THESIS
COMPLETION GUIDELINES

1. All students must present the results of their study in a colloquium (Student Research
Colloquium or Institutional Colloquium) before graduation.
a. The student colloquium will be scheduled anytime between weeks 10 and 11 and
the schedule will be announced by week 3 of the current term;
2. After the final oral presentation and the manuscript has been revised according to the
recommendations of the members of the thesis panel, the Final Approval form (ORPC form
34-03-08) should be accomplished;
a. The Final Approval form, together with the revised manuscript, should be brought
to the SLHS for editing on or before week 10;
3. A certificate of editing from the SLHS should be submitted to the course adviser;
4. An article culled from Chapter 3 of the thesis should be written using the format of the
Mapúa Journal of Science and Technology.
a. A softcopy of this article should be submitted to the course adviser for uploading
to fuego on or before the third day of the first week of classes;
b. A hardcopy of this article should be submitted to the Chair for Chemical
Engineering on or before the third day of the first week of classes (remove the
author(s)’s name);
5. The Waiver for Application for Transcript of Records and Diploma (ORPC form 34-03-12)
should be accomplished if the bound thesis report and other thesis requirements cannot be
submitted on or before the third day of the first week classes;
a. This waiver will be signed by the registrar only after the manuscript has been
edited by the SLHS and the article culled from Chapter 3 of the thesis has been
uploaded to fuego;
6. Two (2) copies of the bound thesis should be submitted to the course adviser;
7. A poster depicting the complete study should be printed on an A3 (11”x 17”) paper and
laminated and submitted to the course adviser;
8. All journal articles used in the review of literature and results & discussion should be
compiled in a long clear book. To differentiate between the different programs, students
should observe the following color coding – YELLOW for ChE, PINK for Chm and CCE,
LAVANDER for Bt, BCm, BCC;
9. All the results and preparation notes for the experiment should be recorded in a laboratory
notebook (bound record book with pagination). This should be covered according to the
color coding for the LONG clear book and should display the title page of the study at the
front cover;
10. A softcopy of all materials used in the thesis should be compiled in a CD. Two CD’s should
be submitted and these should contain: (1) the full manuscript in word format (one folder
containing the different chapters of the thesis (saved as separate files) plus the other
pertinent parts of the thesis), (2) the full Powerpoint presentation used in the proposal and
final oral presentation, (3) the article culled from the thesis in MJST format, (4) all the articles
used in the review of literature and results & discussion, and (5) poster. The CD cover
should observe the color coding for the LONG clear book.
