POSITION SUMMARY
Purpose
As a member of the Global Master Data Team in the Shared Business Services Organization (SBS),
the Maintenance Data Technician Engineer collects, compiles and validates Plant Master Data
relating to New Plant builds, Acquisitions, and major Projects requiring new data collection. The data
is gathered into standard templates and assigned classifications so it can be sent to other teams for
loading into SAP and related applications.
The position requires technical knowledge of P&ID and Single Line drawings and supports the plant
operations and other members of the technical community within Air Products, globally.
Dimensions
Geographical Scope: Global support.
Businesses: Bulk Gases, Liquid Bulk, Helium, Packaged Gas and Discrete Manufacturing.
Working hours: Standard Kuala Lumpur office hours are applicable, Monday - Friday. We have a
global business, so the employee will have the opportunity to interact with others throughout the
world via electronic means. Off-hour meetings with other regions are sometimes necessary, but
occur rarely.
Flexibility: High performing employees are allowed to have occasional Work from Home
opportunities, and general flexibility can be granted if unexpected personal needs arise.
Principle Accountabilities
The Maintenance Master Data Engineer is a central resource to support the data requirements for
the SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module. For the supported sites/businesses, this individual
collects Maintenance Master data relating to Plant Functional Locations and Equipment.

Ensure that data content conforms to current data standards, policies and procedures. Details are
typically defined in Plant/Project documentation. Timely response and data accuracy is required.
Support data collection for SAP Releases, acquisitions and major projects. Compile and format
data, supporting the obligations of the business go-live.
Collects detailed data and characteristics for Process Safety devices (Relief Valves, Critical Safety
Circuits, Mechanical Integrity equipment) in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
With limited guidance and direction, gather and compile Equipment data for New Plants. Proceed
to populate source file used for system mass loads. Perform data validation, and correct any
errors or discrepancies. Classify common plant equipment using guides or templates. Consult
Lead Technician or functional experts on the proper classification of unique equipment.
Offer suggestions for system and work process improvements. Report data or functionality gaps
that need to be addressed by others.
Make decisions pertaining to data collection, interpretation of drawings and files, and proper
selection of codes and labels for Master Data. Understand the impact of data accuracy and how it
affects Plant operation, safety and regulatory compliance.
The incumbent must be able to work effectively with others in the work group and peers in other
functional areas. Occasional meeting attendance is required, i.e., New Plant Kickoff Meetings.
Education:
o BS or MS in Engineering. Preferable in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Chemical
Engineering or Automation Engineering.
Skills:
o This position requires a degree of experience in plant maintenance, maintenance systems,
engineering or planning as the employee will classify common Equipment and Systems
using templates and guides.
o Training or certifications may satisfy the technical requirements.
o Familiarity with process plant equipment is desired.
o A high level of computer literacy is needed, including the ability to utilize new tools and
methods relating to Master Data. A working knowledge of standard AP systems including
STAC (document repository) is beneficial but can be trained.
o Microsoft Outlook and Excel proficiency and use is required.
o Expertise is required for reading and interpreting P&IDs, equipment data sheets, and
maintenance manuals
o Strong verbal and written communications skills a must with the ability to work with various
cultures
Proficient English language skills (spoken & written) are required.
Candidates with additional Russian or Mandarin skills will receive higher
consideration.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions required.
