1
Aloha fellow amigurumi lover,
Thank you very much for purchasing Betty the Bat. I hope you thoroughly enjoy
making her as I absolutely loved designing this crazy bat for you!

I am more than happy for you to make Betty for yourself or as a gift, but please
would you be so kind to provide a link to my Etsy shop (Loopieandbean) or via
Ravelry and credit me the designer.

A lot of love, time and effort has gone into designing and creating this bat.
Please do not share, reproduce or sell this pattern, either in its entirety or in
parts.

I do really love seeing your finished makes so use the hashtag #loopieandbean
on Instagram and Facebook.

Happy hooking
Loopie x

Crochet stitches used in this Pattern

Chain –Insert hook, yarn over, pull loop through loop on hook.
Magic ring - Wrap yarn around fingers to form a loop. Insert hook through middle of loop.
Pull working end of yarn through ring and chain the required number of stitches through. Pull
the yarn ends to close the loop.
Decrease - I like to use the “invisible” decrease as it makes your work look a lot neater. For
this, insert hook into front loop of first stitch (from the front and under). Repeat into front
loop of next stitch. Yarn over and pull loop through both loops on hook.
Single crochet - Insert hook, yarn over, pull loop through stitch (there should be 2 loops on
hook), yarn over, pull loop through both loops on hook.
Single crochet increase - Work 2 single crochets into the same stitch.
Half double crochet - Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull loop through stitch (there should
be 3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull loop through all 3 loops on the hook.
Double crochet –Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull loop through stitch, yarn over, pull
loop through 2 loops, yarn over and pull loop through last 2 loops.
Slip stitch - Insert hook, yarn over, pull loop through stitch and loop on hook

Rnd 7-20: Sc in each st [8sts]
Before we close the arm, you need to take your beading wire and measure out 24cm and cut
it at this size. Then measure 8cm and bend it over to another 8cm (So you have 16cm and
you have bent it in the middle) and twist the 2 parts of wire together. You will be left with 8
cm of wire left. Twist this around the already twisted wire to give it a little more strength. Put
the wire in the arms.
Close the arm by folding the top in half and do a sc in each of the 4 stitches.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing onto the body.

Stuff the front of the feet only – up to round 5
Close the feet by folding the opening in half and sc across 6 times.

Assembly

1. Sew the head to the body. You will find that both openings are 18sts wide. Pin them
together and sew around going into each stitch equally.
2. Add the hood to the head, the end of the nose bridge will fall onto round 14. There
should be 4 stitches either side of the bridge before you hit the eyes. Sew hood on.
3. Now add the ears. The top ends should be pinned a round or 2 closest to the crown of
the hood and as they bend round pin the bottom of the ears in place. (Pictures will
help you with this part.)
4. With the snout, make sure it is in an upside-down triangular shape before you pin and
sew it in place just under the bridge of the hood.
5. Arms are added either side of the body in par with the bat’s ears. Sew in place.
6. Please see Picture for Assembly of the feet.
7. Betty’s wings are now sewn into place. The side of which single crochets where added
must be sewn onto her back. The top side of the wings have to be sewn under her
arms and all the way to her hands.
8. The hearts are place bottom right of the body. (You can play about with these and put
them as I have or as you would prefer.)
