8.0 GEOPHYSICAL FIELD SUMMARY

Geophysical survey for the Meren Route was carried out using Side Scan Sonar,
Magnetometer, Single Beam Echo Sounder, Multibeam Echo Sounder, C-Nav
DGNSS, Sub Bottom Profiler and Hypack Navigation System and Valeport Sound
Velocity Profile. The MBES and SBES were side mounted, while the SSS was towed
at a variable layback determined by water depth. The magnetometer was towed at
a layback of 40m.

Analog Survey lines were run at line spacing of 25m for mainlines and 200m for
cross lines.

A combination of SonarWiz (full software package of Bathymetry, Side scan sonar,

Sub Bottom and Magnetometer), Hypack/Hysweep, Magmap, Magpick, Autocad
Map 3D, Global Mapper and GS+ software to process the Analog data.

8.1 Bathymetry
The bathymetry data acquired was reduced to LAT using the Ogidigbe tidal
station. Initial observation shows a depth trending South West-North East,
with the highest depth of 16.0m around Meren Jacket 102 (NW of the Survey

Meren Geophysical Route Survey

Area), and the lowest depth is 13.9m around Meren WIP area (SE of the
Survey Area).

The bathymetry gradient of the survey area is 0.0035, which indicates a

gentle gradient across the survey area.

8.2 Seabed Interpretation

The seabed is homogenous and relatively free of debris along the

survey route.

Interpretation of the Side Scan Sonar Features were overlaid on the

Magnetic Intensity Map, and the magnetic intensity in the Survey
Route ranges from 32,600 nT to 33,800nT (The unit of measurement
for the Magnetometer is the Nano Tesla (nT)).

The other feature identified on the Survey Route is the Pipeline, all of
the Pipelines show high Magnetic Intensity.

One (1) Pipeline could be observed running parallel to the Survey

route.

Two (2) Pipelines could be observed entering the Meren Jacket 102
from the North West, while Two (2) Pipelines could be observed existing
it from the South West of the Jacket with one of the Pipelines running
into Meren WIP.

One (1) Pipeline was observed crossing the survey route from Meren
Jacket 102 to Meren Jacket 24 Eastward, at coordinates stated below:

8.3 Shallow Geology

The shallow geology from the Sub Bottom profiler (SBP) shows a thin layer
of clay on the seafloor, followed by another layer bounded by the seafloor (red
line) and the first reflector (green line) which is composed of soft clay
underlain by silty sand; followed by another layer which is bounded by the
first reflector (green line) and the second reflector (purple line): this layer is
composed of thick clay with intercalation of silt.

9.0 SUMMARY OF RESULTS

From the survey conducted, the following were observed during the online
processing of the Geophysical data:
9.1 Two (2) Pipelines were observed running into Meren Jacket 102 from

the North West of the Jacket.

9.2 One (1) Pipeline were observed running parallel to the survey route in

North West-South East.

9.3 Two (2) Pipelines were observed running South East from Meren

North West of the Jacket.

9.6 Two (2) Pipelines were observed exiting Meren Jacket 24 from the

South East of the Jacket.

10.0 CHALLENGES FACED DURING THE SURVEY

The Survey Team encountered some challenges during the Survey Project

and these are highlighted below:

10.1 Weather: The Survey project was carried out during the onset of the

rainy season, hence posing a challenge during the survey project,

which led to Two (2) days of complete standby, while on some days,

partial standby occurred.

10.2 Power Outage: The vessel posed a challenge during the Survey as the

Survey had to be interrupted intermittently for power outages, which

normally takes a minimum of two hours in other to be restored; this

led to loss of man-hour.

10.3 Vessel Documentation: This was a major challenge before the

commencement of the project, as this extended the project deep into

the rainy season. The period of the vessel documentation was a period

of favourable weather based on the Weather reports available and daily

observations carried out.

Meren Geophysical Route Survey

10.4 Vessel Crew Discontent: The vessel crew showed enormous

discontent during the survey project, with several instances of them

calling for operation shut-down due to management issues, this was a

source of concern to the survey team as it led to unease and fear of the

unknown in the vessel.

11.0 RECOMMENDATIONS & CONCLUSION

11.1 This report details the observations from the seabed survey and our
interpretation of the acquired data. The objective of survey was the
detection and determination of the position of various features and
structures such as pipelines and fiber - optic cables; determining the
accurate nature of shallow sub-seabed features such as near surface
faults, gas hydrates, hydrocarbon seeps, and pock marks, well
locations; determining the presence of debris, rig or jack up barge
footprints, free standing caissons, submerged well heads, natural
seabed conditions and other potential hazards around the survey site;
determining the accurate water depth and seabed features prevailing
in the survey site and determining seafloor conditions and water
column features.

11.2 The survey observed and mapped the locations of seabed and shallow
sub-seabed features.

11.3 For the survey area, no extraordinary risks was observed, however
the inter-connectivity of the pipelines within the route poses a
significant risk that needs to be factored into the general risk
assessment for pipe-lay, emplacement of rigs and work platforms
within the survey area.

11.4 Another potential risk that be factored into the general risk
assessment for pipe-lay, emplacement of rigs and work platforms

Meren Geophysical Route Survey

within the survey area, would be the Pipeline crossing due East from
Meren Jacket 102 to Meren Jacket 24 at the following coordinates.

Name Start Point End Point Angle of Depth of Burial

Easting Northing Easting Northing Crossing
(mE) (mN) (mE) (mN)
Pipeline 275721.70 195613.48 276036.52 195692.09 78° due 0.69m
East

11.5 It is therefore recommended that vessel captains and crew leaders

exercise proper care and due diligence in positioning work barges /
platforms and rigs in the area, taking these observed risks into proper
account. Particularly, captains of vessels proposing to work in the
area are advised to have the chart of seabed features showing the
recommended approach paths to the jacket as a guide to safe
navigation and positioning.
