Blood donation is our human duty. Our body does not get affected if we donate blood.
The body can repair the loss within a few days. So we must come forward to donate blood as it
can make sure the return of a dying man again into the light of life. Commented [A3]: Second paragraph

Last November 25,2016 with the efforts of our STI College Shaw NSTP Coordinator, coaches,
and students, we were able to donate blood in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Blood
Service. A lot of STIers, coaches and even families of our students ignited their love for others
by volunteering to donate blood to those in need of it. The activity was a success and we were
able to meet the quota as agreed upon by the school and the Philippine Red Cross. Commented [A4]: Include WHAT,WHY, WHEN WHERE. HOW
e.g. include the Medical City/The Nursing Society of the Red Cross/
NSTP Coordinator Mr. Luha
The said activity started at around 10 AM at the STI College Shaw building occupying the rooms
in the fourth floor. The registration booth was in place at the same floor. The NSTP instructor
documented the names of the students, volunteers, donors, and student assistants who
participated. The initial screening was also done in the fourth floor by taking the age and
weight. The screening process constituted of filling out of the form and answering pertinent
questions, taking the vital signs including the temperature, respiratory rate, pulse rate, and
blood pressure, weighing, interview with a registered nurse, and physician, and finally getting
the blood type. After the screening, the donor is asked to drink and eat before the bloodletting
procedure. Then the donor goes to the two rooms in the left wing where they are finally
inspected by another physician for final instructions regarding the bloodletting. Around 400-
500 ml of blood is taken which lasts for about 30 minutes. Commented [A5]: Include which courses participated in the
activity and if possible the beneficiaries of the said activity.

vital role in saving the life of humans who are number one deliverers of life, mothers. With this
theme’s idea and this year’s blood donation activity, STIers can be more proud to tell the world
that they will save the lives of thousands of mothers.
The activity was very successful because of the active involvement of the STI
students with their respective donors as well as the help and support of the faculty members.
The Nursing Society of the Red Cross is also very thankful with the complements extended by
the NSTP Coordinator, Mr. Antonio Luha.
