Detailed Lesson Plan in Science III

I. Objectives

At the end of the 50minutes discussion, 85% of the students are expected to do the following with 90%
level of proficiency:

A. Identify the different kinds of weather.


B. Understand the importance of knowing the different kinds of weather by giving activities that
can be done in different kinds of weather.
C. Participate actively in the discussion.

II. Subject Matter

Topic : Kinds of Weather


References : Science 3 Teacher’s Guide, Science 3 Kagamitan ng Mag-aaral, Growing with Science
and Health 3, Science Wonders and Exploring Science
Concepts : The Four Different Kinds of Weather are sunny, rainy, windy and cloudy days.
Materials : Puzzle pieces, Flash pictures, Cartolina, big pictures, envelopes and speaker

III. Procedure

 Prayer
“Let’s all stand and pray.” (One student will lead the prayer.)

 Greetings
“Good morning class…” “Good morning Ma’am!”

“Class, you may now be seated.” (students will sit)

 Checking of attendance
“Ms. Secretary, who are the absent for today?” (The secretary will tell who are the absent.)

 Review
“Let’s have a review to check if you really
understand our past lesson about Landforms”

“What is Landform? “Landform is the physical appearance of the earth


surface”

“Will you give an example of Landforms?” “Volcano is an example of Landforms.”


“Hill is an example of Landforms.”
“Plain is an example of Landforms.”
“Plateau is an example of Landforms.”
“Mountain is an example of Landforms.”

“Will you name the nearest mountain we had here in “Mt. Arayat, it is located in Magalang.”

 Motivation

“Do you want to learn a new song?” “Yes Ma’am, we want to learn a new song!”

that you can follow. I sing it first and then we will

“Let’s all stand straight.” (students will stand straight)

“Shake your hands upward, sideward, backward, (students will shake their hands upward, sideward,

Very good! Then, what is weather?” “Weather is panahon.”

“Yes, very good. Weather in tagalong is panahon.


But let’s define the meaning of weather. Look at this
picture, what is the girl doing?” “The girl is flying a kite.”

“Have you experienced flying a kite?” “Yes Ma’am!”

“When do you usually fly a kite?” “When there is so much air on the sky.”

“Observe the sky on this picture. What is the “The air is blowing hard. The condition of the day is

“Now, any idea of what weather is?” “Weather is a condition of the day.”

“The weather tells us what day looks like. This


changes from day to day. The weather tells us if the
sun will shine brightly, if there will be rain or none.
It allows us to detect if there is a strong wind, if it
blows fast or slow.”

B. Developmental Activity

“You already know the meaning of the weather. “Sunny weather.”


Now, let us recall the song that we have just sung a “Rainy weather.”

“Yes. Very good! Class, in the Philippines we do not


have snowy weather but in other places has. Will

There is another weather that is not mention in the


song that our country has, because of this weather,
children can’t go to school. The class is suspended.
What do you think is that weather? “I think Ma’am, it is a Stormy weather.”

Sunny, Rainy, Windy, Cloudy, and Stormy are the


different kinds of weather in the Philippines.

“Again, What are the different kinds of weather in “Sunny weather.”


Philippines?” “Rainy weather.”
“Windy weather.”
“Cloudy weather.”
“Stormy weather.”

“Let’s play a puzzle game. Are you excited?” “Yes ma’am, we are all excited.”

“The game will be played by groups and groupings


will be by row.”

“Raise your hand if I call your group.”

“Group 1?” (Row 1 will raise their both hand)


“Group 2?” (Row 2 will raise their both hand)
“Group 3?” (Row 3 will raise their both hand)
“Group 4?” (Row 4 will raise their both hand)

“Class, while we play this game, Please remember


the rules on our group activity.”

“What is rule #1?” “Keep silent!”


“What is rule #2?” “Participate!”
“What is rule #3?” “Enjoy!”

“Everybody, please go silently to your places and (students will go to their group assigned places and
form a circle.” will form a circle)

“I have here envelopes. Inside these envelopes are


the pieces of puzzle that you have to assemble to
complete a picture of the different kinds of
weather.”

“After you assemble the puzzle pieces, you have to


paste them on a bond paper and put them in the
board that matches their label. Then silently go back
to your seats.”

“Is that clear class?” “Yes Ma’am!”


“Group 1, what do this envelopes contain?” “Those envelopes contain puzzle pieces.”

“Group 2, what are you going to do with the puzzle “We have to assemble those puzzle pieces to

“Group 3, if you are done completing the puzzle “Paste them on a bond paper and put them in the

“Class, look on the board.

IV. Evaluation

Identify the kinds of weather being describe in each statement.

1. The winds are strong. There is much rain. There is flood.


2. Trees and plants are swaying. Air is moving fast.
3. Clouds cover the sky. The sun is blocked.
4. The sun shines brightly. The sky is clear.
5. The clouds are dark. It is raining all day.

V. Assignment

Draw and cut out pictures of the different kinds of weather and paste them on your assignment
notebook.
