Definition of Terms
1. Ischemic Heart Disease
- A form of heart disease with
primary manifestation that result to
myocardial ischemia, sometimes
due to atherosclerosis coronary
artery.
- Ischemia: blockade of BV
2. Coronary artery Disease
- Refers to narrowing of the major
epicardial coronary artery usually
caused by atheromatous
obstruction.
- Atheromatous: lipid deposits that
are calcified inside the walls of the
BV’s plaque (atheroma)
3. Angina pectoris
- Episodic reversible oxygen
insufficiency.
- Chest pain felt due to transient
myocardial ischemia sometimes
with development of myocardial
necrosis.
- Angere = to choke, Pectoris = chest
- Common manifestation of IHD &
CAD.
