CHILD LABOUR IN PAKISTAN

DESCRIPTION
 Today pakistan is facing many social
problems which is destroying our society as
well as our economy like corruption,
illiteracy, poverty, over population ,
unemployment , terrorism etc.
THIS IS WHAT WE CALL “LIFE”
 BUT
THIS IS ALSO LIFE
CHILD LABOUR IN PAKISTAN
( A socially accepted crime )



INTRODUCTION

 Child labor has became a major issue throughout


the world but in the developing countries , like
pakistan, it has grown to the maximum level.

 This problem is becoming intense with every


passing day because a large number of children
are forced to work which is completely against
the law.
 According to United nations international
children emergency funds (UNICEF), there are
approximately 158M children aged 5-18
working as child labor worldwide.
WHAT IS CHILD LABOR?
 The term “ Child labor“ is often defined as;

 Work that deprives children of their


childhood, their potential and that is
harmful to physical and mental
development.
CHILD LABOUR IN PAKISTAN

 Child labor is a socio-economic problem of


pakistan from the beginning and is
presenting negative effect till now.
UNICEF DEFINES

According to United Nation International


Children’s Emergency Funds;

“Child” is anyone below the age of 18.

 “ Child labor” is some type of work


performed by children below age 18.
A FACT
 Pakistan is amongst the top ten countries
having the issue of child labor.
 Children aged 5-15 are 40M in pakistan.
 50% of these economically active are
between the age of 5-10 years.
 Out of 40M ,approximately 4 million ( 73%
boys, 27% girls) are working in agriculture
sector.
THE QUESTIONS ARISES;

 What are the reason behind?


CAUSES;
 POVERTY
 ILLITERACY
 BUSINESS ADVANTAGE
 FAILURE OF LAWS
 ETC
DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHILD
LABOUR
 Agriculture sector
 Automobile workshops
 Stone/Marble cutting
 Patrol pumps
 Hotels
 And much more
EFFECT OF CHILD LABOUR;

Physical effects
Working conditions that are safe and healthy for adults may
not be safe and healthy for children because of their physical
differences.

Mental effects;
SOLUTION
AND
SUGGESTIONS
 Awareness should be raised .
 Eliminate poverty ratio.
 Laws regarding child labor must be
implemented.
 Government must control inflation rate.
 Family planning.
WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD
LABOUR;
PAKISTAN’S EFFORTS
 The employee Children’s Act 1991.
 Punjab compulsory Education’s Act 1994.
 Government gives free books to primary
schools so parents with limited budget are
able to send their kids to school.
