The four Horn Concertos by Mozart are a major part of most professional horn players' repertoire. The concertos were written for his friend Joseph Leutgeb whom he had known since childhood. Leitgeb was clearly a skilled player, as the works are very difficult to perform on the natural horn of the period, requiring lip trills, much hand-stopping, and rapid tonguing.
Bach’s harpsichord concertos are concertos for harpsichord,
strings and continuo. There are seven concertos for a single harpsichord, three concertos for 2 harpsichords, two concertos for 3 harpsichords, and one concerto for 4 harpsichords. Two other concertos include solo harpsichord parts: the concerto BWV 1044, which has solo parts for harpsichord, violin and flute. The recording I have here is with Glen Gould playing. Mozarts Violin Concerto in D is under Mozarts name but we are uncertain that he did actually compose it. Vivaldi Flute Concerto in G Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 is his last large orchestral work. It forms an important part of the violin repertoire and is one of the most popular and most frequently performed violin concertos of all time. A typical performance lasts just under half an hour. The Concerto for 2 Violins, Strings and Continuo in D, also known as the Double Violin Concerto, is perhaps one of the most famous works by Bach and considered among the best examples of the work of the late Baroque period.
The Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11 by the Polish
composer Chopin was composed in 1830. It was first performed on 11 October of that year, in Warsaw, with the composer as soloist, during one of his "farewell" concerts before leaving Poland. It was the first of Chopin's two piano concertos to be published, and was therefore given the designation of Piano Concerto "No. 1" at the time of publication, even though it was actually written immediately after what was later published as Piano Concerto No. 2. The concerto is scored for solo piano, a pair of flutes, oboes, clarinets, and bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, tenor trombone, timpani and strings. Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C major, was originally composed in Spring or Summer 1777 for oboist Giuseppe Ferlendis from Bergamo, then reworked by the composer as a concerto for flute in D major in 1778. The concerto is a widely-studied piece for both instruments and is one of the more important concerti for the oboe. Daniel Hass The Flight of the Bumble Bee Australia The Brandenburg concerti by Bach, are a collection of six instrumental works presented by Bach to Christian Ludwig. in 1721 (though probably composed earlier).
