In this test for Soluble Chloride Contents, soluble chloride was abstracted in accordance
with “9. Method for determination of soluble chloride” of JCI-SC4 (Analysis method for
chloride contents of cured concrete) and determined quantity using ion chromatograph.
Details of the method of test are as follows;
(1) The test piece was ground fine up to the grain size of 150μm using Jaw crasher and Brown
crasher, which is dried up in the air for 24 hours and completed as the test specimen.
Specimen for analysis after ground with grain adjusted is shown in Pic-2.
(2) Soluble chloride was abstracted by taking the specimen of 40gs measured with accuracy up
to ranges of 0.1μgs in a polypropylene bottle (100ml), adding to it water in temperature of 50℃,
agitating it for 30 minutes keeping its temperature at 50+/-3℃.
Agitation processs in progress is shown in Puc 3.
(3) The solution of the abstracted soluble chloride was filtrated using filter paper (5-B) after
still standing for 30 minutes, then cooled it down to ambient temperature, and the filtered
solution with quantity determined at 250ml was completed as the test specimen.
(4) Chloride ion contents among the specimen in solution were measured by using ion
chromatograph. A scene of the process in progress for measuring soluble chloride contents
is shown in Pic-4.
(5) The volume of chloride contents was calculated through the formula as follows and rounded to
3 decimal places according to the rule B of JIS A 8401 (rounding the figures). The test was
conducted in 2 times on the same specimen, and took those average as the value of soluble
chloride conten
