A. Reviewing previous Lesson or “You Complete ME”

presenting new lesson
Distribute the following strips of paper to the pupils and let them complete the chart on the board by
pasting the strips to their corresponding column.
Materials that Materials that do
attract magnet not attract magnet

After the activity, ask the pupils: Who among of you helps in the kitchen? How?

B. Establishing a purpose for the Show pictures of cooking utensils.

lesson

Ask the pupils: Why do cooking utensils have handles made of wood or plastic?
Why are cooking utensils made of metals?

(Indicator 3- Applies a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking, as well as other
higher-order thinking skills)

C. Presenting examples/ instances How heat transferred from one object to another?
of the new lesson. Let’s find out the answer after performing this activity.
D. Discussing new concepts and Group Activity: Before proceeding to the next part of the lesson, ask the pupils about the things that
practicing new skills.#1 they should remember when having group activities?

(Indicator 5-Manages learner behavior constructively by applying positive and non-violent discipline to ensure
learning-focused environments)

Group the class into 4 groups. Afterwhich, let the pupils select a leader.

Give each group leader a piece of paper which contains instructions and guide questions which the
group will answer. Brainstorming is encouraged.

Instruction:
1. Fill the mug with hot water. Be extra careful when pouring hot water to the mug. Avoid spilling
the hot water.
2. Place a metal spoon into the mug.
3. Wait for about five minutes. Carefully feel the exposed end of the spoon. Slightly touch the
outside surface of the mug, too. Record your observations.

Guide Questions:
1. What happened to the exposed end of the spoon after five minutes?
2. What did you notice about the outside surface of the mug when you touched it? Why?
3. Suggest ways to reduce the effect of heat on the turner so that we can avoid getting hurt when
we life it out of the hot pan.

(Indicator 1- Applies knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas)

(Indicator 7- Plans, Manages, implements developmentally sequenced teaching and learning processes to
meet curriculum requirements and varied teaching contexts)

E. Discussing new concepts and Let the pupils present and compare the results of their observations.
practicing new skills.#2 (Indicator 2-Uses a range of teaching strategies that enhance learner achievement in literacy and numeracy skills)
F. Developing Mastery
(Lead to Formative Assessment 3) Let the pupils watch the video: SIMPLE CONDUCTION and answer the following questions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHt__NjRC6c

How is heat transferred from one object to another?

How does heat travel by conduction?

G. Finding practical application of Let the pupils find a pair. Tell them to look around the room and list 10 examples of conductors and
concepts and skills in daily living insulators.

(Indicator 4- Manages classroom structure to engage learners, individually or in groups, in meaningful

exploration, discovery and hands-on activities within a range of physical environments.)

H. Making Generalizations and What have you learned?

Abstraction about the Lesson. What is the reason why heat can be transferred from one object to another?
How does heat travel by conduction?

I. Evaluating Learning Direction: Write C if the material is a conductor and I if it is an insulator.
