At the outset let me welcome you all to our 28th Annual Day celebration. I take
this pleasant opportunity to present the annual report of our Vidyalaya for 2013-14
citing the outstanding achievements of our students in various curricular and co-
curricular activities envisioned as last year’s objectives.
The Navodaya Vidyalaya System is a unique experiment unparalleled in the
annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya,
Koraput was established in the year 1986 in accordance with the National Policy on
Education 1986.
The main objective of the Vidyalaya is to provide Quality Modern Education
predominantly to the rural talented children and to promote National Integration. It
is a co-educational residential institution affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi and running
under Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization under Ministry of
HRD, Department of Education, Government of India.
At present there are -548 (Boys -346 & Girls -202) students in the Vidyalaya,

Colour TV (3 Nos.) with TATA SKY & DISH TV Connection. Well developed play field
with facilities for different games and sports activities, 16 Station Multi Gym., well
furnished dormitories, provision of free food, textbooks, toilet items, uniforms and
bedding materials are source of attraction for students.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS:
The Vidyalaya atmosphere is very conducive to nurture and nourish the
children’s intrinsic capabilities. The team of my devoted teachers work from dawn
to dusk balancing their style of teaching which caters to the need of both gifted
children as well as slow learners.
The students have put their consistent efforts in their studies. As an outcome
of such sincere and combined efforts, our Vidyalaya has achieved 100% quality
results in Class X and 92% in Class XII in CBSE Exam – 2013.
05 students of Class X have been awarded Merit Certificate by CBSE for
securing 10 CGPA and among them A.OM.Praksah Subudhi stood first in the
Vidyalaya . In Class XII Science Master Ghana Shyam Bhoi stood first in the Vidyalaya
and Pankaj Kumar Bissoi stood first in Humanities stream in the entire Bhopal Region
and 2nd National Topper of NVS scoring 92% marks.
As a part of the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation this Vidyalaya has
conducted 6 Formative Tests and 2 Summative Tests for Non-board Classes in the
academic year 2013-14. In all classes the toppers have secured more than 90% in
aggregate.

3
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Besides academics achievements our students participated and brought laurels
to the Vidyalaya in various competitions organized by the NVS and other
organizations. The Vidyalaya believes that there is an underlying link between a
child’s academic pursuits and other pursuits such as Literary. Scientific, Games and
Sports, performing and fine art tuned with development of leadership skills.
The following students have brought glory to our Vidyalaya in Inter-Vidyalaya

TRAINING PROGRAMMES
To keep abreast with the fast changing methods and techniques
taking place in the field of education Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has been
periodically organizing various training courses for our staff. Besides Samiti,
our Vidyalaya has also organized Training Programme on Adolescence
Education Programme and Quality Improvement in Teaching for all teachers.

MIGRATION POLICY:
Navodaya Vidyalaya has the distinction of being the only Vidyalaya
which exchanges 30% of its Class IX students in between Hindi speaking and
non-Hindi speaking states for one year which encourages cultural exchange
promoting National Integration. This Vidyalaya has such a programme with
JNV, Gumla, Jharkhand.

HOUSE SYSTEM:
16
The House System is an integral part of Navodaya Vidyalaya. It helps
a lot for the emotional, social, psychological and spiritual development of
child. Co-existence and co-operative living is the motto of the House System.
We are having four different houses, viz. Aravali, Nilgiri, Siwalik and Udaygiri-
the names of the hill ranges which stand high in the four corners of our
country, bound together suggesting our children to be so.
MESS SYSTEM:
The Vidyalaya is having a full furnished big dining hall with required
number of skilled staff to prepare and provide nutritious food to the
children. The Samiti has appointed a Catering Asst. with required
professional degree for effective management of the mess. The mess runs
under the supervision of mess committee comprising of Principal, Vice
Principal/Senior Most Teacher, Housemasters, Staff Nurse and students
representatives.
PTC :
Effective functioning of residential system like our JNV depends on
active involvement of parents and their representatives. A Parent Teacher
Council is operative in the Vidyalaya comprising of 15 Parent members and
05 Teacher members for better functioning of the Vidyalaya. With the active
participation of PTC members and parents, an extra classroom has been
created for class VI students with an investment of Rs. 45,000. We have
conducted PTC meeting from time to time to solve various problems related
to the welfare of students. In this connection I would like to highlight about
the shortage of classroom for Music and Gym for students which has already
been discussed in the PTC meeting and we are planning to generate fund for
this purpose.
There is a persistent demand from the parents for construction of 2
rest sheds near boys and girls hostels. One has already been constructed
from MLA LAD & we need the help of our hon’ble Collector for construction
of 2nd Rest Shed.
