The Big-Idea.

The BI application implemented for performance tracking has helped students in improving the
week area or sections of their academic. Therefore we recommend to continue with the
application in future.
